Friday – Second Edition

I talked with Susan Frazier since I posted The Prayer Link.  She was told at 7:30 yesterday morning that Brett would be moved to rehab, but it was after 8 P.M. when it happened.  Brett is in PAM Speciality Rehab which is located near Walmart in Covington.  He will be there two weeks.  Please continue to pray for Brett and his family.

James “Jimmy” Russell Alford

Sadly, on March 24, 2019, at the age of 80, James Russell Alford (Hammond, Louisiana) passed away. He was predeceased by : his parents, William C. Alford and Elizabeth R. Alford; his grandparents, James W. Alford, Mamie Bennett, Earl E. Russell and Azlea Vernon.

He is survived by : his spouse Janie Courtney Alford; his children, Leesha Robert (Troy) and Shawn Alford (Catherine); his siblings, Bonnie Alford Newman (Harold), Donald Alford (Angela), David Alford (Anna Lee) and Alton Foster; his grandchildren, Kaleb Gleber, Tanner Gleber, Grace Alford, Caroline Alford and Mary Cate Alford. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26th 2019 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, March 27th 2019 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 27th 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home – Hammond.

 

James was born on February 25, 1939 and passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

James was a resident of Louisiana at the time of passing.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, served as 8th Ward Constable for many years, and also as a past president and board member for the Livingston Parish Fire District #10 in Holden.

Jimmy served his community as the District Deputy Grand Master of the 19th Masonic District of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, an active member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, a dedicated member of the Gideons International Organization, and the Knights Templer in Hammond. Honorary Pallbearers are David Alford, Harold Newman, as well as his Masonic Brothers. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the Masonic service at 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Arcola-Roseland Cemetery.

 

 

 

Marshall Louis Carter

January 03, 1942 – March 23, 2019

Marshall Louis Carter native to Roseland, LA, resident of Marrero, LA passed away, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the age of 77. Loving husband of 49 years to Jeannette C. Carter and dedicated father of Latrisha (Mark) Norman, Reneé (Mitchell) Guillory, Janeé Brunet (Kim Paul). Blessed Poppy of Jade Brunet and Jesse Norman. He was the son of the late, Leon and Ernestine Carter. Brother of Thomas Carter and of the late John Stewart, David, Jesse Clines, and MacArthur Carter. Also survived by sister in law, Virginia Carter and numerous nieces and nephews. He worked for Asplundh Tree Service for 25 years and retired from the Jefferson Parish School Board in 2005. “Let it shine ’till Jesus comes!”

Today, let’s pray for Debbie Wilkinson as she is at MD Anderson.  One test trial will end today and another test trial will begin.  Pray for Debbie to maintain her wonderful attitude and spirit!  Her “light” shines brightly every time I see her.
Last night at church, we talked about El Shaddai, which means “God is sufficient”.  He is!  If you doubt that, use your Bible, phone, or computer to look up verses that tell us God is sufficient.  Find some that speak to your heart and claim them for your own.  Write them in your Bible, around your house, and in your heart!
Two weeks ago, the lab tech who drew David’s labs gave his a bracelet that says “Never Give Up!”.  I wear it because it doesn’t fit him.
Pray for me as we go back today.  Pray that I might pray of each patient at the cancer center that I see.  May each one of them know that “God is enough” to meet every need they have!

The Sunday morning church service from my church is available on the church’s Facebook page, “Kentwood First Baptist Church”.  It is available live at 10:30 on Sundays and stays there for you to see as you choose.  I always share it, so it is available on my FB page and the pages of several others.
There is “work in progress”, so please overlook any little problems you see.  They are being addressed so the final product is of good quality.  In the meantime, I know you can get the message and be blessed through the preaching and the singing.
Several other local churches are also broadcasting live, so check them out too.  You will be able to participate in “church” all week long.  I love to use and to see how others use technology to share Jesus with others.  You might find a way to do so too!

Tyre L. Glass (1943 – 2019)

 

December 1, 1943 – March 6, 2019. John 3:12: “For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Tyre L. Glass, beloved, husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend went home to be with his LORD and Savior at 12:05 a.m. at the age of 75 in his home with his wife and children surrounding him. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Arcola. A veteran of The United States Navy and retired pipefitter from Local Union 198. He spent his last days with the acknowledgement from his wife, children and grandchildren that they will someday join him in heaven to have eternal life. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Alice Harrell Glass. His sister, Carolyn Amedee and brother-in-law, Bobby. His son, Harold Glass, wife, Jill Benton Glass. His daughters, Connie Glass McGrew, husband, Donnie McGrew, Donny Glass Compton, DiAn Glass Vernon, husband, Terry Vernon; Tyree Glass Howard, husband Harold Howard. He was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren, Joni Compton Bercegeay, Patrick Nolan, William Coty Bradley, Lyndsay McGrew Johnson, Katie Compton, Landon Glass, Jimmie Lynn Compton, Tyler McGrew, Ty Gilleon, Preston Glass, Wesley Howard, Ally Howard and Bailey Gilleon and their spouses. He was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren with one more blessing on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Petty Glass and Louise Durham Glass, two sisters Earline Duke and Judy McGee, son-in-law Jimmy Compton Jr, mother and father-in-law Jack and Frances Harrell Sr. Pall bearers will be his grandsons Coty Bradley, Patrick Nolan, Landon Glass, Tyler McGrew, Ty Gilleon, Preston Glass and Wesley Howard. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Arcola, 64401 I-55 Frontage Road, Roseland, LA 70456; Friday March 8, 2019. Visitation from 9-12; Service at 12 with burial to follow at First Baptist Church of Arcola Cemetery. The Glass Family would like to thank the staff of Post Acute Medical and Oshner Hospital for the wonderful care given in these last few months. Friday Addition

Asking for prayers for my son, Mike who is in the hospital in Virginia. He is in ICU for a large bleeding ulcer. They have given him five units of blood so far. The doctor went in and cauterized the ulcer Thursday morning but said if that didn’t fix it they would have to do surgery to close it up. Please remember Mike in your prayers. Thanks so much.

 

 

Please be in prayer for Tarra Lee’s mom and Allen.  Their home burned last night.  Also pray for little Emme Alstyn because this home was like her second home.

This is a big day for our family. Jennie gets to see Boyd in Richmond and David and I get back to being responsible for his medicine and other things Jennie has taken care of lately. We are so thankful she came. Next, we look forward to Jason’s family coming back in early April. Thanks to many of you who have prayed for us, brought us food, and made kind offers to help.
