Scripture for Today
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. …

Donald Foster Gay, Jr.
Devoted Father, Adored Son, beloved Brother, and Loving Husband Donald “Donnie” Gay, Jr. gained his heavenly wings Sunday evening on August 16, 2026 at home surrounded by close family and friends in Amite, LA. He was born November 10, 1946 in Long Beach, CA and was 79 years old.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon “Kay” Gay; 2 children, Toni Michelle Gay Rager and husband, Jason Matthew Rager, Scott Adam Gay and wife, Layla Sullivan Gay; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Maryn Gay, Korbin Scott Gay; brothers, Robert Lynn Gay and wife Darlene, Todd Gay (Michigan); sisters, Kathryn Ann Cavaretta and husband Roy Michael and Linda Jo Constantino; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia “Jennie” Ardillo Constantino and Donald Foster Gay Sr.
Donnie will always be remembered as a hardworking man with a gift for connecting with people. He used his talents and built a career in the automobile industry. To him, selling cars was never simply about making a sale; it was about people. He had a natural ability to strike up a conversation and make a stranger feel like an old friend, which earned the trust of generations of customers. While Donnie was a reliable, hardworking man, he also enjoyed filling his spare time playing golf, maintaining his yard and swimming pool, watching his grandkids play sports, and relaxing in his treasured recliner watching sports (in his flannel pajama pants, of course). He left some very big shoes to fill, and a very big hole in all our hearts and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9:00 am until religious services at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2026. Services conducted by Brother Luke Lindsey of First Baptist Church of Arcola. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite, LA.

Isaiah 58:10-11, English Standard Version
10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness
and your gloom be as the noonday.
11 And the Lord will guide you continually
and satisfy your desire in scorched places
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters do not fail.
