Pray for Adrian Phillips. He has been scheduled for more heart procedures today. Let’s pray the doctors are able to achieve their goals.

David and I left before 6:30 yesterday morning and got home this morning at 3:30. We did not get to have all the scheduled appointments because the lab test showed a blood level of 6.7. David was sent to the ER for two units of blood. It was given slowly and took 15 hours. It’s good to be home. David’s appointment with the new doctor has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

David and I are in agreement that as long and hard as the day was for us, we were right were God wanted us to be and He was right there with us!

Xavier Chance Ory

May 8, 2019 – May 17, 2019

Xavier Chance Ory was born on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 and received his precious angel wings on Friday, May 17, 2019. Even though he was only held for a moment, he will be cherished for a lifetime. Xavier’s family will always remember the short time they had together, for now, he is their guardian angel.

He leaves behind his loving mom and dad, Blake and Lily Ory, maternal grandparents, Suzanne and Clifford Edwards; paternal grandparents, Ronda and Bo Douget, and Mark and Anna Peters; Aunts, Candace Day, Erin Burns, Lalia Edwards, and Felicia Sonnie; Uncles, Chris Edwards, Donnie Edwards, Michael Edwards, Dwight Douget, Ashton Douget, Will Douget, Colten Peters, and Ethan Peters; as well as numerous cousins.

Xavier is preceded in death by his uncle, Chandler Douget.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Monday, May 20, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the Service at 1:00 p.m.

April 24, 1937 – May 18, 2019

A resident of Amite passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 24, 1937 in Carthage, TX and was 82 years of age. She is survived by 6 children, Mark Hawkins and wife, Sandra, Susan Miller, Davey Hawkins and wife, Rashael, Elizabeth Hawkins, Stacey Slay and husband, Shane, and Tracey McKenna and husband, Duane; 12 grandchildren, Anthony Hawkins and wife, Katelynn, Jordan Hawkins, Sarah and Hannah Miller, Brittany Foley and husband, Michael, Nicholas and Lea Ann Hawkins, Dale and Vivian Slay, Mason, Mitchell, and Mattie McKenna; great-granddaughter, Ava Lynn Hawkins; brother, Robert Earl Mason. Today, I would like to add James Morgan to our prayer list. He has a new stent in his heart that seems to be able to help him not to have majaor heart surgery. Pray for him and his family.

I would also like to remind you of all the high school and college graduates who will be facing many choices about their future. Let’s pray they made good choices that will be beneficial to their future.

Schools are ending for 2018-2019. That means lots of energetic and fast moving boys and girls are riding bikes and playing ball each day. Pay special attention when you drive!

Carol Bennett Sealey grew up in Roseland where she still has many friends and relatives. Her sister, Barbara Bennett Gaines, shared this yesterday.

Asking everyone to please put my sister Carol Bennett Sealey on their prayer list. She found out almost a month ago, after a colonoscopy that she has colon cancer. After lots of doctor’s appts., blood work, and scans, they believe it is contained to that one polyp. She will be having surgery Tuesday morning. Please remember to lift her up that all will go well with good results. She is a trooper for sure, she has had more than her share of surgeries and keeps right on going. You can never have too many prayers. Thanking you in advance!! Love my sister, I mean my older sister!!! LOL Carol still Love you!!!

Dolly Frazier had her second successful cataract surgery this week. Thank God for Dolly’s successful surgeries and improved vision.

Mr. “Cete” Dillon will be going to Hammond today to receive additional blood. Please keep him in your prayers.

George Eddie Lee came to visit David yesterday. We immediately noticed his left knee was bandaged. He burned his knee in a tractor mishap. Pray for complete healing of the knee with no complications.

Rev. John Fulda has had some heart issues that now seem to be correctable due to a new procedure that is available. He is well known and loved because of his many years of teaching chorus in Amite and of preaching in the Church of Christ in the Amite area. Pray the new procedure will be available and successful.

Joseph “Joe” Hugh DeBlanc

June 20, 1946 – May 15, 2019

Joseph “Joe” Hugh DeBlanc, 72, a resident of Osyka, MS, passed away May 15, 2019 at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2019 from 9AM until services at 11AM at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Laverne Summerlin, Rev. James Sanders, and Rev. Wade Burgess will officiate.

