Wednesday Afternoon

For those who are not going on a mission trip next week

We have a need to fulfill in the next week for our team going to Brazil. We need 300 travel size tooth brushes and tooth paste and also snack bars. If you would like to donate these items or make a monetary donation to the cause please let Dana Hendry or Bro Mike Shoemake know. Thank you.

If you don’t know these two people or a member of East Fork,  you can get your donation to me.  I’ll gladly pass it on.  (Anna Lee)

Wednesday

“But other seed fell on good ground

and yielded a crop that sprang up,

increased and produced:

some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

~Mark 4:8, NKJV~

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for those seeking God’s Truth.

A few weeks ago, workers arrived in Village S, a Mandinka village of West Africa to share stories from God’s Word. The woman began gathering the wooden benches that are normally placed in a shaded area surrounded by cement bricks from an unfinished building. Curious children also gathered. They had barely chosen their seats when Erik*, one of the local Quranic teachers, motioned to the group to leave the sheltered area and join him under a large mango tree. With limited language abilities and the way Africans love to talk in circles, one worker struggled to understand what was happening. Several minutes into his monologue, a fellow worker leaned over and whispered, “He’s saying all good things; saying that he knows that what we are saying is the truth. He has been listening to the program we have on the radio and wants to know more about Jesus.”

Three Kurmanji Kurdish girls befriended a believer and said, “Can you tell me about Jesus and what you believe?” “Yes, I can!” What an opportunity! One had tears in her eyes as she listened. All of them noted that their belief is on a ‘point system’ and how beautiful faith is. Pray that they will want to read the Bible, that they will continue to ask questions, and that they will believe. The one with tears in her eyes said that her neighbor across-the-hall reads the New Testament. The believer had met that woman, too, but didn’t know that she was reading the Bible. God is at work.

Please pray for the seeds of Truth to take root in the hearts of these three Kurmanji Kurdish girls and produce abundant fruit.

Operation Christmas Child (“Shoeboxes”)

  • A new month means a new list of items to purchase.  Be sure to check the table across from the kitchen in the fellowship hall.  We will begin school supplies.  By selection bags from the table and purchasing the item listed on that bag, we can be sure to get the items needed and not overlap.
  • A group of ladies has been working since last Christmas to cut and sew 300 drawstring bags so we can fill 300 shoeboxes.  I’m happy to report they have already exceeded that number.
  • The focus in the coming days will be school supplies.
  • Remember, in addition to toys, toiletries, etc. each shoebox will be a means of sending “Jesus” to children around the world.
  • If you or your class would like to contribute money so someone can do the shopping for you, that will work just fine.  We also need to purchase more shoeboxes soon.
  • If you have items you have already purchased but not delivered to the table in the fellowship hall, you can bring your items to my classroom before Sunday School any Sunday.

Friday

But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you,

then choose for yourselves this day

whom you will serve,

whether the gods your forefathers served

beyond the River, o

r the gods of the Amorites,

in whose land you are living.

But as for me and my household,

we will serve the LORD.”

~Joshua 24:15~

Nathan Daniels

Please continue to pray for Nathan this week as he deals with the aftereffects of his surgery.  I know he and his family will appreciate your prayers.

James Rimes

James is now back at home.  He and his family are also very appreciative of your prayers.

VBS Continues

This must be a very special time for children of our area as many of them attend another VBS.  Neither I or my children ever did this, but I know many children who do.  The best part is that a number of churches are reporting record breaking attendance!  Attendance is necessary for young lives to be changed through VBS.  Some area churches have not had their VBS yet, but will in the next month.  If you have children or grandchildren, “keep your ears open”!

Ladies’ Night – The highlight of our “F.R.O.G.” meeting last night was the testimonies shared and the special music by Bubba Roberts.  We now have a new acrostic:

W – Working

A – At

T – Trying

T – To

F – Fully

R – Rely

O – On

G – God

None of us are 100% yet, so let’s keep striving to F.R.O.G.

“Lil Man” Santangello

Update from Megan: “Hey everyone! Today we met with Lil Man’s neuro oncologist and radiation oncologist to go over his MRI. The MRI scan looked great! The doctors were amazed at how well he is doing when a month ago he couldn’t even walk. He responded wonderfully to the chemo and radiation that he completed on May 22nd! He will follow-up in August with another MRI. But until then, he will continue with oral chemotherapy and his IV Avastin (IV chemo). He will now be getting the IV Avastin every three weeks instead every 2 weeks!! All the glory be to God, for without him Lil Man would not healing like he is!! Thank you for all the prayers, love, and support! Keep the prayers coming, God hears them! We love you! ” Megan

VBS at FBC,Amite

The attendance report is that there are more children than they have had in a long time!  Yeah!   That means more children who hear “the greatest news/message of all times”!

VBS at EFBC

I don’t have a count, but many tote bags were packed last week at East Fork because of VBS giving.  The gift bags are being delivered to flood victims in north Louisiana.  Great work, EBBC!  May each recipient find God’s love and encouragement in their bag as well as many items you purchased!
