Scripture Writing – September 5 – “JOY” – Isaiah 35: 1-10

 

 

 

Today’s prayer focus is on those who have recently had surgery or who will have surgery in the near future.  Pray for peace and assurance for those facing surgery.  Pray for good results and the ability to put that uncertainly behind.  Surgery is a “biggie” if it is done to you!  Help others to face, endure, and move on.

 

 

 

As we learn more and more about Hurricane Dorian, let’s pray for those who had Dorian visit them personally.  May these people be able to put their lives back together and move on with life.  Thank those who are volunteering in various ways.  Contribute to recovery by supporting Louisiana Baptist Relief in these areas, Samaritan’s Purse, and other reliable organizations who are not looking for a way to make money, but to help others.   Prayers are always important!

 

 

 

Today we have heat warnings for our area.  Be careful to stay inside as much as possible and to stay hydrated.  Use your best judgment when making decisions about being out in the heat.

 

 

 

Pray for someone you have never prayed for before, but whose name God puts on your heart.

Today, I want to focus on unspoken prayers.  Many people keep their troubles to themselves for one reason or another.  Remember these people as they carry a big load on their shoulders and in their hearts.

Fall Food Round-Up – September 16

Get your items turned in by the 15th.  A list is available at FBC.  Remember, this is to stock the LA Baptist Children’s Home for the next year.  What an honor it is to help the children by providing food for their meals!

 

 

 

Katie McElveen will be sharing about the Georgia Barnette Offering at the Two Rivers WMU meeting on September 16th at Hillsdale.  You will want to hear how our funds are used for missions in out state.

 

 

 

Remember our families with children and youth as they try to adjust to new schedules that include church, school, and extra activities.  Pray that God guides them as they make both long-term and short-term decisions.

 

 

 

Continue to pray for those in the path of Hurricane Dorian and those who have traveled or will be be rushing to help in various ways.

Continue to pray for those who have been/will be visited by Hurricane Dorian.  Thank God for those who have gone to help the people recover from the problems brought by Dorian.

 

 

Fall Food Round-Up – All food and cleaning supplies are to be picked up from FBC, Kentwood first thing Monday, September 16.  Help support these children from the LA Baptist Children’s Home.  This is our once-a-year food drive for them.

 

 

 

Two River’s Associational WMU will meet Monday, September 16 at 10 A.M. at Hillsdale Baptist Church.  Katie McElveen will be sharing about how the Georgia Barnette Offering is used in Louisiana.  A covered-dish meal will follow the meeting.

 

 

 

September 24th is the date of this month’s “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party at The Cafe.  Come for 11 A.M.  The meeting is concluded with birthday cake for ladies with September birthdays.

 

 

 

Thank God for the decisions made at our local churches recently.  May God continue to work in each church.

Continue to pray for those in the uncertain path of Hurricane Dorian.  May everyone make wise decisions about preparations for the storm.  As some people are moving out, others are moving in to help.  Pray for the Louisiana Baptists and others as they plan to be a part of the recovery.

 

 

 

Often, people make various unwise decisions on holidays.  Today, let’s pray for good choices and safe travels.

 

 

 

Today, let’s pray for the many who have been on our prayer list lately.  Let’s add one more name.  Glenda Harrell had a fall that left her with a broken food.  Let’s pray for complete healing so Glenda can continue her busy and productive life.

We had overnight guests from Texas arrive after we went to bed and sleeping a little late for my normal morning posting.  I’m thankful for the company and hope they have a great day in Baton Rouge.

Good news from MS this morning.  Carol B. Sealey got to leave the hospital yesterday.  She will still be getting therapy and other medical care.  Please continue to pray for her and her family.  Thanks to all of you for praying and to God for answering our prayers in a great way.

 

 

 

Scripture Writing – August 30 an 31

I apologize for getting my days confused this month.  Our life just doesn’t run on a regular schedule now, so I often am confused about the day.  At least that is what I am going to blame it on.

The Scriptures for September will be available at church tomorrow.

 

 

 

Counting tomorrow, there are only three more Sundays to turn in items for the LA Baptist Children’s Home Fall Food Round-up.  This is our once-a-year opportunity to help them with food needs for the next year.

 

 

 

In September, we begin to think of the annual mission offering for Louisiana, the Georgia Barnette offering.  Help us share the Good News in various ways in Louisiana.  The 2019 theme is “Impart Truth Today”.

