Update on Mrs. Peggy Luce:

My mom went to doctors today. She has broken nose, but it’s in line and no surgery for that. Her eye socket is fractured and not affecting her eye. She can get her stitches out on Friday! She’s exhausted from being out all morning, but doing well! Thanks for the prayers. Please continue to pray! We love y’all! Debbie

Don’t forget the OCC Packing Party Saturday at 1 P.M. Bring a Christmas snack to share. Wear Christmas colors. It is always amazing to see how quickly we can pack a large number of boxes. If you have never done this before, give it a try, You’ll want to do it every year!

Update on Mrs. Peggy Luce from her daughter:

My mom is doing pretty well today. She says thank y’all so much for the prayers, and she would like for you to pray for her tomorrow as she is going to the doctor. We will know more after her appointments. The Lord has surely watched over her and is the Great Physician! All the thoughts and prayers mean so much to us! 😘😘 She had to joke a bit tonight and said to please not put her picture on fb lol! Glad she’s joking about it!!!

David had labs, saw a new doctor, and got his Procrit shot yesterday. While at Ochsner, he learned his blood count was 9.8, the highest it has been since the MDS diagnosis. We are so thankful for the medical staff and treatment David has received. We are also thankful for the prayers many of you have faithfully uttered daily on his behalf. We believe in prayer and are especially thankful for all of you who have prayed for us since David started this medical journey.

Yesterday, we saw three Seymour sisters that I taught years ago. We had a brief, but sweet visit. One of them has had cancer. We have prayed for her as she received treatment. She looks great and is doing well now. They have pray for us, just as we have prayed for them. That’s what it is all about!

We also saw another couple we know. Although they are younger than we are, life has also started to have some medical issues for them. I ask you to remember to pray for these friends too!

Scripture Writing for October 22 – John 10: 5-8.

Yesterday, it rained on us all the way to Baton Rouge in early morning traffic and back home again. I thank God for watching over us. Although I drove locally almost daily to get to work, the grocery store, etc., David drove us any time we were together. It has been a big change for me to drive all the time, especially to all the places David has needed to go for medical attention. I have had some family members to help with the driving, but have done most of it. Sickness brings about numerous life changes that we don’t expect. God has been faithful to “ride” with us on the highway and all the other new experiences too! Many of you have offered to drive us and do things for us. We appreciate your offers and your help. It humbles us, but makes us appreciate sweet friendships so much more. Thanks for being there for us and for others when we reach our limitations. May God richly bless you for your ministry to us and to others.

OUT OF HOSPITAL THIS MORNING. DR. REPORTS SHOWED NO BLOOD CLOTS ON BRAIN NOR DID IT SHOW A STROKE OF EITHER. THIS IS NOT A BRAIN PROBLEM WITH MY EYES. HE TURNED ME BACK OVER TO MY EYE DOCTOR TOMORROW BECAUSE IT HAD A RETINA PROBLEM. AFTER SHE DECIDES WHAT TO DO I WILL ADVISE YOU. WE HAD A REVIVAL THERE IN THE HOSPITAL. EVERYONE WAS SO HAPPY IT WAS MOT A BRAIN PROBLEM. GOD IS IN CONTROL AND IF THERE WAS A BLOOD CLOT IT IS NOT THERE NOW.
PRAISE THE LORD! THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS. PRAYER WORKS MY FRIENDS! I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU. NOW TIME FOR SOME REST. THOSE STEROID SHOTS KEPT ME AWAKE. EVERYONE WAS GREAT AT NORTH OAKS HOSPITAL. THANKS TO ALL GREAT DOCTORS AND NURSES. (STILL NOT SEEING WELL SO I HOPE ALL THIS MADE SENSE).

Buddy Morris and family had a reason for a celebration. He celebrated one year free of cancer after her had treatment. The family is praising and thanking God.

Mr. John Phillips, who lives in my neighborhood, fell again. Pray for him as he recovers.

Mrs. Nita Russell Miller also fell. She had a double break in her hip and other injuries. Please pray for her too.

