“. . . the gospel is God’s power for salvation

to everyone who believes. . . .”

~Romans 1:16, NKJV~

Mr. James Frazier was in attendance in church both Sunday morning and Sunday evening.  When a person who attends church as regularly as he does misses for five weeks due to a health issue, they feel so blessed to be back in God’s house.  Thank you for praying for him.

I’ve been faithful to keep up with some of my “blessings” daily this year.  Yesterday, among other blessings of the day, I was blessed to see pictures of graduates being recognized in several area churches and baptisms in several area churches.  The blessings in the lives of others blessed me as I thought of the opportunities open to those who have completed school and the greater opportunities open to those who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior.

Women’s Ministry – Opportunities for the Week

  • Operation Christmas Child – purchase some items for the “shoeboxes” we will be sending to children around the world in October.  The greatest value of the boxes is not the various items that go into the box, but the opportunities the children will have to learn about Jesus.   Make some purchases this week.  It doesn’t involve large amounts of money, just large amounts of love and and a desire to share Jesus with others.  Don’t miss this opportunity to help!
  • Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions – It’s never too late to give to missions!  Never forget that people in our own country, and Canada, need to make that great decision for themselves.  That’s what this offering funds.
  • Women of the Bible: Leah.  If you didn’t get a study guide, see Lauree or me for one.  We will meet Friday morning at 10:00 in the fellowship hall.

Opportunities of the Week

  • Tuesday – Learn about nursing homes, home health, hospice, physical therapy, etc. at New Zion Baptist Church as Toni Holland Fitzgerald shares with us.  She has had so many experiences in working in these areas that she has a wealth of knowledge to share.  If you are interested, she will be sharing at 10:30 in the fellowship hall.  You do not have to be a member at NZBC to attend.
  • ThursdayThird Thursday at the Cabin – David and I invite you to come to our cabin to enjoy sweet Christian fellowship, a bountiful, delicious meal, and a time of music topped off with a devotional and prayer.  We begin at 6:30.  Please ask me if you need directions.
  • Saturday – Help to honor Mrs. Kathryn Kuss as she celebrates her 90th birthday at the fellowship hall of FBC, Kentwood from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.  She requests no gifts.  Everyone is invited.  I was requested to invite you because no invitations were mailed to people in Kentwood .
  • Sunday – the Lord’s Day!

Try some new opportunities and be blessed!

She is in room 8012.  The phone number to her room is 225-374-8012.

Macy Gueldner

Macy completed Pre-K at Franklinton Primary School.  She was able to attend school regularly except when she had treatments or was hospitalized.  It was a good year for her.  Continue to pray for this sweet, young lady.

Miss Fay Shoemaker is home and doing very well.  Her progress in two weeks following shoulder surgery is amazing.
Hopefully, Miss Shira Easley and Mr. James W. Frazier will also be enjoying some recovery time at home soon.
Please continue to pray for Joe Easley as he continues his battle.  As you pray for him, please also pray for his family and friends.

Tuesday's Second Addition

This morning I had a MRI and visited with the neurologist at Ochsner in New Orleans who did my gamma knife brain surgery.  The doctor said:

  • My tumor is shrinking.
  • There is space around the tumor now.
  • The brain stem is no longer touched by the tumor.
  • It’s unlikely to give me any more problems.
  • Come back in five years.

I felt confident going into the appointment and confident coming out.  Thank God for His healing!

Tuesday Addition

Rev. Franklin Graham

An alarm was sounded in this USA TODAY opinion piece yesterday—You need to read about it in the link below. If same-sex marriage becomes the law of the land it could have a drastic impact on Christian universities, organizations, and churches. Those who operate by Christian principles could be severely impacted and even shut down. God hears our prayers, and we need to pray that He will work mightily in the hearts and minds of our Supreme Court justices right now as they consider this monumental issue. There are nine U.S. Supreme Court justices, and I would like to pray specifically for one each day. Today would you join me in praying for Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. who leads the court? A Harvard graduate, he was nominated as Chief Justice by President George W. Bush and has served the court for ten years this September.

Christian schools will have no choice about gay marriage:

Monday, May 11, 2015                                                                                                                                    2:45 pm
We have had a very long day.
They took Doug to surgery at 8:00, but did not begin until after 10:00. The surgeon came out and said his part was going well, but he had to stop to enable the placement of a central line. His BP was too low. Then surgeon came later to tell us surgery was completed. They did not leave him on the vent this time. He is back in the ICU and vitals are good. Praying for healing. Thank you for the texts of concern.

Jadon’s Journey

Jadon saw the orthopedic surgeon today. It was a great visit with awesome news. He said that since he is doing so well with his foot that we need to just leave it alone right now. We will keep his same brace and we are to call him if his foot starts hurting again and he said he would see us that day. He didn’t have any answers as to what he thought was causing the pain but it has gone away for now and he is doing really well. Praying it continues to improve and it doesn’t start hurting again!!
