Shane Wilkinson had a wreck yesterday because he blood sugar got too low.  He is okay, but his vehicle is not.  Thank God Shane is okay.

 

 

Bro. Rusty Durant’s father-in-law passed away.   Please be in prayer for Melissa and other family members.

Nita Hayden Lea

March 12, 1933 – January 05, 2019

Nita H. Lea, a resident of Amite, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born March 12, 1933 in Independence and was 85 years of age. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and loved teaching Sunday School. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Lea Frazier and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Kami Frazier Bourque. Preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Orval Hayden; husband, Charles Frank Lea, Sr.; son, Charles “Chuck” Lea, Jr.; sister, Rose Fagan; brothers, Carl, Billy, Steve and Ronnie Hayden; grandson-in-law, Steven Bourque. Elmer “Rip” Rohner

February 13, 1934 – January 5, 2019

And a resident of Kentwood died early Saturday morning January 5, 2018 at his home. He was the owner/operator of Amite Sign Company for 43 years and the owner of The Pines in Kentwood for many years. Rip loved to play his bass guitar at home and often played during services at various churches that he attended in the area. He enjoyed fishing and liked to keep a well landscaped and manicured lawn. Rip always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton. LA) on Tuesday January 8th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Clay Spinks officiating.

Continue to pray for Mrs. Bessie Hayden.  She’s home and learning more and more about living independently.

 

 

 

Continue to pray for those who are homebound.  Make a call, deliver a meal, send a card, or just visit them.  You will both be blessed.

 

 

 

David had two medical visits yesterday.

  • He learned his blood level has increased since Tuesday.  The Procrit must be working.
  • He went to a dentist because he was having trouble eating and his gums were sore,  He will begin some new dental work Tuesday.  I think the dental issue is a result of the fall he had outside on Christmas evening.
  • We never know which way this journey will take us, but we know God is with us on the journey.

 

 

 

 

Hazel Elizabeth McKnight

May 14, 1939 – January 03, 2019

Hazel Elizabeth “Beth” McKnight, 79, born in Clinton, LA and a resident of Zachary, went to her eternal home on Thursday, January 3, 2019. She worked for Nunn Electric Supply for 21 years before retiring.
Visitation will be at Zachary United Methodist Church on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am conducted by Dr. Greg Davis, Rev. Harold Babin and Rev. Rickey Willis. Burial will follow in Day’s cemetery, Greensburg.
Beth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Charles McKnight, nieces and nephews, Denise Dyer Stewart(Blake), Rickie McKnight(Kelli), Randy McKnight(Kelli), Todd Castello(Desiree) and Earl Allen (April) and special great nieces, Ashby Warren(Steven) and Aley Stewart.
She is preceded in death by her father, Toler Hurst, Mother, Hazel Hutchinson Hurst and sister, Beverly Hurst Dyer.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hurst, Rick Hurst, Blake Stewart, Rickie McKnight, Randy McKnight and Todd Castello. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Travis, Donald Duncan and Mike Ray. She was a member of United Methodist Women for many years, Emmie Montegeudo Circle and loved greeting all of her church family on Sundays.

The college and career class of First Baptist Church returned from “Passion” in Atlanta.  Thank God they were able to go to the event and grow from the experience.  Also, thank God for their safety.

 

 

 

The items to bring during January for Operation Christmas Child are scarves, hats, and gloves.  You can bring them to my Sunday School classroom.  Thanks!  It’s time to start over for the boxes we will send toward the end of the 2019 year.

Pray for Buddy and Eleanor Morris as he has a scan at Ochsner on Jefferson Hwy.

 

 

 

Pray for Frances Gay as she has knee surgery and goes through the recovery process.

 

 

 

David has battled a cough for a while.  After a very difficult night Monday, he went to the ER at Ochsner on O’Neal yesterday..  A few hours of testing there and and antibiotic medication has changed his world (and mine).  I’m so thankful for his improvement and the rest we were able to get because of his improvement.

 

 

 

Another member of the Dykes family has passed away.  Lila Dykes Watson‘s obituary is not available yet.  I will post it when it becomes available.

