Friday – Snow Day!

I’ve been trying to write this since 11:30 last night, but the weather didn’t cooperate.

I think this is a good verse to practice more and more each year:

“The King will reply,

‘Truly I tell you,

whatever you did for one of the least

of these brothers and sisters of mine,

you did for me.’

~Matthew 25:40~

Last night, I was going to tell you we were not going to have Bible study this morning.  I think when you took one look of the white environment we all live in today, you were able to make that decision for yourself.

Thursday Second Addition

Bettye Fussell

I also learned that Mrs. Evelyn Bridges passed away this morning.  She has been at the Greensburg Nursing Home for a few months.

Two deaths in one church family in one morning.  Two more sweet Kentwood ladies now in heaven and healed of their health issues.  What a sweet thought!

Ora Lee Wilson will be in charge of food for the services for both families.  Please call her and volunteer to prepare something for each family.

Thursday Addition

As hard as it is to post this, I can rejoice knowing Bettye is healed in heaven where there is no sickness or death.  Her friends and family can see her again one day if they choose to follow her to heaven.

Richard Navarra, 58, of Maurepas, passed away on December 4, 2014, as a result of liver cancer. His family and close friends were by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord. Richard was born on June 6, 1956, to Dominick and Margaret Navarra of Amite. He married the love of his life, Lou Cook, on July 3, 1981. Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He took great pride and joy in his family and had an enormous love for people. He never met a stranger and if he was your friend, he was your friend for life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, making his famous beef jerky, and hanging out at Hi-Ho in the mornings with a great group of friends before work. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Margaret Navarra and sister, Ramona Navarra. Tuesday

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

and comes down from the Father of lights,

with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

~James 1:17 NKJV~

Here is a prayer request I’ve been waiting to be able to share.  Rusty Benoit will be having open-heart surgery tomorrow, Wednesday, at Ochsner.  Please pray for Jana, Reece, Jack, and other family members as you pray for Rusty.

We know that, unfortunately, the holiday season leads to an increase of  criminal activity.  A friend from Montpelier Baptist Church said someone took the petty cash ($54.00) and all the church’s historical records Sunday night.  Let’s pray the records are found and returned and that people will not choose to steal and commit other crimes but learn about loving God and others.  Montpelier had the solution to the needs of the person(s), but it isn’t petty cash and church historical records.  It’s Jesus!

I spent some time assessing the results of the Lottie Moon Tea we had Sunday afternoon.  We had almost 120 people in attendance representing at least 13 churches and almost 1700 stamped Christmas cards turned in which will be delivered to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail this week.  I don’t have a count of the cards for the St. Helena Parish Jail, but some cards will be sent there by the St. Helena Parish churches.  We have a good many Bibles which will be distributed at the jail too, but I don’t have all of them here to count.  We also had many, many people who learned about loving people and doing missions.  Thank you to all who attended and/or supported the tea and projects in any way!

Read the Bible – Hebrews 11-13 and Psalm 30

No matter what is on your agenda today, I hope you remember that the celebration of the birth of Jesus is the true reason for this annual holiday season.

Monday

Let us acknowledge the LORD;

let us press on to acknowledge him.

As surely as the sun rises, he will appear;

he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

~Hosea 6:3~

Thank you, Lord, for giving us a great opportunity yesterday to share our love for You, missions, and each other!  May seeds have been planted in hearts that will impact the world for Jesus!

Ora Lee Wilson was thrilled yesterday to share that her son-in-law, Rob Anderson, is finally getting better.  Thank God for the good report and future prospect of Rob living a healthy life again.

Week of Prayer for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Day 2 – https://www.imb.org/day-2/
