I will sing praises to You among the nations.”

~Psalm 57:9, HCSB~

This morning when I started to work on The Prayer Link, I was surprised and pleased to hear there songs:

I have a long list of prayer requests this morning, but first I want to share a list I made as a result of our prayer meeting service last night.  It is an orderly way to organize my prayers. I hope it serves as a guide to you too.  Feel free to make your own.

Jeana Lee-Newton

Pray for Jeana.  She’s back in the hospital.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher

Flo had a better day, a much better day.  She started chemo.  It is a kind that will not make her sick or cause her to lose her hair.  Pray today is another good day.

Mr. James Miller

Mr. James is home.  I don’t know that they solved his health issues.

Rufus Williams

Rufus is home again after a round of dehydration.  Pray for him as he sees a new doctor and seeks a solution to his problem.

Lisa Pitre

Lisa’s surgery went well.  She’s uncomfortable, but hopefully that won’t last too long.

Barrett Travis

Pray for Barrett, his family, and the medical staff as he has surgery today.

Bring Your Bible to School Day!

  • I saw an advertisement on television yesterday and looked it up.
  • Tomorrow is the day, but I’m not involved in the schools any more and don’t know what the  current rules are.  I’m sure it will be fine in some schools, but am not sure about all of them.
  • Tomorrow is the day!  Check it out today if you or family members are involved.

While visiting some friends yesterday, I was impressed with these and similar statements:

  • God still has a purpose for me.
  • He must not be finished with me yet.
  • I don’t understand, but I don’t ask Him why.
  • I hope I am pleasing Him.
  • I’m ready to meet my Maker.

That will get you to thinking about your own life!

Monday

These are the things you are to do:

~Zechariah 8:16~

Please continue to pray for Mrs. Bonnie McMillan, Mrs. Catherine Yarborough, and Mr. James Miller who continue to be at North Oaks.

Mrs. Bessie Hayden has been sick for several weeks.  Yesterday, she made special efforts and attended church.  Pray she will soon be feeling better.
The Frozen Food for Families was delivered yesterday.  It was greatly appreciated.

Greenlaw Baptist Church is having revival.  Some of you may want to attend.  Each night begins with supper at 5:00.  The supper is provided by the church.

The Lord’s Church will host the annual associational meeting next Sunday evening.  Members of all area churches are invited to attend.  The service begins at 6 P.M.  If you wish to sing in the associational choir, you will need to be there earlier.

I just received a message from a lady who told me she made purchases for Operation Christmas Child and where she left them for me to find.  I certainly appreciate each person who helps.  What a blessing we receive when we give to such worthy causes!

Yesterday, as we prepared to leave church, a father and daughter stopped me to ask about what the daughter could purchase for Operation Christmas Child.  I gave them my thoughts.  Last night, the daughter called to tell me what she purchased and said she would be able to get more things.  She also told me she would be a part of packing the shoeboxes.  That’s the way you feel about OCC.  You cannot do enough to help pack the shoeboxes.  I’m thankful for that father who came with his daughter to talk with me and who encouraged her to be on the giving side of this project.  She is so blessed to have family members to encourage her young heart in the right direction.

Let’s allow the change in the weather be an encouragement to change something we do. There might be a bad habit that needs to disappear or a new one we need to develop.  This is a great time of the year!  We can make it even better by making some positive changes in our lives.

Friday

“They continued steadfastly

in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship,

in the breaking of bread,

and in prayers.

And the Lord added to the church daily

those who were being saved.”

~Acts 2:42, 47b, NKJV~

Are we steadfastly doing the same things?

Today, let’s pray for various age groups in our churches.  As you pray, you can name some people in each age group and the names of the people in your church who work with them.  Then, start over and name some people in each age group who do not attend church.  I think you have a lot to pray for today!

      1. We gather together
      to ask the Lord’s blessing;
      he chastens and hastens
      his will to make known.
      The wicked oppressing
      now cease from distressing.
      Sing praises to his name,
      he forgets not his own.

      2. Beside us to guide us,

      ordaining, maintaining
      his kingdom divine;
      so from the beginning
      the fight we were winning;
thou, Lord, wast at our side,
      all glory be thine!

      3. We all do extol thee,
      thou leader triumphant,
      and pray that thou still
      our defender wilt be.
      Let thy congregation
      escape tribulation;
      thy name be ever praised!
      O Lord, make us free!

But he said to me,

“My grace is sufficient for you,

for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly

I delight in weaknesses,

in insults,

in hardships,

in persecutions,

in difficulties.

Georgia Barnette Offering for Louisiana

The President’s 2020 Commission challenged Louisiana Baptists to start 300 new churches by 2020. From 2010 through July 2015, 112 churches have been planted.

  • In 2014, Louisiana church plants recorded 435 baptisms, and 135 baptisms have been reported through mid-2015.
  • Last year alone, more than 1,800 professions of faith (1,857) were reported by the 112 new church plants. Through July 2015, 555 people have professed their faith in Christ!
  • Of the 70 church plants currently receiving supplement through the Georgia Barnette State Mission Offering, 15 of those are Hispanic church plants. The Hispanic population is the fastest growing language group in our state.
  • Church planters employ many methods to connect with their community, including sports camps, block parties, lunch bags for homeless, door-to- door canvassing, prayer walking and cold water stations at local festivals. One new church plant held a music camp where 55 people attended the camp and saw 4 professions of faith.
  • Volunteer mission teams assist new church plants by leading VBS, Backyard Bible Clubs, door-to-door contacts, prayer walking, construction
and repair (both at the church’s meeting site and in community homes). The goal is to connect with the community, point people to Christ and to the new church plant.