 

 

 

I hope you are enjoying shopping for the Operation Christmas Child “shoeboxes”.  You can pack some for you as an individual or contribute the the church’s boxes.  If you need a box or boxes, please let me know.

 

 

 

I want to end the day with a very big need.  Pray for the people of Florida and other areas that will face destructive Hurricane Dorian in the next days.  Pray for those who live in areas were the storm will go.  Pray for the first responders who will be busy helping others.  Pray for the others such as the electrical power people who will be working as soon as it is safe.  I saw convoys for trucks going that way Wednesday.  Pray for Louisiana Baptist and others who will be doing disaster relief for the coming months.

Ronald Lee Eyer, a resident of Roseland, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond. He was born January 3, 1956 in Chambersburg, PA and was 63 years of age. Rev. Bill Ichter of Minden, LA moved to heaven yesterday.

Update on my Dad – Bill Ichter – August 29.
Dad is most likely in his last lucid moments. There are 32 family members here. This morning we all gathered around and sang together for about half an hour. After we sang It Is Well With My Soul, he said “Lord, you can take me now. We have all said our goodbyes, prayed together, and expressed our love. Now just my brothers and I are here with him. He is so longing to go home to be with Jesus! As much as it hurts to let him go, we know he’s ready. Thanks, everyone, for your prayers and messages, phone calls and visits. Please continue praying for all our family as we miss his physical presence in our midst. We cherish our memories of wonderful family times! How blessed we are!

 

 

Another update on my Dad, Bill Ichter –
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. 2 Timothy 4:7.
After a wonderful, precious time with most of the family by his side. Dad took his last breath on this earth and was promoted to his heavenly home. We’re so very thankful for this wonderful man – Dad and Vovo to his family and treasured friend to so many! Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Update on my Dad – Bill Ichter – August 28
Dad is very weak, not resting very well and his kidneys are not working like they should. A lot of family is coming to be with him over the next few days. Just keep praying for all of us! We sure love him! ❤️

David has had a busy week.  Monday, his blood level was 8.1 with normal being 14-18. His is low, but an improvement over where it has been lately.  He also saw a nurse practitioner and got his Procrit injection.  The Procrit is improving the blood level.  Wednesday, David saw the cardiologist and got a good report.  Then, we were seen by the family doctor during his lunch break.  David now has shingles!  We did have the shingles shot!  We appreciate your prayers, which are certainly helping us get through all the curves and bumps in this journey.

Rev. Bill Ichter, a former minister of music at FBC , Amite and a long-time music minister missionary in Brazil has had a heart attack and is in ICU in Minden, LA.  Please pray for this sweet man who has built a Christian and missionary legacy that is continuing the the next generations of his family.

 

 

 

Pray for the Bean family.  They have loved and taken care of their uncle, Tim, for the last ten years since this sister and caregiver passed away.  Doctors have told the family it is time to move him to a place where he can receive 24/7 care, so Tim is now set up like a king in the Liberty nursing home.  Pray for Tim and for the family as they all make this adjustment.

A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at her home. She was born April 13, 1950 in Tuscaloosa, AL and was 69 years of age. She is survived by her 2 sons, Johnny Ray Thompson and wife Gina and Lawerence Mitchell Thompson, Sr.; grandchildren, Lawerence Logan Thompson and wife Ashley, Koren Thompson, Katie Thompson, Lydia “Marcy” Thompson and husband Evan, Lawerence Mitchell Thompson, Jr., and Jonathan Thompson; great grandchildren, Levi Thompson, Titus Nunnery, Reese Lambert and sister, Brenda Hale and husband, Junior; 2 brothers, Herbie Gurganus and wife, Della, and Ray Gurganus and wife, Joni. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawerence George Thompson; parents, Arvel and Mildred Gurganus. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was beloved by all! Walter “W.G.” Cutrer

W.G. (Walter George ) Cutrer went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 19, 2019 after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was born July 22, 1950 to Floyd and Rowena Dreher Cutrer. After he retired from the Tangipahoa Parish School Board, he found his passion in hunting and running “his dogs”! He is survived by his son and caregiver, Will Thomas Cutrer; 2 brothers, Richard Cutrer (Paula) and Carl Cutrer. 2 sisters, Carol Ann Cutrer Cleveland (Ira) and Shirley Cutrer Newcomb and numerous extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Cutrer, and brother-in-law, Kirby Newcomb. Memorial Services to be scheduled at a later time.
