Job and K.K. Huckaby have finished the adoption process and are now the legal parents of Josiah Huckaby. Join with the family in celebrating this big step. Pray for this special couple as they care for their special son God sent to them.

Yesterday was a long day. David had labs in Hammond, a cardiologist appointment in Hammond, OT at home, and saw the liver specialist in Baton Rouge at the new Ochsner! His therapy is progressing because he can now do things like get up from a chair on his own. The cardiologist gave David a good report. The EKG was good and medication was adjusted. The liver specialist gave us more information about cirrhosis, adjusted his medication, and added a new medication. Please keep us in your prayers.

Sunday night at the end of church I shared a prayer request. My request was included in the closing prayer. Within five minutes, I had my request answered. What an awesome God we serve!

Shelton Day got sick Saturday and is now at North Oaks. He apparently got treatment in time and is doing much better. Keep praying for him, his family, and his friends.

We see Debbie Wilkinson often, including Saturday night. This is her Tuesday report about her regular trip to MD Anderson for one of her frequent check-ups.

Well another trip down! My doctors are keeping my treatment the same for now bc my scans were “stable”.. only two tumors had very little increase and no new growth or spreading, THANK you GOD !! Exhausted and got about two hours until we are home! My pilot and copilot are doing good in this weather and traffic … God has a plan for me and He has me in His hands, keeping me and doing something supernatural on the inside I am sure 😊😊. HE IS A GOOD GOOD FATHER !! As always thank you everyone for your continued prayers 😘. Love zsazsa

Bryan Tate will be home for a few more days before leaving for MDA for another 28 days of treatment. Keep prying for Bryan and his family.

Please pray for Shelton Day and his family. I don’t know many details, but Shelton has had a stroke and a heart attack.

Don’t forget to pray for Buddy Waller as he begins another experimental cancer treatment tomorrow, Wednesday.

I have an unspoken request for prayer for another cancer patient who may soon begin an experimental cancer treatment.

Although I didn’t have an opportunity to speak to them, I did see Buddy and Eleanor Morris at church Sunday. Thank you for your continued prayers for their health.

Astoreth “Toffie” Smith

Toffie Smith passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 19, 2019 at Greensburg United Methodist Church with funeral service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Reverend Donald Lum, and assisted by Dr. Kenneth Reed. Interment will be in the Greensburg Cemetery. Born in Jackson, Ms., on January 28, 1929, she was twice retired from the Louisiana Office of Family Services and the St. Helena School Board. She was a loving mother and grandmother who took her greatest pleasure in the happiness, growth and good health of her family. She loved poetry and music and found great joy singing in her church choir. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in law, Lyn and Richard Easley and Liesa and Kirk Gillis, both of Greensburg; four grandchildren and spouses, Richard Clint Easley, Greensburg, Jennifer E. and Bradley Davis, children Matthew and Sarah Beth, The Woodlands, TX; Amber G. Graff and Dr. Eugene Robert Graff, Jr., daughter Molly Astoreth, Hammond; and Cassie Gillis, daughter Marissa Nelli Joy Cisneros, Lakeland, CO; a special sister in law, Elois Smith McNabb, Greensburg; a special brother in law, Harold Ray Smith; and sweet friend and caregiver, Annette “Cookye” Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert C. Smith; her mother, Cassie Isola Venable Ainswoth; her father, A. E. Ainsworth, Sr.; her sister, Loraine Ainsworth Headrick; three brothers, George Beverly Ainsworth, A. E. Ainsworth, Jr. and William Lewis Ainsworth. Special thanks to Dr. J.W. Varnado; the staff of the Varnado Family Clinic; the St. Helena Hospital staff and the Lane Regional Medical Center hospital staff, and Prime Care Home Health providers for their many acts of kindness and love. Marilyn Bond Morgan

