Sunday

First, be aware of the time change this morning.  If you didn’t set the clocks back last night, you should do so now, but if you don’t you can go on to church an hour early and enjoy the extra time to read your Bible and pray.  That wouldn’t be a bad idea after all.

“Everyone should be quick to listen,

slow to speak

and slow to become angry,

because human anger does not produce

the righteousness that God desires.

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth

and the evil that is so prevalent

and humbly accept the word planted in you,

which can save you.”

~James 1:19b-21 NIV~

Forgiving others is a BIG thing.  It is certainly not a Godly trait to hold grudges.

THANKS!

So many people contributed to the shoeboxes, to packing them, and to shipping them.  We were a little short of our goal for shipping, plus we packed an extra ten boxes so we will need a little extra money today ($7.00/box).  Our church set and surpassed an all time record for the number of boxes packed.  The children who receive these boxes will be so blessed by all the treasures they find.  My hope is that they also find Jesus!

Mrs. Theople Hurst came to church yesterday afternoon to help prepare the boxes for the packing party and stayed until every one was ready for deliver.  Pray for her as she continues trying to get a diagnosis and treatment for her recent health issue.

Gold City and Andy Taylor

It’s not ofter a group such as Gold City comes to the Kentwood area, so make your plans to be at The Lord’s Church at 6 P.M. tonight.  To add some “icing” to the event, Andy Taylor will be singing during the intermission for Gold City.  Tickets were not sold. Donations will be received tonight.

Hope Center had another good week.  We have learned that appliances and furniture are in big demand.  If you have something and cannot transport it, please call Hope to make arrangements for a pick up.  The number there is 247-2235.  Remember, they are not open of Monday, but work half a day on Saturday.  Thanks for volunteering and for making purchases there.  So many people are being blessed.  The number of people signed up for the food bank is more than two hundred!  We are providing better and better boxes each time.

Devotional, Scripture, and a Song

Reminder:  Tuesday the “young” ladies of FBC,K will celebrate the October birthdays.  We had to delay this by a week, but will meet Tuesday at 11:00 at The Cafe.  Join us for a sweet time with a number of ladies from the church.

Reminder number 2:  Today is the day to bring your frozen  food for a family.  Please bring your quart size filled bags to my Sunday School classroom before Sunday School.  The food will be delivered this afternoon.  Your efforts will greatly assist the people!

Have a blessed day!

I remember hearing this song for the first time.  I was at Natalbany Baptist Church.  Uncle Charles Tolleson was leading the music for revival.  After church, I asked my parents why 99 sheep would be left alone just so one could be saved. That very night, I learned how important each and every person is to God.  I was five or six years old and have loved the song every since.  I just shared the story with David for the first time.  I’m glad the devotional for today triggered this memory.

I hope this “favorite” sticks with me today and that I remember the value of each person to the kingdom forever.
