“You are standing side by side

one strong purpose —

to tell the Good News.”

~Philippians 1:27 TLB~

Macy Gueldner

Macy completed Pre-K at Franklinton Primary School.  She was able to attend school regularly except when she had treatments or was hospitalized.  It was a good year for her.  Continue to pray for this sweet, young lady.

Miss Fay Shoemaker is home and doing very well.  Her progress in two weeks following shoulder surgery is amazing.
Hopefully, Miss Shira Easley and Mr. James W. Frazier will also be enjoying some recovery time at home soon.
Please continue to pray for Joe Easley as he continues his battle.  As you pray for him, please also pray for his family and friends.

Saturday

                        LORD, you establish peace for us;

all that we have accomplished you have done for us.

My aunt’s husband in Texas, John Orr, got a good report on the mass in his bladder.  He will not need any additional treatment to follow up on the surgery that has already been done.

Joe Easley of the New Zion community is having kidney problems.  Please pray for this man and his family.  The last few years have been very difficult for them.

Doug Toney (Written by his wife, Sandy)

FRIDAY May 8, 2015

Doug is still not very alert. Vitals are fairly stable with an occasional episode of high Blood pressure or high heart rate. They did an ultrasound of abdomen and found his gall bladder inflamed with sludge. Waiting to talk to the surgeon. Also, a wound care nurse will come today to check his incision. Brooklyn and I will go check out two long term acute care centers tomorrow. Please continue to pray for his healing. Also, please pray for our friends- Jeanne Terrell and Paul Hancock who are struggling with major health issues, too.

Thanks for praying for my unspoken request yesterday.  Surgery went well.  The man should be able to come home today.

Melissa Johnson needs our prayers to deal with a continuing problem with one arm.  You may remember she fell and broke both arms.

Did not get the news I wanted this morning at the doctors office. The doctors wants to take the hardware out of the left arm . The right arms hardware is great. Being the smooth talker I am I got him to agree to let me have two more injections so that will buy me almost a year to get better!!! Not ready to give up and that gives me more time to pray and get better! I still believe I can beat this!

Mrs. Annie Bell Harrell is doing better and looking forward to the team from church that will take the Lord’s Supper to Mr. Phillip and her tonight.

The Frozen Food for Families was a big hit again this month.  We added a new recipient this month.  He was very appreciative.

Let’s pray for summer activities, especially Vacation Bible Schools in all the churches.  Pray for those who will work in each one of them to be well-prepared so they can share their love for Jesus and His love for each of us with the children.

Doug Toney – Please keep praying for Doug and Sandy.

Well friends, the day has been a bit better. The doctor turned the vent so it works more like a c-pap machine. Took away all sedation. This was at 9:30 and was to be for an hour. About 4:30 he came back, turned machine so Doug was doing more work and left it. He left orders to turn it back if he has trouble. He is not awake much yet, but he has been sedated since late the 23rd. His bicarbonate was up-good sodium-up(bad). Lots of other issues. Vitals are good. He has a long way to go to get well, so please continue to pray. Thank you.

Operation Christmas Child

Check out the boxes in the hallway across from the church kitchen to get some bags telling you what size t-shirts to buy this month.  All shirts this month are for girls.  Encourage you children and grandchildren to help you pick out items for the shoeboxes.  This will be a wonderful lesson to teach them.  You can get items individually or with your class.

Frozen Food for Families

Put a note with your Sunday School book to remind you to bring your frozen food Sunday.  You’ll be blessed as you bless others.

Thursday

For everyone born of God overcomes the world.

This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

I John 5:4 (NIV)

Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways.

The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith.

The person who wins out over the world’s ways

is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.

I John 5:4-5 (The Message)

Sandra Mays (NW Alabama)

Sandra (my sister’s sister in law) is going for more test today, reports from yesterday were pretty good. They said did not need heart transplant…Thanks for putting her on the Prayer Link. Sandra specifically asked me to put her name on there.

Lalou Schweble Voight (former student in Amite)  Lalou had cancer surgery.

I’m getting better … Slower than I would like. … I appreciate all the prayers and comforting words.

Jadon’s Journey

Sorry I haven’t updated on Jadon’s foot. We still really don’t know what is going on. It is a little better and he isn’t complaining as much. He has such a high tolerance to pain that we don’t know if it is still hurting him or not. All he says is he doesn’t want to go back to that hospital with all the fish tanks and get another cast frown emoticon We go to the brace doctor tomorrow to see what he says. Hopefully he has a plan.

Sue Ellen Russell Pearson (my classmate)

Treatment today at the Cancer Center.Bloodwork was perfect. I am feeling good. Thanks to each of you for all the prayers and good thoughts!

Lalou Schwebel Voight (former student in Amite)

Went to doc today and got good news. Still dont know about chemo or radiation., but pain level is very low and I am getting around much better. So things are looking good so far.

Doug Toney (husband of former classmate)

The Pulminary doctor said Doug’s lungs are very happy.leaving vent on which means sedation. This is good because he doesn’t need pain meds. Pain meds do not agree with him at all. Just continue to pray. Thank you.

….

Doug did not want to wake up today when they gave him a sedation vacation. They halved the sedation. Giving diabetic friendly nutrients via ng tube. Bicarbonate in drip for acidosis and another med for stomach. No infection in blood. A gastroenterologist will see him tomorrow and the surgeon will check incision drains in the morning. He is still very ill, but maybe a bit better.
Macy Guelder (Franklinton, granddaughter of former school friend)
Macy’s hair is starting to fall out again, and that makes my heart sad. I saw a few strands of hair on her shirt, so I ran my fingers through her hair and plenty more strands came out. There hasn’t been an increase in her chemo, so I’m a little surprised. Her hair has been growing since July, and it’s very thick, so maybe most of it will stay. We’ll see…
Fay Shoemaker (church friend) –  Miss Fay’s surgery Monday went well.  She was to move to physical therapy yesterday.  Keep praying for her as she recovers from the second shoulder surgery.
Rev. Franklin Graham
  • Our Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains arrived yesterday on the streets of Baltimore. They are there to pray with people, to encourage calm, and to share God’s love. There are dangerous gangs who want to control the streets and cause more havoc. Pray that God will use these chaplains in a mighty way and that peace will be restored to this devastated city.
  • The Supreme Court heard arguments today relating to same-sex marriage. God is the One who made us male and female, and He defines marriage as between one man and one woman. There is no argument with what God has ordained. It is shameful that our country has declined so much morally that our courts are confused and would even hear this argument. Join me in praying that God would intervene and give these justices a glimpse of His heart and that they would make this decision based on His standards. Remember, two men cannot make a child; two women cannot make a child. This is a fact. Everyone alive today is the result of the union of a man and a woman. It is just simple biology, and the courts can’t change that.
  • A devastating earthquake hit Nepal this morning near the country’s capital city, Kathmandu. News outlets are already reporting over 1,400 dead, and that number could dramatically rise in the next few hours and days. Our Samaritan’s Purse team is deploying to the disaster site to bring emergency relief in Jesus’ Name to the survivors. The people of Nepal urgently need our prayers. Lord’s Supper for Homebound

Last night, a number of people from FBC, Kentwood went to various homes for a time of singing, prayer, the Lord’s Supper, and fellowship.  I was a one of an eight person team that went to visit Mrs. Susie Wales.  (I would have loved to have been in each home, but all the visits were at the same time.)  “Miss” Susie and each member of the team contributed to the visit.  She told us over and over how thankful she was we were there.  She walked to the door and stood there waving until we backed out.  What a great night it was!

I’m looking forward to going to another home next week.
