Kallie Renae Dickens

July 21, 2017 – May 7, 2022

Kallie Renae Dickens was given to us on this earth for only a short time, and left it peacefully on May 7th 2022, surrounded by her Mom, Dad, and little sister at home.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her PawPaw Don Allen, Aunt Summer Allen, and two siblings we never got to meet. We’re jealous they were the first to hear her beautiful voice and silly laugh again.

She left her Mom and Dad, Hayley and Justin Dickens, and her sister, Kora Dickens, here to continue living out her beautiful legacy. Her sister Kora is her Bingo. Kallie will forever be our Bluey. Forever 4. Forever missed. Her time was short, but she changed the world with the time she had. Our world will never be the same.

Kallie has so many that love her. Her Nonna Denise Donut Dickens (Denise Allen) and MawMaw Cindy and PawPaw David Dickens. Her godparents Nanny Sam (Samantha) and her “T” Tyler Carey. Her Aunt Kat (Katherine), Uncle Josh, Aunt Laura, Uncle Jared, and her cousins Brody, Zoe, Erik, Charlotte, and Catherine Dickens. Her Aunt Anne and Uncle Bill Ford. So many more friends and family we could name. How lucky are we she is so loved. But she made it easy.

She was a lover of M&Ms, peanut butter jelly uncrustables, and frozen blueberries. She loved to touch her sister’s hair. She loved to dance. She loved to sing. She loved people. To be surrounded by them. To make them feel good and loved. More than any toy (except maybe her tablet).

Our lives and our hearts will never be the same. We will remember her kindness, her selflessness, her always wanting to make everyone around her feel special and loved. We will fight to keep spreading her joy. To be happy. To have a thumbs up even when times are hard. We will carry that with us for the rest of our days until we’ll never be separated from her again.

Our family was so blessed through Kallie’s courageous journey. We aren’t ready to plan a celebration yet (because her life should be celebrated). We ask if you want to do something in Kallie’s honor, donate to some of the amazing organizations we’ve shared on her Facebook page “The Optimistic Angel”. And if you don’t want to do that, just hug your babies and your families a little tighter and make sure you make every day count. Moments don’t have to be big, but they do have to be meaningful. This is something our girl has taught us

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Thank-you to Alcyon Hayden for a donation. I will spend it on something we need once we do some counting at church. We are packing 400 boxes, so we will need that many of various hygiene items, our current focus.

MONTHLY MISSIONS FOR MAY

Chinero Fowler did an excellent job telling you about Moving Mountain Ministry which is housed in our church. This ministry provides items for foster children at the time they are placed in a home. You are invited to purchase pajamas, for boys and girls of any age that will be given to these children as needed. You can leave your purchases in the church office or give them to Chinero or me. Thank you for helping little children at a very difficult time in their lives! I know you are thankful for the opportunity to help these children.

Let’s get out of our little world and do for others as God leads us. I am reminded of a friend who retired from teaching a few years ago. She said she prayed each morning for God to guide her in choosing what He wanted her to do for others thatday. He never failed to give her a name and a need.

Lord’s Day

The next workday will be for ladies only on May 21st at 9:00. Come join us that day.

May Missions at FBC, Kentwood will support Moving Mountains Ministry. The are in need of new pajamas for boys and girls.

Graduation time is here. FBC, Kentwood will celebrate seniors next Sunday.

We will have the OCC workday this morning in the fellowship hall of FBC, Kentwood, from 9:00 to noon, and love to have you join us. We have plenty of work to do to get items ready for 400 “shoeboxes”. Feel free to join us and to bring someone with you. You will be so blessed and have the opportunity to work with and get to know people you might not usually spend time with at church.

Mother’s Day will be celebrated this weekend. Baby dedication is also a part of the service at FBC, Kentwood on this special day.

This month we will collect new pajamas for foster children in our area. It’s to help a local ministry called “Moving Mountains”. Chinero Fowler will explain this ministry and the need during worship service tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Ask for soap and you will get soap! I haven’t counted the bars to see if we have enough for all our shoeboxes, but we have been blessed this past week with more soap than I ever received in one week. Lots of boys and girls will be blessed with soap and washcloths. The timing is perfect. We will repackage soap Saturday at our workday!

Today, I ask for prayer for a friend in his mid-60’s who learned yesterday his lungs are too bad for surgery. He has a fantastic attitude despite the news.

Patti Tyler fell again. Her knee probably needs surgery, but she will go through physical therapy first. Pray for no more falls and for a solution that will help her overcome the problem.

Several people are hospitalized.
*Keith Allen had heart surgery Monday.

*Mr. George Eddie Lee is still a patient.

*Mrs. Margaret Oliver is also there.

Pray for the children of Ukraine. I’ve read that children suffer the most during times of war.

Mrs. Mildred Birch is back at home and back connecting to Kenwood and beyond through her computer. Her faithful family is providing for her needs, but a phone call, message, card, or visit is always appreciated.

Pray for Mrs. Shirley Dick, formerly of Kentwood. She has several health issues. She fell recently and broke her him. Surgery was yesterday; it went well. Please pray for her healing now. Also, pray for her daughter, Renee, who cares for her.

Mrs. Ruby Dillon is doing better. She is thankful to be off the oxygen. She and Mr. “Cete” enjoy little visits like mose homebound people do.

I received a message this morning asking us to pray for Operation Christmas Child today, the quarterly day of prayer. Pray for the needs to be known and people with hearts to fulfill the command to do missions. Pray for the children whose lives will be impacted by a box full of needs, toys, and the story of Jesus.

Mrs. Mildred Birch is home and resting. Please keep her in your prayers.

A number of people have had various health issues lately. Pray for each need.

Pray for our country as the abortion issue makes headlines again.

Inflation has been a big issue in our country lately. For the third time in 30 years, the cost of shipping a “shoebox” has increased. I think we can all agree that is no obstacle in how our hearts feel about getting “shoeboxes” all across the world so children can learn about Jesus.

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.

But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

I’m thankful Brenlee Strickland was baptized yesterday and Logan Strickland is being scheduled for baptism soon. God continues to work at FBC, Kentwood.

Graduates are being recognized this month in our area churches. Be sure to share an encouraging word with them.

Baby dedications often are scheduled for Mother’s Day. This is certainly going to be a busy month.

Operation Christmas Child

We have a workday scheduled for Saturday morning. Come out and help get items ready for packing. We work until noon. Please bring a snack to share and a friend to work with us.

Samaritan’s Purse made a decision to increase the delivery fees to $10/box this year. Let’s work hard to pack each box so it will be a blessing to a boy or girl somewhere around the world. May the “shoebox” be a vital step in helping the children learn about Jesus.

The Bank Class has made $100.00 available for purchases to the shoebox ministry. They might not like to shop themselves, but they support this mission project. Thank-you for your generosity. Hopefully, some of this money will be used this week for extra items. Stay tuned….

Prayer List

Please continue to pray for Mrs. Mildred Birch as she improves and hopefully gets to come home soon.

Pray for others who have various health issues. Some of the people you might want to include are Mrs. Margaret Oliver, Mrs. Micky Cade, Mr. and Mrs. “Cete” Dillon, Mr. and Mrs. George Eddie Lee, and Bro. Joe Baugh.
