Please pray for Kathy Wall Stafford who recently learned she has a tumor above her kidney. Pray for Kathy and Mark as they determine the next step for them.
Pray for Bobby Forbes as he, hopefully, will be released from North Oaks following a serious infection.
Linda and Jim LeBlanc are now back at home in Tangipahoa. They will need some rest as they recover from the trip. Prayers will be appreciated.
David said to ask for prayers for the elderly. I want to include myself in that group today, but hopefully not permanently. Please pray for the elderly by name and as a category.
If you travel early in the mornings or mid-afternoon, watch for school children.
OCC – David has been busy making purchases for our next packing day. One friend helped to pay for them last week. Another friend will be helping to pay for the purchases this month. We are very thankful for you. Little children who receive our “Shoeboxes” are also blessed and thankful.
It certainly is good to talk to TPL readers. Always remember you and your prayers are why TPL is published.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Linda LeBlanc is doing well at Mayo Hospital following heart surgery. She should be able to come home soon. Her family has had quite an experience.
Others, who have previously been listed, seem to be doing about the same.
Pray for the local students to make good adjustments to new subjects and teachers this school year. Two young ladies from our church, Hope Brister and Delanie Dean, are beginning of their teacher careers. Pray for them as they touch the lives of their students and as they learn so much.
READ AND WRITE GOD’S WORD
August 14 – John 15: 1-4
Enjoy hearing the messages from God delivered by our pastors this morning and this evening in person or online.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Today, if you get out and shop some, please consider helping out with “Shoeboxes” by purchasing dolls at Dollar Tree, and/or crayons and jump ropes at Walmart. You can leave your purchases in the hallway beneath the sanctuary or we can make a vehicle to vehicle transfer at church on a Sunday or Wednesday. These are our most needed items at this time. Our next workday will be the first Saturday of September.
Today, let’s pray for our city, state, and country. Ask God to guide our leaders to making us a nation that looks to God as we did when we first became a nation.
Make necessary preparations to be prepared for church attendance tomorrow. If you have someone in your class who is not able to attend now, get some literature to them. Your class member will be most appreciative.
The crayons at Walmart in Hammond are still $.35 and the jump ropes are $.50 even though the price on the shelf does not indicate that markdown. Dollar Tree has stuffed animals for $1.25 compared to higher prices at some other stores. David bought a good many, but more of these items are still needed for our last packing packing day (older children, 11-14).
Please pray for the sick in out church and community. You can pray using the names I have listed and/or the names in your personal prayer journal.
Debi Bales is home with her pacemaker installed. Pray for her as she heals from surgery.
Katie Rimes Verneuilhad thyroid surgery yesterday. All went well. Pray for her as she recovers.

FALL FOOD ROUND-UP for the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home
A truck will be at FBC, Kentwood on September 19 to collect the food for the children. Cash can also be given through the church office. Below is a list of ten most needed items for this year.
Aluminum foil
Bathroom tissue
Cleaners (household)
Clorox
Cooking oil
Cornmeal
Crackers
Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Paper towels and napkins
These items can be dropped off at the church any time in the coming month.
The Georgia Barnette Offering for Louisiana can also be turned in during the next couple months. The Week of Prayer will be September 11-18. Georgia Barnette includes many ministries, including Disaster Relief.
The next Operation Christmas Child workshop will be Saturday, September 3rd. We had two new helpers last week. Both of them said they would be back to help next month. On September 3rd, we will be packing 150 shoeboxes. We have already been making a list of needed items for the next packing.
While shopping for OCC yesterday, David had several people to question him about his multiple doll, soap, and calculator purchases. After explaining about the boys and girls who will receive the shoeboxes in the coming year, a clerk gave him a $10.00 donation! A church member gave a donation Sunday night. Thank-you for helping us purchase items we need.
Please add Debi and Katie to your prayer list is they are not already there.
Donald “Brudda” Phillip McDaniel, 65, of Kentwood, LA, passed away August 5, 2022. He was born on August 22, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, to E.P. and Kitty Sue Forbes McDaniel. Brudda was a typical military “brat” living in multiple places. He spent several years in Hixson, TN, where he enjoyed being part of the wrestling and pole-vaulting teams. He graduated from Valley Forge Academy in Kentwood, LA where he played football and baseball.
Brudda leaves behind a son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, Rachael, grandchildren, Jacob, Caleigh, Levi, and Asher all of Fort Worth, TX, siblings, Katera McMillan of Kentwood, LA, Susan Thornton of Tontitown, AR, and Nathan “Flip” McDaniel of Madison, AL, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents E.P. and Kitty Sue McDaniel, grandparents Edward and Della McDaniel, Sr., Lexie Pierce, all of Kentwood, LA, and William “Pet” Forbes of Darbun, MS.
Brudda spent most of his adult life as a boilermaker out of Baton Rouge, LA. He was an active member of the Sons of the Confederacy, with local membership at Camp Moore. Brudda enjoyed taking his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews on a “walk-a-bout” on his home place, telling stories and wild tales. This always included each child having their own walking stick. Brudda was a kid at heart and loved spoiling the kids with a trip to the candy store. He also loved to talk about his family history and of times gone by.
