Next Week

  • Tuesday – “Young” Ladies Birthday Party
  • Friday – Bible Study followed by preparing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child

If you can help, please come to the fellowship hall at 12:45.  We would appreciate all the help we can get as we get ready for our packing party.  Friday, we will be folding the flat boxes into the proper size and shape and applying labels.  Then, the boxes will be stored until the night of the packing party.

We will need a number of boxes to hold the shoeboxes.  The size we need is that of the boxes that hold packs of paper towels or bathroom tissue (larger than copy paper boxes and smaller than refrigerator boxes).

Thank-you!

Ten ladies helped sort and inventory the items turning in for Operation Christmas Child yesterday.  We got the job done and are so please to know the items we will need to focus on getting in the next few weeks.  I’ll have that list for you real soon.

Yesterday’s devotional about 2 A.M. friends fit perfectly into the Bible study lesson yesterday!  I love the way God’s timing is always right.

Wednesday

“And whenever you stand praying,

if you have anything against anyone,

forgive him,

that your Father in heaven

may also forgive you your trespasses.”

~Mark 11:25, NKJV~

(That doesn’t mean that if you pray while seated, you don’t need to forgive others!)

Pray for Susan Rimes as she has another appointment today.  Kidney stones have been a frequent problem the last few years.  Let’s pray these last two will soon cease causing her problems.

Please continue to pray for Debbie Miller as she makes some changes to help improve her daily life.

Pray for Mr. Phillip Harrell as he makes a trip today to check on a medical issue.  Pray for the family as they continue to be good caregivers.

Sherry Day continues to get good reports.  Thank God for her progress.

Pray for a good attendance at Sunday School and worship this week.  You can be influenced by these times if you don’t put forth the effort to be there.

Pray for families as they continue to make adjustment to a new school year.

Pray for many of our local families who are dealing with sicknesses and deaths.

Pray for our schools as they influence our children’s lives for a major part of each day.

Thankful to be home! God watched over us all day. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you,

for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly

about my weaknesses,

so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

That is why, for Christ’s sake,

I delight in weaknesses,

in insults,

in hardships,

in persecutions,

in difficulties.

For when I am weak, then I am strong.

A quote I heard at church last night:

“Christians need the patience of a farmer

and the perseverance of an athlete.”

I love to have Scripture show up in timely ways.

Who would have thought this verse would come to my computer

shortly after the quote I heard?

God has a way of making his points clear to us!

May we all be more like farmers and athletes!

I talked with Wendy L. Alford at church last night.  She said her dad, Mike Lambert, is now in rehab and improving some.  Please continue to pray for Mike and his family.

Dear friends and family, I really need your prayers this week. My 2 remaining sisters will be going through some surgical procedures in the next few days. She is 81. Both will be under anesthesia which is risky to some extent. Prayers are really appreciated at this time.
