Josiah Huckaby
So Tuesday we got a bittersweet surprise…after 371 days in the NICU Josiah “graduated” to IMCU. There are 2 reasons why we were transferred:
1. Josiah couldn’t get all of his 1 year vaccines in the NICU because some of them are “live” vaccines.
2. IMCU is an intermediate care unit that specializes in prepping families to go home with medical equipment.
We are so sad about leaving our NICU family & we can’t thank them enough for the amazing care & love they have shown our little family. We are excited that this means we are one step closer to coming home. IMCU will help get us comfortable with all of Josiah’s daily care (bath time, medicines, trach care, etc.). Also, they have playgroup so we will get to practice getting his equipment together and “traveling” (down the hall) with him. This is definitely a big adjustment for us since we are having to get to know new doctors, nurse practioners, nurses, and respiratory therapists…and they are having to get to know Josiah (with all of his little quirks) and us. God is so good & we can’t wait to see what He has in store for us as a family.

Many of you may have learned this news on Wednesday afternoon; I hope so because that means you have already begun praying. I received an email just before 5:00 on Wednesday. Here’s the copy as it came from IMB:
“It is with a heavy heart that I share this news. This morning (Wednesday, March 13), in the Democratic Republic of Congo, four missionaries in Africa were involved in an automobile accident: Randy and Kathy Arnett and Jeff and Barbara Singerman, along with a national driver named Jean Louis. Kathy Arnett was pronounced dead at the scene, and Randy Arnett was pronounced dead at the hospital in Kinshasa. Jeff Singerman has sustained injuries and is en route, with Barbara, to the hospital in Kinshasa from a clinic near the accident. Leadership on the field and in Richmond have been working on the situation. We wanted to let you know as soon as we could confirm that the families have been properly notified. Please continue to pray for this situation, and remember to be considerate of the family if you share this information. We want to ensure that we communicate accurate information and that we respect the families’ privacy. We will follow up with further information as we have it.”
As you pray for the family of these two couples and the driver, please pray for other team members in the DRC. These include Kathy Shafto, whom many of us know and love dearly. Kathy and her husband serve with this team very closely and are impacted by this tragedy. Kathy was last with us at the WMU Mission Celebration at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City. She is “one of us,” growing up in Bayou Macon association, graduate of LA Tech. She served on our GA Camp staff while she was teaching before going to seminary. Please do pray for her husband, Jay, as he manages many of the details.

July 23, 1953 – March 14, 2018
A resident of Hammond passed from this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Covington. He was born July 23, 1953 in Independence and was 64 years of age. He served as an Alderman and Volunteer Fireman. He was Market Manager at various supermarkets for 30 years and spent the last few years of his life in the auction industry. He enjoyed vacationing, live gospel singing, and spending time with his family. He always had a way to make people laugh. He is survived by wife, Kathy, Hammond; 2 sons, Greg Cutrer and wife, Kristi, Zachary, Brent Cutrer and wife, Bridget, Hammond; grandchildren, Brittni, Danielle, Emili, Bailey, Breanna, and one grandchild to be, Brenleigh Jade; 2 brothers, Jesse Cutrer and wife, Eveet, Walnut, MS and Mark Cutrer and wife, Stephanie, Roseland; special adopted sister, Teresa Bamburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Eddie and Ola P. Cutrer; brother, Ralph Cutrer.
