Day One of Drop-Off Week

‘Twas the night before National Collection Week

And all through the land

Volunteers were busy preparing

The time was at hand.

The signs were all hung

Announcing shoebox drop-off right here

In hopes to reach millions for Jesus

Through gifts collected this year.

Families and friends, young and old

Made final touches on special gifts untold

Filling them full with toys to the brim

Or building online—it all points to Him!

Each shoebox represents a child—

turn your thoughts to this

A Gospel opportunity we don’t want to miss.

Pack a shoebox gift and reflect on the One

And the hope we have because God gave us His Son

(Shared from an Operation Christmas Child post.)

“Get up,

cry out in the night,

even as the night begins.

Pour out your heart like water in prayer to the Lord.”

~Lamentations 2:19 (NCV)~

Thankfulness – Day 15

Today, I am thankful for those who share the Gospel. They might be pastors, Sunday School teachers, missionaries, evangelists, or untitled Christians. They know our responsibility to tell others about Jesus and do so.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Thankfulness – Day 14

Today, I am thankful for all the people who grow, manufacture, package, ship, haul, shelve, or sell me the food I buy to feed my family. I know there has been a lot of effort put into the process so I can simple walk around the store and select the items I put in my buggy. Seeing empty shelving in some stores in the last few months has made me more aware of all the work that goes into the groceries I purchase. Have you considered what you would have if you had to grow/produce all the food you eat?

It’s the Lord’s day! Be blessed as you worship Him and study His Word.

Thankfulness – Day 13

Today, I am thankful for memories, sweet memories. We are all blessed with family members in our lives. With them and with friends, neighbors, and classmates we have mainly grown up with only a limited number of worries and cares. I’m thankful to have a closet full of good memories from my childhood years. I know I have been blessed.

Next week is the drop-off week for shoeboxes. FBC, Kentwood is a collection site. Please see me Sunday if you are able to help us.

Two quotes I found this morning:

Give without remembering.

Receive without forgetting.

and

Birds start each new day with a song.

Thankfulness – Day 12

Today, I am thankful for OPPORTUNITIES I have had, have, and will have. Many have helped me grow. Some have taught me lessons I needed, and some were beneficial to others. Opportunities all lead to choices. Hopefully, good choices. The path of life looks like a gameboard. There are places in life that tell us to pick up a card, read it, and choose our next move. That becomes our future.

Have a blessed day. Be a blessing to others.

Thankfulness – Day 10

Today, I am thankful for music. We all probable have a favorite style of music. I just heard the Marine band playing patriotic music on TV. My toes were tapping right away! In addition, I love the old hymns – “Amazing Grace”, “Near the Cross”, “Whispering Hope”, “I Love to Tell the Story”, “Bringing in the Sheaves”, “Sweet Hour of Prayer”, and so many more. Patriotic music and church hymns are part of my heritage. I’m so thankful!

and began following Him on the road.”

Update on Tommy Hood from his mother, Kenna:

This is where we are with Tommy’s cancer and treatment plan. After round 6 they re-assessed him and found NO tumor activity but there are still small areas where tumors are present. They have continued to shrink with every treatment. We get scans after every two treatments. Most people aren’t strong enough because of the severity of the treatments and can’t get the total 12 rounds. The sarcoma doctor said Tommy is a “rockstar” and we will get the entire 12 treatments followed by 5 weeks of radiation (5 days a week) to target any areas he has remaining. This is important because of the type of cancer and how nasty it is. We are currently on round 8. And yes, Tommy is a “rockstar” because he is getting through these treatment like a bull! He is so strong! …We can’t wait to ring the chemo bell and then we will be counting down radiation treatments so we can ring the radiation bell. It’s a long road and a tough way to live the 23rd year of your life, but I know God has big plans for my boy! Thank y’all for all the prayers, calls, texts and messages. They help so much. I would never be able to hold him up through all this without my y’all! Sending much love to you all! Thank you soooo much!”And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”- ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Rev. Billy Graham’s son, Rev. Franklin Graham, had heart surgery.

“Franklin Graham successfully underwent a specialized heart surgery today at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota,” Mark Barber, Graham’s spokesman, wrote in a statement to Fox News. “In recent months, Franklin had developed constrictive pericarditis, inflammation, and hardening of the sac around the heart that compresses the heart and prevents it from working properly. The surgery involved removing the pericardium.

“His doctors expect a full recovery and assured him that he should be able to return to his normal activity and ministry schedule,” Barber added. “Mr. Graham said that he is looking forward to multiple opportunities across the globe in 2022 to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and invite people to put their faith in Him. He is also eager to resume riding his motorcycle by springtime. He and his family appreciate everyone’s prayers.”

Joe Canale has been a resident of Amite in recent years, but is now living in a Hammond nursing home. Here’s an update from his wife, Georgia.

Update on my Honey. This morning doctor are putting in feeding tube. There has been NO improvement please continue to keep Joe in your prayers.
