“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”

~Psalm 27:13 (NASB)~

Mr. “Cete” Dillon will have a heart procedure Tuesday, March 2 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Please be in prayer for him, his family, and the medical staff working with him.

David had totally lost his vision when we met Dr. O’Sullivan in New Orleans after hours on a Friday afternoon. Yesterday, we saw Dr. O’Sullivan. He is so thrilled David has eyesight. Yesterday, he told us he loved us! That’s not something we hear every day from a doctor. David told the doctor how thankful he is for the doctor and his skills. Dr. O’Sullivan said it wasn’t his doing, but God’s. David can truly say, “Once I was blind, but now I can see.” We love Dr. O’Sullivan!

Today’s Prayer Focus – Covid Vaccinations

I understand many people have received their vaccinations. As time progresses, more and more age groups and professions will also get theirs. I’m thankful for the vaccinations and praying for the covid rate to continue to drop. Thank God for the development and the administration of the vaccine all across our country. Pray it will also be available to others all around the world soon.

Please continue to pray for the many grieving families in our area.

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”

Psalm 27:13 (NASB)

Please continue to pray for Sherman Cutrer and his family. He is better, but his medical issue is not resolved.

Please continue to pray for all the families who are grieving

David‘s health has been slowly improving despite his two major issues. He has gained back his weight and is eating us out of “house and home”. His doctors are still puzzled, but we are not questioning because we know God is in charge. His blood level has been an issue for several years because his body wasn’t producing blood. He had blood work yesterday that showed his body IS PRODUCING blood again (12.8) and his ultrasound showed his liver is in the normal range. God certainly has worked miracles! Two years ago in January, David was given six weeks to live. He has had those six weeks plus two more years and counting. We thank God and David’s fantastic doctors.

Today’s Prayer Focus – Thank God for the warmer temperatures!

Last week we had some extremely cold weather. Life was miserable for us because we are not accustomed to dealing with such conditions. Let’s not forget to thank God for getting us through those days and bringing us into a season of warmer temperatures.

Audrey Faye Blades Williams

February 24, 1936 – February 20, 2021

“There is a place of infinity,  Tucked away in memory…gentle breezes stir the air, and my soul finds solace there” -Audrey Williams