Mr. DeBlanc was born June 20, 1946 to the late Elliott R. and Geneva McElveen DeBlanc. He was a retired dairy farmer along with being a member and deacon of Terry’s Creek Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George DeBlanc and David DeBlanc; and two sisters, Deloris Bethel and Annette DeBlanc.

He is survived by his wife; Patricia DeBlanc of Osyka, MS; one son, Jody DeBlanc (Laura) of Osyka, MS; one daughter, Amy DeBlanc Burgess (Wade) of Sugar Land, TX; two brothers, Robert DeBlanc (Susie) and Roy DeBlanc; one sister, Genevieve Johnson (Billy); four grandchildren, Alex Burgess, Ashlyn, Aaron, and Allye DeBlanc; a mother-in-law, Lois G. Bridges; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Danny Spencer, Bud Spencer, Doug Easley, Steve Travis, Billy Lee, Travis Easley and Glenn Sanders.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John M. Bond, Allen McDaniel, Dennis Lea, and Christopher Myers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Terry’s Creek Baptist Church.

Hobert W. Smith, Jr.

August 06, 1933 – May 12, 2019

Hobert passed away at his residence in Hillsdale, Louisiana on May 13, 2019 at the age of 85. He was born and raised in St Helena Parish. In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart Mae Jean. Shortly after their marriage he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas where he was a private in the US Army. Being honorable discharge, the two of them moved back to Hillsdale to start their family. He was blessed with three children . He was a dairyman for many years then ultimately pursuing his love for construction, he joined Carpenters Local 1098 out of Baton Rouge. He worked out of the carpenters union for 42 years of which time he worked on the Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge, the new State Capital and many other Louisiana landmarks. His greatest accomplishment was the way he raised his family. He instilled in each of them his love for Jesus Christ and his love for them. He taught each of them to be strong independent people and to always remember that God came first then family. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mae Jean Smith . Three children daughter Reba Jean Lee (Sammie), son Hobert “Billy” W. Smith III, and daughter Velvet Lopinto (Joe). Eight grandchildren Kindle Sevin (Garrett), Roman Kyle Lee (Jennifer), Cassie Ly Smith, Smitty Smith (Maggie), Addie Holley (John), Crystal Alexander (JR), Michael Davis (Rachel), and Cara Lyn Reno (Dustin). Twelve great-grandchildren Bryce Sevin, Braxton Lee, Hudson Smith, Abner Holley, Evan Alexander, Colby Davis, Aubree Davis, Emmet Reno , River Reno, Morgan Toups (Jeff), Dustin Sevin (Jayme), and Renae Rebstock (Colby). He is preceeded in death by his parents Hobert W. Smith , Sr. and Lula Bell Bennett Smith, brother Thomas Eugene Smith, and grandson Shane Lee. Visitation will be Thursday May 16, 2019 at Cornerstone Church in Amite, Louisiana from 9am-Noon with funeral at Noon followed by internment at Killian Chapel Cemetary. Reba, Billy, and Velvet would like to especially thank each grandchild for all the numerous visits and constant care given to “Paw Paw Hobert” over the last few months we could of never done it without you. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to New Century Hospice, Janet Becnel , Dr. Rab, and the whole community of friends for all the prayers , thoughts and visits. Wednesday

Yesterday, I expressed my uncertainty about some things in the future. I understand prayer and how God answers our prayers, but my question seemed to take God out of the plan. Someone who was here said I should pray about it. This seemed like an easy and obvious answer. This is the verse that showed up today. She surely was right!

“If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you . . .

But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you.”

Adrian Phillips‘ angiogram left some unanswered questions so more testing was scheduled for last night. This afternoon, the doctor will tell the results and his decision. Surgery may even happen. Pray for answers for the doctor so he will make the best decision. Pray for Adrian and his family as they face a day of medical uncertainty.

I learned yesterday that Mr. Ed and “Miss” Jeanette Maghee‘s house burned and they are building a smaller home in the back. Pray for this couple and their family as they make big decisions and changes to their “normal” life.

Susie Sharkey’s knee surgery went well yesterday. Now, on to rehab. Additional prayers will be appreciated.

Adrian Phillips‘ angiogram is this morning at Baton Rouge General. He is ready to do whatever it takes to feel better. Please pray for him.

I injured both of my knees yesterday. Previously, I injured both thumbs that are still bothering me. Pray they get better soon. I need to be healthy!
