Tuesday

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross,

so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;

“by his wounds you have been healed.”

~1 Peter 2:24~

Daryl Carruth has improved from the problems he had Saturday.  Thank God for the progress he has made.

Harrell Sharkey is out of ICU and now on the 6th floor at Ochsner in New Orleans.  Susie gladly made another move within the hospital.

Jimmy and Linda Williams are hospitalized in two different hospitals.  She is not at Greensbury and improving after an infection.  He is at Lacombe where he was admitted with heart related problems.  Let’s pray they both continue to improve and can be at home together soon.

Justin Lambert has thrilled his family with some intentional movements!  Since his accident over a month ago, the actions yesterday were the first like this.  The family thanks you for your continued prayers.

Rev. Tommy Hicks is walking some at the hospital following back surgery.  “Miss” Lois is recovering from having teeth removed and praying for no infection this time.  Pray for good progress for both of them.

Andy Taylor‘s eye procedure is today.  Please pray.

Jesus turned and saw her.

“Take heart, daughter,” he said,

“your faith has healed you.”

And the woman was healed at that moment.

~Matthew 9:22~

Please pray for Andy Taylor as he has an eye procedure Tuesday. ( Didn’t he do a wonderful job singing Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” Sunday morning?)

Mr. Harlon Toney had an out-patient procedure Thursday.  Pray for him as he recovers and waits for a lab report.

Daryl Carruth is better, but still not “up to par” yet.  Please pray for him.

Thank-you for reading and praying today.

Sunday

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,

we considered him punished by God,

stricken by him, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions,

he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

~Isaiah 53:4-5~

Today is the Lord’s day!  Give it to Him!
I attended the 50th wedding renewal celebration of friends last night.  It was so special.  I know God was honored to watch and blessed  them on the journey.  They shared the night with Him!  It heard several people say this was the most special renewal they have ever attended!  How much happier marriages would be if they allowed God to be their focus as this couple did.

Saturday

“Now glory be to God,

who by his mighty power at work within us

is able to do far more

than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of —

infinitely beyond our highest prayers,

desires,

thoughts,

or hopes.”

~Ephesians 3:20 TLB~

Please pray for Daryl Carruth of Greensburg.  He had a bad spell yesterday.  He was diagnosed with dehydration and an infection.  He’s home again, but not feeling his best yet. We all get busy outside and sometimes forget to take care of our bodes.  Please be careful to keep plenty of fluids in your body in this HOT weather!  When you don’t, your symptoms can be very frightening.

Tomorrow will be the 5th Sunday of the month.  Some area churches have special times for music.  If you are available, you may want to attend or even participate.

FBC, Kentwood will hold their second annual special day for first responders tomorrow.  The morning worship service will recognize them.  Later, everyone will be served a jambalaya lunch with lots of homemade desserts.  We are very thankful these people are in place when we need them.  Let’s take the time and make the effort to show our appreciation all the time!

Harrell Sharkey is having some difficult days following surgery.  Please continue to pray for him.

Rev. Tommy Hicks long surgery had some complications, but the doctor says he will be much better after the recovery time.  Please pray.

Mr. Burnell Simpson is back in the hospital.  He was home for this 92nd birthday Tuesday.

Sherman Cutrer is home and improving.  Please continue to pray for Sherman and Jewel Kay.

Today is a good day to wear police blue to show you support for law enforcement.  I love all the support the emergency workers have been given.  It think it should be all year long every year.

Look up “Until He Comes” on bpnews.net.

Operation Christmas Child Notes – We will be putting handwritten notes in each shoebox we pack this year.  If you would like to have one included, please write it and give it to me.  I’ll see that it gets put in a box.  You can include a photo, your name and mailing address, and words of encouragement. The children at Children in Action have already written some cards.  Next week, they will participate in some preparatory work for packing the shoeboxes.  Our offering this month, our first month, will be used by a parent/teacher and a child to make some purchases for us.  I know this will be exciting for everyone.

Children on Mission and Mission Friends had another good night last night.  We had several new children and two more children than the week before.  One of the things we did last night was to discuss missionaries helping refuges by building tents.  Also, we are enjoying learning some songs and praying for missionaries and MKs. We compared out diet with theirs and found lots of foods we eat.   Next week, we will have our first test on books for the Bible by stacking cups.  Send your little ones next week if they are not already coming.  We’ve have a wonderful first month and look forward to many more nights together.

The Operation Christmas Child packing party will be the last Saturday of October.  Mark your calendar.

Wednesday

In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom

and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

~Revelation 5:12~

Children on Missions (grades 1-5) and Mission Friends (ages 3-5) will meet from 6 P.M. – 7 P.M. tonight in the L-wing.  We are growing in number and hope to continue to grow.  What fun we are having as we learn about missions!

Friday Morning Bible Study – 10 A.M. – It’s always a good day to join the group.

Operation Christmas Child items are coming in.  One class has asked for a suggestion list for them.  I will provide one them and any other group that wants one.  We are now in the process of grouping and counting items collected so far.  I’m so excited.  I hope you will all get involved and catch the spirit of helping the children again this year.

The “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party yesterday required an additional table again this month.  What a blessing to gather with other ladies for a meal, cake, and Christian fellowship!

Tuesday

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,

neither angels nor demons,

neither the present nor the future,

nor any powers,

neither height nor depth,

nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us from the love of God

that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~Romans 8:38-39~

Justin Lambert continues to make those around him of tiny steps of improvement.  They are so very appreciative of your prayers and ask that you continue to pray.

David will have eye surgery in a couple weeks.  Hopefully, this will be the last one!

“Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party at 11:00 this morning at The Cafe

This is the day the Lord has given us.  Let’s try to do our part today.

Monday

“Encourage those who are timid.

Take tender care of those who are weak.

Be patient with everyone.”

1 Thessalonians 5:14b NLT, 2nd Ed.

Mr. Burnell Simpson was able to come home yesterday, just in time to celebrate his 92nd birthday Tuesday.

Mrs. Estelle Raborn has improved enough to be moved from ICU to a regular room at North Oaks.

Many of you may know Rev. Tommy Hicks and his wife, Lois.  She had an infection following  dental work that caused her to spent a number of days in the hospital.  She is home now.  Thursday, he will another back surgery.  Pray for both of them as they help each other through these difficult days.

David will be seeing a cornea specialist today and hopefully set up a time and plan for another eye surgery.  His road to get his cataracts removed from his eyes has had a number of boulders, not just rocks, but we are making our way around them and hope the end of this journey will be found in the coming months.  Please keep praying for him.

St. Helena has a special gathering to honor and pray for local police last night.  Due to the rain, they met at FBC, Greensburg.  It was a very special time for everyone present.  New Zion Baptist Church has made baskets and provided summer beverages for the police in two area towns.  The people responded in a great way when given the opportunity to help.  I’ve heard many other ways people have shown their appreciation to police officers.  I challenge you to do/say something to every police officer you meet this week and over the years to come.  I know they will be encouraged by your efforts.
