Sunday

Greater love has no one than this:

to lay down one’s life for one’s friends

I forgot to share David‘s good news from Friday afternoon.  His eyes are doing great!  The retina specialist said he was graduating David to six months without an appointment.

Speaking of graduating, Mallory did that yesterday, but we did not get to watch it.  The church did not have the wi-fi necessary.  We did see a few pictures and hope to hear a report from the family today.

There have been a couple of area deaths, but I’m waiting for obituaries from the funeral home before I share them.

Read the Bible today – Ecc. 9-12 & Psalm 10

Vacation Bible School is available at several churches today/this week for your children/grandchildren.

Bible Drill class for children will be tonight at 6 P.M.

There will be no Third Thursday Gatherings this summer, but we will resume in September.  I do have my piano in the cabin thanks to a wonderful group of young, strong friends from church.  I’ll be looking forward to a good ole hymn singing time.  Come with a list of favorites!

Have a blessed Lord’s Day!

Saturday

… to them I will give within my temple and its walls

a memorial and a name

better than sons and daughters;

I will give them an everlasting name

that will endure forever.

Today, our oldest granddaughter  will graduate from Christian International School of Prague at 11:30 A.M. (our time).  This will be a big step for her as she leaves Prague in a couple of days to come stateside for the summer and then go to Baylor University for her first semester.  It also will be a tremendous change for her parents and siblings as the family unit of everyday life will be broken as the first child leaves home.  As you pray for her, please pray for her parents and siblings.

VBS ended with a loud bang and lots of energy at FBC, Kentwood last night.  We are so thankful for all the children who attended and pray their lives were enriched. We were blessed by many wonderful volunteers, adults and youth, who made every activity possible.  Parents were faithful in getting their children to the church each day.  There was great success when everyone worked together.  We were blessed to have children make decisions that will change their lives eternally.  I would gladly start again Monday because there was so much that I personally gained to.  Each private conversation and hug meant so much to me.  It was a blessing when they told what they learned.  Yes,  hearts were certainly touched this week.

The Third Thursday gatherings will be on hold until September.  This is the first summer break we have ever taken, but our family activities and company schedule is more complicated this year.  I always look forward to the next gathering and realize that if we wait until September for our next meeting I will really have high expectations for that gathering.

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,

he enables me to tread on the heights.

Read the Bible – Proverbs 19-21 and Psalm 4

Continue to pray for the many who are sick in our community.  Some illnesses that are common at this time of year are hard to get rid of.

Bobbie Magee has good news.  She is almost finished with her homebound days.  Her illness was very serious.  Her immune system was greatly weakened.  I know she will be glad to be returning to a more normal routine.

Friday Morning Bible Study will not meet this week due to VBS.

What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?

Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,

how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Today, several churches will kick-off their 2017 VBS.  I hope your children/grandchildren/nieces and nephews are lined up to be a part of one.  I am excited to say I will be teaching missions to the older children at FBC, Kentwood.  Today, we will have a guest who will tell about delivering Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes to children in a far-away country.  We start at 8:30 today.
Make today count for His glory!

Saturday

The one who is victorious will, like them,

be dressed in white.

I will never blot out the name of that person

from the book of life,

but will acknowledge that name

before my Father and his angels.

~Revelation 3:5~

It’s Vacation Bible School time!  In the coming weeks, almost all our churches will be going “all out” to bring in children and teach children about God and His Word.  The themes will be different, the decorations will vary, the workers will not be the same, but the reasoning is the same in each case.  I encourage you to support the VBS in your church and in other churches.  It’s not about “my church” and “our VBS”, but about helping children learn about God and to come to a personal relationship with Him!

FBC, Kentwood will begin Sunday with a registration party from 5-7 P.M.  Bring the family so they will learn to be comfortable with our church and our people.  VBS will begin Monday morning at 8:30 in the sanctuary and conclude at 11:30 in the sanctuary.  Parent night is Friday.  Come see some of what your child/children have learned.  Lend us to us each morning for a week.  I know their lives will be greatly impacted in a positive way.

Later, this summer, as other churches have VBS, you will soon realize there are many different themes that will be used this summer.  It’s okay for children to participate in more than one VBS.  Neither my children or I did that, but I certainly see the advantage of being in different programs in different churches.  Each church only wants to be a part the life of the children.  Give your child/children all such opportunities that will work for your family.  That can make a “heavenly and eternal” difference!

Read the Bible – Proverbs 7-9 and Psalm 150.

P.S. The server needed to be rebooted for me to get into The Prayer Link today.  Jason has already left for a fishing tournament by the time I realized there was a problem.  I was able to tell him about it as soon as he called after the tournament, but he had to travel home to do what was necessary.  By that time, I was sidetracked.  I decided to post what I had written as a Google document this morning.

I want to add the link to the Waylon Bailey document.  It seems like he has VBS thoughts this morning just like I did.  David and I did spend some time at the church this afternoon preparing my room for teaching missions during VBS.

The link is http://waylonbailey.com/2017/06/03/next-gen-vbs/.

Friday

     “Love your enemies,

bless those who curse you,

do good to those who hate you,

and pray for those who spitefully use you

and persecute you.”

~Matthew 5:44~

Dorothy Fussell graduated from using a walker to using a cane as she recovers from a broken hip.  Thank God for her progress.

Bettye Fussell had a reaction when she was given her treatment this week.  Thank God she was able to have a treatment though.

Please continue to pray for the Dillons, Mr. “Cete” and “Miss” Ruby.  Recovery is a slow process.

Read the Bible – Proverbs 4-6 & Psalm 149

Friday Morning Bible Study – Ezekiel 12
