Marilyn Alford Kelly

December 2, 1938 – May 23, 2020

MARILYN JEANELL ALFORD KELLY,  age 81, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Everett Kelly. Mother of Keith Alan Kelly (Nathalie), Kevin Dale Kelly (Susan) and Karen Kelly Groom (Brett). Daughter of the late Ralph Davis Alford and Margie Bankston Alford. Sister of  Walton Ellis Alford (Peggy) and the late Gaylon Ralph Alford (Peggy). Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Tristan and Saoirse Kelly, Logan and Ronan Kelly, Emma and Ethan Groom and several nieces and nephews. A native of Bolivar, La. and a longtime resident of Slidell, La. She was a retired School Teacher with the St. Tammany Parish School System. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she was very active in volunteering her time and energy.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at First Baptist Church, 4141 Pontchartrain Blvd., Slidell, LA., on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11:00 A.M.

Interment in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.

Visitation at the church on Saturday  after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Donations to First Baptist Church Pantry Ministry, preferred, in lieu of flowers.

Bro. Darryl is teaching the book of Daniel on Wednesday nights at 6 P.M.  I grew up hearing these stories and still love them.  He is digging much deeper than I did as a child.

 

 

 

Gene Allen Esch

October 25, 1940 – May 19, 2020

 

Mr. Gene Allen Esch, 79, of McComb, MS, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Gene was born in Sunflower County, MS on October 25, 1940 and was the son of Henry Esch and Grace Carroll Esch. He was a long time member at Central Baptist Church in McComb, MS. He was a Christian man. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and he loved being a “Pawpaw”. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He worked for and retired from the railroad after 34 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry Esch Jr. and two sister in laws, Miriam Esch and Arnell Esch.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 wonderful years, Mary Esch of McComb, MS; one son, Jeffrey Esch and Kristin of McComb, MS; three brothers, Carroll Esch and Shelia of Kentwood, LA, James “Jimmy” Esch of Central, LA, and Danny Esch and Anita of Kentwood, LA; four grandchildren, Ivy McKenzie and Reed of Foley, AL, Skylar Esch of McComb, MS, Virginia Esch of McComb, MS and Chase Esch of McComb, MS; five great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Please add Rene Deck Terrell to you prayer list.  She fell at home over a week ago when she tripped over a stool and has some bad cuts and bruises.  Pray for her as she sits and heals while thinking of things she had planned to do.

 

 

 

Please pray for Stan and Bettany Simmons young son, Ollie, who is facing surgery today on a knee infection that has been hard to diagnose.  You can pray based on that limited information.  Tommy and Wanda Simmons can fill you in if you ask them.

 

 

 

David and I have been quarantined for six and a half weeks.  I never thought that would happen to us, but it has and it is not bad.  The future length of the quarantine for us is likely to be longer than for most of you, but we just take this one day at a time.  Join us in praying for all those who are fighting the Covid – 19 virus and all those who are caring for them.

Pray for the disaster relief teams working just north of us in McComb.  They are doing a good job of helping people get their homes and lives back after the rounds of tornados we have had recently.  If you know someone who is working, give them a special thanks.  If you are trained and available, contact LA Baptist Disaster Relief and volunteer.  If you would like to provide something to the teams, you can also call LA Baptist Disaster Relief.

 

 

 

Once again, the weekly services from FBC, Kentwood will not be open for you to attend.  However, you can join them via Facebook or YouTube.  Sunday services are at 10:30 and 6:00 with Wednesday’s service at 6 P.M.

Our church family is happy for the arrival of Renee Josette Cerise.  She weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce and was 19.5 inches long.  Our church family may think of this child as the great granddaughter of George and Alice Faye Lee and the granddaughter of Brian and Lisa Piner.  One day when the Covid -19 virus is over, we will get to meet this precious gift from God at church.

 

 

 

Juanita “Nita” Russell Miller was diagnosed with the Covid – 19 virus yesterday.  Although Faibra Cade is not her only child, many of you may relate to “Nita” this way.  “Nita” is also  J..C. Miller’s step-mother and a precious lady of 94.  Please be in prayer for this sweet lady.

 

 

 

Eula Lee “Tullie” Cain Dean

November 22, 1932 – April 18, 2020

A resident of Kentwood passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born January 22, 1932 in Kentwood and was 88 years of age. She is survived by her 2 sons, Pascal J. Dean, Jr. and Michael B. Dean, Sr. and wife, Samantha; 2 step-daughters, Priscilla Lynch and husband, Richard, and Ora Ellen Nunnery; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Pascal “Pat” Dean, Sr.; parents, James David Cain, Sr. and Susie Easley Cain; sister, Mary Nell Woodard and husband, Virgil; brother, James David “Joe” Cain, Jr. and wife, Martha; grandson, Braden M. Cutrer; and niece, Patricia Woodard Lester. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. Today marks three weeks David and I have been quarantined.  I never dreamed this would happen to us, but it is better to be safe, than sorry.  We didn’t start with a number of days in mind, just the idea of taking each day as it comes.  This is one of those times when we don’t need/want to see the long-term future.  Continue to pray for all involved in fighting the Coronavirus.

Smiley Conerly is having some change in treatment.  Pray this is beneficial.  He’s home and thankful to be there.

How many of our children learned this in choir or junior church?  Did they learn it from us or us from them?

Thanks to churches for finding ways to help us stay connected during this time.  There’s a wealth of online services to watch.

 

 

 

Pray for nursing home residents and workers who seem to be sitting targets for the coronavirus.

 

 

 

Pray for healthcare workers who are doing their best to help those who are ill.  I’m amazed and touched by the extent the families of healthcare workers have stepped up to care for children in the family and for workers who are dedicated to caring for patients while someone else takes care of their children.

 

 

 

Pray for truck drivers, daily farmers, police, pastors, store clerks, etc. who must continue their work that benefits the rest of us.

 

 

 

Our days of staying home have been extended to April 30th by President Trump.  We must all stay home to stop the spread of Covid-19!  The sooner everyone follows the rules, the sooner this will be over!

Andy and Betty Taylor make many hospital/doctor each month.  Today is one of those days.  Pray for them, please.

 

 

 

Nikki and Wendell Rhodus are the proud parents of Arial James Rhodus who was born yesterday.  She weighed 7 lb. 11 oz. and was born at 12:37 P.M.  We all look forward to seeing this young lady and getting to know her so we can help spoil her.

Pray for Adelyn  Thornton, daughter of Josh and Danyelle.  She has five new stitches.  Josh and Danyelle’s family seems to have lots of opportunity to visit doctors.  Pray for the family.