August 17, 1931 – February 14, 2019

A light is gone, and heaven is enriched with the passing of Marilyn Bond Morgan. A resident of Montpelier, she passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Walker. She is survived by her 4 children, Bobbie Lynn Morgan, Cindi Morgan Blades and Bill, Thomas Parker Morgan, Sr., Jonathan Sandifer Morgan and Donna; 4 grandchildren, Kim Konzelman Webb and Wil, Cortney Hamilton Burch, Thomas Parker Morgan, Jr. and Brittany, and Brittany Laine Morgan; 8 great-grandchildren, William Baylor Travis and Janna, Emilee Claire Webb, Maggie Catherine Webb, Mia Catherine Clemons, Jaxson Gage Burch, Cooper Thomas Burch, Elly Parker Burch, and Briggs Law Burch; sister, Jewel Bond Washington; and longtime friend Ernest A. Watts, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. “Bobbie” Morgan; parents, Henry and Nannie Brown Bond; grandson, Robert William Clemons, Jr.; brother, William “Bill” Bond; sister, Charlotte Bond Prewitt.

Marilyn was born August 17, 1931 in Montpelier and was 87 years of age. She was a graduate of the Baton Rouge Business College and during her life she was employed with the Welfare Department, as a Dairy Farmer, and with the United States Postal Service in Pine Grove, Greensburg and Hammond. She was a member of Montpelier United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the St. Helena Parish Forestry Association.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved sharing her life’s past times, playing cards, LSU football and was always on the go. She especially enjoy her most recent travels with her first grade classmate and friend of eighty years, Ernest Watts. Marilyn was a faithful servant of her community, church and, Lord. She was known as “MawMaw Marilyn” to many, and will be truly missed.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will resume on Monday at Montpelier United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Interment Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier. Today is the day Jennie planned to come for a visit. After David’s last hospitalization, she came earlier. She has been so helpful doing the three things I requested and much more. She will be here until the 28th. Join me in thanking God and her family for sharing her with us. Today, she will drive him to Baton Rouge for an injection and I will stay here to do something else. Pray all goes according to plans.

September 30, 1926 – February 12, 2019

Doris Helen Courtney Parish, 92, a resident of Greensburg and former resident of Jackson, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Mandeville. She was retired from East Louisiana State Hospital with 27 plus years of service. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Second Baptist Church in Jackson, LA from 10:00 am until service time at 12noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Doris is survived by her children, Linda Whittington Smith(Ray), Jim Partin(Melissa), Fae Lee, John Parish(Terry), Claude Parish(Pam), Homer Parish(Glenda), Phyllis Parish Bryant(John), Mary Anne Parish Newman, 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Courtney, sons and daughter in law, Jerry and Thelma Whittington, Paul Partin and Billy Aucoin, 4 brothers and 1 sister. She was a 1943 graduate of McKowen High School.
Pallbearers will be Brantley Newman, Matthew Bryant, Keaton Ellis, TJ Hartley, Adam Parish and Alex Parish. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research in Memphis, TN.

Please pray for Cora Morris of Amite. She has had one problem after another. The broken ankle has taken her from home to PAM Specialty with the next stop being Landmark.

So, it’s with a very heavy, heavy, heart that I tell you that my Mom, Cora Morris, is in PAM Specialty Hospital of Hammond for 3-5 days before being transported to Landmark Skilled Nursing Facility where she will stay until she has fully recuperated from breaking her ankle! Prayers are certainly appreciated but, most of all, she needs visits and phone calls from her friends and family while she’s away from home so she doesn’t feel alone or forgotten!! Cheryl Hart Pierre, a resident of Loranger, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Hammond Nursing Home in Hammond. She was born July 10, 1947 in Independence and was 71 years of age. She is survived by 2 daughters, Michelle Carrier and husband, Ronnie, and Kris Pierre; grandchildren, Jordan Carrier and fiance’, MaKayla Norred; great-grandson, Ruston Carrier; sisters, Patti Tyler and husband, Tim, Fay Raborn and husband, Bobby, Jo Ann Karst and husband, Dr. Charles Karst, and Carol Hart; brother, Herbert Hart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