 

 

 

 

Carl J. Schuler (My cousin, Scott Tolleson’s, father-in-law)

November 3, 1935 – December 28, 2018

Bossier City, LA – Services for Carl J. Schuler will be 12 noon on Friday, January 4, 2018 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Nick Sorrell.  Interment will follow at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA at 2 p.m. with United States Air Force Honors.  Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 11 a.m. until service time.

Carl was born November 3, 1935 in Emmaus, PA and passed away December 28, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and retired from the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Knight Schuler; sons, Kenneth McCutchen, Jeremy Schuler and grandson, Logan Pace.

Carl is survived by sons, Randall McCutcheon of Portland, OR, Carl Schuler, Jr. of Austin, TX; daughters, Brenda Tolleson of Bossier City, LA, Carla Hobbs of Lancaster, CA; brother, LaMar Schuler of PA; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Honoring Carl as pallbearers will be, Jacob Tolleson, David McCutchen, Micah Tolleson, Jonathan Hobbs, David Tolleson and Jacob Schuler.

Patricia Ann “Pat” McNeil, age 73 of Greensburg, LA, left this world to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018. She was born to Richard Henley Goebel, Sr. and Mary McCaa Cantrell on July 7, 1945. She is preceded in death by her father, Richard; step-father, Alfred “Daddy” Charles Cantrell; mother, Mary; husband, Charles Lewis McNeil; and 2 sons, Stephen Troy McNeil and David Chance McNeil. Pat is survived by her daughter, Charlene Hydock and husband, Kenny; son, Jeremy Scott McNeil; 7 grandchildren, Ken Hydock, Melissa Hydock, Kasey Erbe, Joshua, Abel and Haley McNeil and Acea Sibley; a great grandson, Ryker Hydock; brothers and sisters, Barbara Roberts, Richard Goebel, Robyn Cantrell, Mike Cantrell, and Mark Cantrell. She also leaves behind a multitude of people from around the world that she called family. Serving the Lord and ministering to people in need were Pat’s passion and delight. She spent much of her time counseling and ministering to people all over the world – sharing with them the wonderful love of Christ and providing them guidance and hope. She was an active member of House on the Rock church in Amite, LA where she was known as “Mom” to many in the congregation because of her unconditional love and compassion to the congregation. Visitation will be held at House on the Rock Church, 727 W. Oak St., Amite, LA 70422 from 2:00PM until a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 with a reception following in the fellowship hall for family and close friends. Yvonne “Evie” Rohner passed away peacefully at home in Amite on December 30, 2018. She was loved dearly by her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her calling in life was music. She loved entertaining family and friends by playing her piano or organ. Though she never read a note of music, she could listen to a song and use her natural talent and play it “by ear.” She is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Watkins, Diane Rohner, and Dorinda Rohner; eight grandchildren, Danny Watkins, Timmy Lawrence, Misty Nicolosi, Jason Lawrence, Scarlett Sigrest, Melvin Battles, Mike O’Hara, and Nicole Watkins; twenty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy O’Hara; parents, Bob and Mary Cox; a brother, Wink Cox and sister, Polly Bueche. Update on Bryan Tate:

He’s finished 4 rounds of chemo. Now we start 4 rounds of antibodies that will search and attack any active cancer cells that might have “ got away”. He is in remission ( no active cancer cells) at this time. This will carry us through month 8 of treatments. Not sure what the last four months of treatment will be. But we know it’s a year of active treatment. Then we hope he will be in maintenance. It’s a long journey 2-3 years but blessed with great Doctors and treatments. God has blessed us with the best Dr., team, friends and family. Our Dr. team has commented on our support from home several times. We look towards 2019 with praises and assurances that our Lord will bless us and provide our needs.

 

 

 

Pray for David and me as we travel to Baton Rouge on another holiday for his healthcare.

He was a member of Osyka Baptist Church and a retired dairy farmer and boilermaker. He is survived by his wife, Gloria McNabb Gill; daughter, Becky Lynn Grimes and husband Joseph; son, Tristan Gill; grandson, Aidan James Grimes; brother, Edgar Ray Gill. FBC, Kentwood will have their annual march for the Lottie Moon Christmas.  You can participate if:

  • You are putting in your gift Sunday
  • You a have already given.
  • You plan to give next week.
  • You are not giving, but will support the fund given through your prayers.