Audrey Faye Blades Williams passed from this life with peace surrounded by family on February 20 at the age of 84. Expert-biscuit-maker, matriarch, devoted wife of 65 years, family historian and true southern lady… Audrey “Sister” was born to William Oscar & Ellen R. Blades Feb 24, 1936. She was raised in the Pine Ridge community of St. Helena Parish. There, she attended Greensburg High School where she was a cheerleader, basketball player and earned valedictorian honors. In 1955, she married the love of her life, James W. “Pete” Williams, Sr. and reared their four children in Baker, LA.  In her accomplished career, she was a passionate mental health advocate with the state of Louisiana. For over 40 years she worked tirelessly for the rights of the forgotten, underserved and less fortunate. As Director, she was pivotal in developing the program that brought Adult Protective Services to Louisiana, and dedicated her life to helping those in need. Arguably, her greatest achievements lay in matters of the heart. Her love story began when she met Pete at an Easter egg hunt, where she bent the rules in order to beat him.  The winner of the prize that day is still debated, as he is the one that left with the girl. After dating for several years, she decided they should see other people. Pete met her on the porch swing the next day and kindly offered to join her on her other dates, to make sure they were okay. The rest is history. The years were full of beautiful memories, constant laughter at the antics of her husband and enduring love; even in the final days. Her purest moments of joy were found in those surrounded by children. She was a homemade chicken and dumpling enthusiast, an expert decorator, gardener and floral arranger, shopper extraordinaire, passionate defender, a poet and a friend to all. Through each of life’s seasons, she held our hands intently in her own, gave the deepest hugs, and listened as if absorbing every trouble to lighten the load. A holiday perfectionist, lover of angels, dreams and spirituality, she made each gathering a magical event. Inexplicably, she had an effortless way that made everyone that knew her feel at home. There are so many things that we will miss about Audrey, none more so than her endlessly compassionate and loving soul. Audrey Faye Blades Williams, member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, is survived by her loving husband of 65 years James W. “Pete” Williams, Sr.; sons James “Rusty” Williams ( Mary); Randal Williams (Kristi); daughters Mari Ellen Wintz (Al); Sherry Williams-Jenkins;  grandchildren Adam Childers; Will Wintz; Alison Balkey; Jamie Sillivent; Michele Solomon; Chad Williams; Nicole Williams; Charles “CJ” Jenkins; Luke Jenkins; great-grandchildren Sarah and Liam Wintz; Noah Childers; Grey and Micah Balkey; Gage and Ryker Sillivent; Brooks Solomon; brothers Wilbur “Bo” Blades (Sharon); Roger Blades; Clayton Blades ( Margaret);  Linda Moore (Ric); brother-in-law Skippy Yarborough; sister-in-law Lorraine Blades. Preceded in death by parents Oscar and Ellen Blades; Sister Betty Yarborough; brothers Harold and Sonny Blades (Ernestine); sister-in-law Annette Blades; son-in-law Chuck Jenkins; and grandson John Randal Williams. Pallbearers are Adam Childers, Will Wintz, CJ Jenkins, Luke Jenkins, Chad Williams, and Al Wintz. We can’t begin to thank Rikki Lynn Hurston, (RN and niece) enough for the love and tender, skilled nursing care she provided during the last weeks of life. Donations in Audrey’s memory can be made to the Audrey and Pete Williams Social Work Field Education Scholarship at SLU, research to cure dementia, St. Jude Research Hospital, or an act of kindness to someone in need. Services will be held at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church, 3893 LA-440 in St. Helena Parish. Visitation will open to all on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. A private Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Townsend. A Graveside Service will be held at Pine Ridge Cemetery around 11:40am and will be open to all-feel free to bring a chair. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements. More and more, but not all, of of family, friends, and neighbors now have electrical power and telephone service. We are blessed! Thank-you to those who help get these conveniences restored. I grew up with a neighbor, Johnny Pritchett, who worked for the power company and a daddy, Grant Smith, who worked for the telephone company. Both of them were also volunteer firemen. I learned early in life that some are called to work to help everyone else. Thank people who serve OUR community in various ways.

Isn’t it good to wake up and each morning? Today has lots of blessing for us, phone calls, birds to watch, warm food, electrical power, water, a Bible waiting for us, etc. God is good!

David and I got out for a short trip to pick up a few groceries. As much as I appreciate my home and yard, it certainly was good to get out for a few minutes.

Please continue to pray for all the people in the south who are without heat, water, and/or power. These conditions can be harder here because we, as a country, are not prepared for them. Pray for Mrs. Mildred Birch, 90, and other senior adults who seem to be having more issues than most people. Pray also for those who are working to restore services. It is certainly a blessing to hear of people helping others. Hang in there. We have a few more days before this is over.

Thankfulness:

I hope many of you have electricity again. Even when we got electricity yesterday, my site, TPL, wouldn’t open. I’m thankful it is working this morning.

I’m also thankful to have electricity, Demco workers and others who are still out helping neighbors and friends, a husband who checked our house and other building and helped us make it through with no issues that we are aware of, highway department workers who cut tree limbs at 7:30 last night to prevent future problems, a gas stove, insulation, a greenhouse that seems to be full of living plants, warm food to keep us going, a cell phone that worked in a limited manner, a stash of water, etc. Most of all, I’m thankful to the good Lord above who watched over us all.

Check you your neighbors, friends, and family. You may be able to help them get through the present and future cold weather conditions. Just because we have power and are okay doesn’t mean everyone has progressed as we have.

Our highway has been almost empty. Today, say special prayers as more and more people attempt to get out. Pray for drivers to have wisdom if they must get out today. (Today’s Prayer Focus)

Pray for Mrs. Dora Magee, who has recently had cancer surgery and is now home and awaiting biopsy reports.

Both Bill and Velta Morris are making improvement with their health conditions. Continue to pray for them.
