She’s exhausted from being out all morning, but doing well! Thanks for the prayers. Please continue to pray! We love y’all!                                                                                                                                                                 Debbie

Don’t forget the OCC Packing Party Saturday at 1 P.M.  Bring a Christmas snack to share.  Wear Christmas colors.  It is always amazing to see how quickly we can pack a large number of boxes.  If you have never done this before, give it a try,  You’ll want to do it every year!

Sunday, Pine Ridge United Methodist Church will host their monthly breakfast benefit at eight o’clock.  The fellowship is good, just like the food.

Wednesday

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Operation Christmas Child could use your support as we prepare to ship shoeboxes.  One way you can help is to come to the fellowship hall this afternoon or Saturday to work on shoeboxes.  We will be filling them next month.  Another way you can help them is to share the joy of paying shipping.  The boxes will need $9.00 each to get them to their destination.  As someone who has shipped boxes internationally for more than twenty years, I can tell you the cost of shipping the boxes is a real bargain.

The senior adult revival will be held at FBC, Kentwood this morning.  At nine, coffee and donuts will be ready.  The choir will practice at 9:30.  Worship begins at 10:00 followed by lunch.  It is always a blessing be a part of the senior adult revival.  Today is the last day, so I hope you make the effort to attend today.

Today is “See You at the Pole” day for students.  As far as I know, all area schools are involved in this.  As a teacher, I was blessed to attend a number of years, starting the very first year.  What a witness it is when students share their faith with other students!  Also, tonight area youth are invited to FBC, Kentwood where there will be a celebration of the day’s big event.   This will begin at 6:30 P.M. at the Lighthouse, which is just north of FBC, K.  The flyer for this event is on my Facebook page.

“Miss” Ruby Dillon is home!  Pray for her as she regains her strength after spending a week in the hospital.

I haven’t given an update on David in a while.  He is doing well despite his two terminal illnesses.  Yesterday, his blood level was 8.6, the highest it has been in a long time.  The increased amount of Procrit has been credited with helping him.  His oncologist is leaving Ochsner to be in an area nearer family members.  We hate to see him go, but understand his situation.

The Two Rivers Senior Adult Revival will be at MBC this morning.

We will meet in the fellowship hall of FBC,K at 1 P.M. today to paint and fold shoeboxes.  Feel free to join us.

Monday

“I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.

For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.”

~Philippians 3:9 NLT~

When we got to church yesterday, I learned that this is the week for the Two Rivers Senior Adult Revival.  I changed the time of working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday to 1 P.M. to avoid a conflict.  Now, we will be painting inside the lids of shoe boxes and folding the boxes at 1 P.M. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday.  Everyone is invited to help us prepare for packing the shoeboxes.  It’s always fun to work in a group.  The greatest benefit is that boys and girls will get gifts and the opportunity to learn about Jesus!

Senior Adult Revival services begin at 10 A.M.

  • Monday – New Zion
  • Tuesday – Montpelier
  • Wednesday – Kentwood

Next Sunday, there will be a Fifth Sunday Singing at 6 P.M. at FBC, Kentwood.

Pleasee add Smiley Conerly’s name to your prayer list.  He has been having some issues lately and will be seeing a cardiologist this morning in Hattisburg.

Today, I am thanking God that David and I were able to go to both the morning AND EVENING worship services yesterday.  It’s been a long time!  That shows that despite his serious and non-curable health problems, he is better than he has been.  To God be the glory!

“God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

(We often take these blessings God sends our way without realizing they are from God.  We even neglect to thank Him when we do realize He sent the blessings to us.)

Mrs. Ruby Dillon was a little better last night.  Let’s pray for peace and comfort as the doctor solves the cause of her problem.  She’s in room 4012B at North Oaks.

Georgia Barnette Offering for LA Missions – “Mission Builders”
What does the “Painting of Shoeboxes” involve?
  • Painting an area the size of the top of a shoebox.
  • Gluing on a picture.

Who can do that?

  • Almost everyone
  • Someone who is willing (young, old, or somewhere in the middle; male or female)

See you in the fellowship hall at 9:00 Saturday morning.  Everything needed will be provided.  We just need to add people.

Once the boxes are painted, we will put them together.  Plan to be a part of that too.  You’ll be blessed!

Scripture Writing – September 18 – Psalm 16: 5-11

I know your prayers are appreciated.  David and I have been on many of your prayer lists.  Without your prayers, . . .  I don’t want to even consider that!

Sunday

“Here’s the lesson:

Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends.

Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home . . .

If you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? . . .

You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”

~Luke 16:9, 11, 13 NLT~

Lori Rhodes and her husband, Keith, served with out youth at FBC a few years ago.  Now, Lori, who is sick, will be celebrating her 50th birthday on the 29th.  If you would like to wish her a happy birthday, you can send a card to her at 214 Sherwood Lane, Huaghton, LA 71037.  Let’s make sure the Kentwood area is represented with cards.  Please feel free to add her to your personal prayer list too.
