Monday

“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened,

that it cannot save;

nor His ear heavy,

that it cannot hear.”

~Isaiah 59:1, NKJV~

Thank-you!

I hear a number of reports of how God answers prayer.  I want to pass a big “Thank-you!” on to those who read and pray.  You bless so many people.  Keep on praying, please.

Nathan Daniels

Nathan’s back surgery is healing.  He will have surgery on the other side of his back in a couple of weeks.  Pray for him as he deals with pain and soreness from surgery.

Betty Taylor

Betty continues to have knee problems despite her recent surgery.  Pray for her as she sees a doctor again on Wednesday.

Frozen Food for Families

The frozen food was delivered yesterday and was greatly appreciated.  Thank-you to those who prepared and shared the food.

Vacation Bible Schools

VBS will be held this week in Roseland and the following week at New Zion.  It is so good to hear of many making professions of faith following VBS and/or summer camps.  I have been blessed to see photographs of many baptisms in the last few weeks.  God is blessing many area churches with these additions.

Two Rivers Quarterly WMU Meeting

I’m am so blessed to be able to say my daughter will be speaking at the July 20th meeting at Hillsdale Baptist Church which begins at 10:00 A.M. and is followed by a covered dish lunch.  Eight days later they will return to their mission field.

What ways will God give you opportunities to bless others today?  Let’s be eager to see how God will use us.  Don’t miss the opportunities!  You might not get a second chance to make a difference in some lives.

But do not use your freedom

rather, serve one another in love.

Wednesday

“But other seed fell on good ground

and yielded a crop that sprang up,

increased and produced:

some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

~Mark 4:8, NKJV~

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for those seeking God’s Truth.

A few weeks ago, workers arrived in Village S, a Mandinka village of West Africa to share stories from God’s Word. The woman began gathering the wooden benches that are normally placed in a shaded area surrounded by cement bricks from an unfinished building. Curious children also gathered. They had barely chosen their seats when Erik*, one of the local Quranic teachers, motioned to the group to leave the sheltered area and join him under a large mango tree. With limited language abilities and the way Africans love to talk in circles, one worker struggled to understand what was happening. Several minutes into his monologue, a fellow worker leaned over and whispered, “He’s saying all good things; saying that he knows that what we are saying is the truth. He has been listening to the program we have on the radio and wants to know more about Jesus.”

Three Kurmanji Kurdish girls befriended a believer and said, “Can you tell me about Jesus and what you believe?” “Yes, I can!” What an opportunity! One had tears in her eyes as she listened. All of them noted that their belief is on a ‘point system’ and how beautiful faith is. Pray that they will want to read the Bible, that they will continue to ask questions, and that they will believe. The one with tears in her eyes said that her neighbor across-the-hall reads the New Testament. The believer had met that woman, too, but didn’t know that she was reading the Bible. God is at work.

Please pray for the seeds of Truth to take root in the hearts of these three Kurmanji Kurdish girls and produce abundant fruit.

Operation Christmas Child (“Shoeboxes”)

  • A new month means a new list of items to purchase.  Be sure to check the table across from the kitchen in the fellowship hall.  We will begin school supplies.  By selection bags from the table and purchasing the item listed on that bag, we can be sure to get the items needed and not overlap.
  • A group of ladies has been working since last Christmas to cut and sew 300 drawstring bags so we can fill 300 shoeboxes.  I’m happy to report they have already exceeded that number.
  • The focus in the coming days will be school supplies.
  • Remember, in addition to toys, toiletries, etc. each shoebox will be a means of sending “Jesus” to children around the world.
  • If you or your class would like to contribute money so someone can do the shopping for you, that will work just fine.  We also need to purchase more shoeboxes soon.
  • If you have items you have already purchased but not delivered to the table in the fellowship hall, you can bring your items to my classroom before Sunday School any Sunday.

Tuesday

“In an acceptable time I have heard You,

and in the day of salvation I have helped You.”

~Isaiah 49:8a, NKJV~

(He hears.  Do we pray?)

Today, I have a few suggestions for our prayers:

  • Those working outside in the heat
  • Those traveling for pleasure
  • Those commuting to and from work like they do every day
  • Those in emergency rooms and doctor’s offices
  • Those at home alone, not seeing or hearing from anyone all day
  • Those who are caregivers
  • Those who are giving of themselves on mission trips
  • Those who are looking for a job again today
  • Those who are at the end of their finances before another check is due
  • Those who need medication but cannot get it today
  • Those who have roofs that are leaking
  • Those who have trees/limbs down and are unable to pick them up
  • Those who haven’t have any fresh vegetables this summer
  • Those who have no transportation to church, doctor, or stores
  • Those who need to hear about Jesus today
  • Etc.

I hope each of us will find someone who has a need and pray.  Sometimes, God will lay it on our hearts to help in an appropriate manner.  Listening, and then doing, is important in God’s plans for us.

Yesterday, I told you I was going to work on my prayer time.  I certainly had opportunities yesterday!!!  I know my prayers were heard.  My prayers for today will also be heard.  Yours will too!

Monday

“Command those who are rich in this present age

not to be haughty,

nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God,

Let them do good,

storing up for themselves a good foundation

for the time to come,

that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

Jadon’s walkaide appointment went better than expected yesterday. We were able to get his foot to move in the direction we wanted it to move. He was nervous at first but with some help from his brother he put it on. He then thought it was hilarious that it was making his foot move. We go for our 2nd appointment July 7 to see if he can walk using it. We also have an appointment for the bioness device July 12. We will compare the 2 and see what works best for him.

James is now back at home.  He and his family are also very appreciative of your prayers.

VBS Continues

This must be a very special time for children of our area as many of them attend another VBS.  Neither I or my children ever did this, but I know many children who do.  The best part is that a number of churches are reporting record breaking attendance!  Attendance is necessary for young lives to be changed through VBS.  Some area churches have not had their VBS yet, but will in the next month.  If you have children or grandchildren, “keep your ears open”!

James Rimes

James is doing very well following getting a pacemaker.  No pain, but a good appetite!