There will be a lot happening at FBC, Kentwood this week. It all starts with the associational WMU meeting Monday (today) morning and ends with a packing party for the shoeboxes Saturday at 1 P.M. Wednesday, we will have pray meeting and activities for the children and the youth. Don’t miss out!

A resident of Amite and a former resident of Kentwood, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond. She was born June 24, 1947 in New Orleans and was 72 years of age. She is survived by her children, Russell Walker and wife, Melinda; Judy Walker, Debbie Foster, Justin Lee, and William Carl Hayes; grandchildren, Amanda Walker, Russell Walker, II, Peyton Walker, Amy Turbeville, Bryan Knight, Shawn Walker, Josh Beddingfield, Keri Newman, Charleigh Rose Lee; great-grandchildren, Amiah Walker, Alyssee Walker, Annsley Walker, Cassie Knight, Weslynn McElwee, Thomas Turbeville, Bella Newman, Jayden Newman, Lexi Walker, Janel Walker, and Bryleigh Knight; great-great-grandson, Nathan Jones; sister, Sandy Welch. Forms will be distributed this morning and can be returned tonight or Saturday at the packing party. The forms will be place in shoeboxes for children of the same age and sex. We have prayed for Dollie Frazier and her eye problems recently. We need to continue to do so. She has been having mini strokes in both eyes and is now hospitalized at North Oaks to help her save her vision.

Calling all Prayer Warriors I am now having strokes in my right eye as well. Dr Rhodes put me in the hospital at North Oakes for a few days to try and save my right eye. Thank you for prayer. God is Master Physcian!

Let’s support her with our prayers.

One week from today, at 1 P.M., FBC Kentwood will have their packing party. You are invited to come pack and pray for shoeboxes. Wear your Christmas colors and bring a Christmas “goodie” to share with the other packers. Packing always goes quickly, so don’t be late.

Yesterday, I shared that I believe in praying. A reader responded with example of how prayer has working in their family. The more we believe, the more we will pray! I had an older friend who now resides in her heavenly home. She told me for several years about all the things she wished she could still do, but couldn’t. She always ended by saying she could still pray. She faithfully prayed for my family and the families of many of you. As soon as David and I would get settled in to visit with her, she would begin to ask about those she had been praying for. She wanted her prayers to be timely and consistent with the current needs. I miss my friend, but I greatly miss her Christian example. I’m thankful for the lessons I learned from her.

Scripture Writing for 10-18-19 – 2 Corinthians 5: 15-21

I certainly am enjoying the cooler temperatures this morning. I hope you are too! David went to sit on the porch, but came right back in. God blessed us with needed rain and cooler temperatures this week. I’m thankful!

Pray for Micah Simpson and his family. Micah will be leaving for the Marines during November. Pray for the family as they adjust to Micah not being there. Pray for Micah as he learns all about being a marine.

Our oldest grandson, Miles Hatchel, has joined the US Air Force. He doesn’t know when he will be leaving yet. My daddy, who was in the Army Air Force during WWII, will be happy about this choice.

Pray for all those in our military. Be proud and thankful they love our country and are willing to serve.

Betty Taylor shared that her sister, Glenda, has continued to improve and was released from the hospital yesterday.

Carol Ann Cleveland shared that her daughter, Betty Rainey, had the shunt implanted and was doing so well she went to a regular room rather than ICU following her surgery.

Andy Taylor’s niece had a lung to collapse for the second time. She’s better, but was informed her lung will probably collapse again. Pray her her lung to improve and for the number of collapses to be fewer than the doctor expects.

Smiley Conerly had a MRI done yesterday and will get the results in about a week. Pray for him as he searches for answers.

Buddy Morris got another good report yesterday. His good reports are not what the doctor expected when Buddy was diagnosed. Thank God for the improvement Buddy has made since that first diagnosis.

Josiah Huckaby continues to improve, but is still dependent on oxygen, which means he will be hospitalized for a while. Thank God that Josiah has two caring parents who chose him knowing he would require special care. Josiah was blessed to be chosen by Job and KK!

Ladies, make plans to be at the Two River’s WMU meeting at FBC, Kentwood Monday. Leadership will meet at 9:00 before the 10:00 meeting. All ladies are invited. A covered dish meal will follow the meeting. I thank God for the ladies who stepped up and are doing an excellent job in my absence.

