I told Velta that Kentwood would be praying. Many other people were/are too.
The latest update on Bill Morris, written by Dr. Art Morris, is that Bill was having more difficulty breathing and was moved to ICU. The doctor there studied the records carefully and found that Bill has had three Covid tests, none of which gave a positive result. They are working on a new diagnosis and plan of action.
More good news – Velta is there holding his hand! We had “talked” about that desire this morning.
Velta Morris requests all of you prayer warriors to say special prayers forBill Morris. He has COVID and is very sick. Thank-you for praying for this special friend.

The faces have changed, but the need still for prayer still is there. I know of three today, but I am out-of-touch because of staying home most of the time. If you know of others, please let me know. Thanks!

175 Years of the International Mission Board
Support Operations Devastated by Civil War
1865
The devastating effects of the U.S. Civil War left missionaries to fend for themselves as the Foreign Mission Board’s administrative functions all but ceased. By the end of the war, the organization was in severe debt — only $1.78 remained in the bank — and Southern Baptists questioned whether their mission efforts could continue.
Prayer Focus
Today, let’s focus on people churches that are struggling, not because of a war, but because of a pandemic (Covid-19). We must remember that the virus has caused lots of meetings, outreach events, and mission activities in area churches to be put on hold for now. Let’s pray that even thought some things have been cancelled, the churches will find ways to alter the events so the work can still be accomplished.
“I want you to have the good that comes from giving . . . My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.”
~Philippians 4:17, 19 (NCV)~

LOTTIE MOON OFFERING WEEK OF PRAYER – DAY 6
Christmas Bible Reading
Today is the 4th day of the month, so we will read Luke 4 today.
Prayer Focus for Today
Holidays can be the happiest and the gloomiest times of the year. Today, let’s pray for those around us who are gloomy and don’t expect to have a happy holiday season. You might be able to think of a way to make at least one of your friends feel better. Put some thought and some action into that thought.
Chronological Bible Reading for 2021
During 2021, I’m planning on a chronological reading of the Bible. I’ve never done that before. I hope you will make plans to be a part of this. You will be able to get a daily guide here or can pick up a hardcopy at the office of FBC, Kentwood when it gets closer to the end of this year.
For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.”
~Romans 8:38-39 (TLB)~
We have several friends who are sick. Some are here in Kentwood. Some live in other places. Think about your friends. You probably have a few you can pray for.

Single Females Granted Appointment as Missionaries
July 12, 1871
The Foreign Mission Board appointed Lula Whilden to China, reviving the appointment of single female missionaries. She and her married sister became the first “missionary kids” (children who grow up on the mission field) to serve as Southern Baptist missionaries.
Today, let’s focus our prayer on missionarieswho give so much of themselves so others can learn how to be saved and to live their lives as a witness to others.
I wish for you a blessed December to focus on others.
Eleanor Morris called this morning from North Oaks where Buddy is a patient. She share good news and not-so-good news. The good news it that the lab reports from a recent biopsy all came back okay. The not-so-good news is that Buddy is a patient at North Oaks where he has undergone some procedures to correct a new issue. Eleanor is now able to stay with him and can leave the room to go to the cafeteria. Please keep both Buddy and Eleanor in your prayers.
Robert Prine is now at home in Osyka. Thank God for the progress Robert and Marsha have made.
Please pray for others on your personal prayer list.