Annette Patricia Allison, 54 of Wellsburg, WV died suddenly on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at home. Born on July 8, 1965 in Marrero, LA, a daughter of the late Everette L. Keith and Sylvia Stielper and Step-Father Patrick Stielper of Fallston, MD. Annette graduated Comeaux High School and went on to receive her Phlebotomist License and worked as a nurses aide at The Brooke Senior Citizen Center. She was Baptist by faith. In her spare time she enjoyed being outside and spending time with her animals. In addition to her mother she is survived by her life partner of 12 years Aaron Slovekosky of Wellsburg, WV, two sons Joshua Harry of Lafayette, LA and Jason Harry of Wittmann, AZ, one granddaughter; Lauren Harry of CA, and one sister Tammy Montelione of Weirton, WV. Visitation will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 2:00PM until Memorial Services at 4:00PM on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Services conducted by Rev. Joe Day. Inurment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood.

Today, I want to start by saying we got a great rain yesterday. I know God’s timing is always right, so I am thankful it was our turn to get some rain.

Josiah Huckaby

Josiah is definitely feeling better today. He’s been awake way more today than yesterday. He is still requiring quite a bit of oxygen but I feel like he’s kind of stabled out with that for now. The PICU dr today feels most of his symptoms are viral vs infection. He did test positive for rhinovirus, which is very common. Most kids don’t even know they have it but for kids like Josiah, it can cause some major issues. They have also narrowed down which bacteria is growing in his trach so we know exactly what he needs to be treated with. The current plan is to discharge when he gets back to his normal 0.5 L of oxygen. We have no clue when that will be. I figure at least another day or so because he’s currently on 3 L with his sats are hanging out at the lower end of his allowed range.

Two Time Changes

On Nov. 3rd, we change our clocks back one hour. Do something special for one hour that day with the extra hour.
The Operation Christmas Child Packing Party at FBC, Kentwood will begin at 1 P.M., rather than 6 P.M. We will be able to pack the shoeboxes and finish at a more reasonable time.

“Shoeboxes” – If you want to pack a shoebox(es) as a family project, please let me know. (You can message me here, see me at church, or give me a call at home.) I can provide you with a red and green official box(es). You still have a month to pack them, so it is not too late. FBC, Kentwood packs their boxes early so we can prepare to be a drop-off site in November.

Postage for Shoeboxes – It costs $9.00 to ship each box. As of the end of last week, we had collected about 70% of the amount we need to ship the FBC boxes. You can give in the church office any day or put your donation in the offering plate Sunday morning if you choose to do so. Thanks to those who have helped with postage. You are greatly appreciated!

Today, I want to thank God for another good medical report from Frances Gay. She has been faithful and so has He!

Two mothers ask for prayers for their children.

K.K. Huckaby – Josiah was admitted to Le Bonheur last night. He started having increased secretions yesterday morning & they quickly started looking funky around lunch. They didn’t improve into the afternoon & he had a low grade fever earlier in the day. He also started requiring more oxygen so we decided to play it safe & head to Le Bonheur. Long story short…God put the right people in the right places for us & we were taken straight back in the ER. They ran a bunch of test & he was negative for flu/rsv but he does have tracheitis. We are still waiting for the final reports to see which bacteria has caused this infection but they started him on IV antibiotics & will adjust them as we learn more. They are concerned about his pulmonary hypertension & pulmonary vein stenosis because he is requiring more oxygen so we will be seeing Cardiology tomorrow to see what their thoughts are. We are praying he can get some good rest tonight & that his coughing goes away. We are also praying that they figure out specifics quickly so he can get a more targeted therapy instead of a broad therapy and that this infection hasn’t or doesn’t cause his pulmonary hypertension to increase. We greatly appreciate your prayers! To God be the glory!!!
Dana Hendry – Thank you all. We had bloodwork, some tests and a ct scan. Negative on mono and strep. But ct showed many swollen lymph nodes. She will be on steroids and antibiotics the next week to see if that knocks it out. We will follow up with the doctor and ent next week. Please keep chanie in your prayers please thank you so much!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
