And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
~Hebrews 11:6~
What a big news week it was for us, yet somehow I managed not to include Baptist Press. Here are a few highlights, but there are more.
*The meetings drew 8,133 messengers, according to SBC Registration Secretary Don Currence. There were 2,856 registered guests and 1,554 registered exhibitors leading to a total attendance of 12,543.
*Missionaries tell their stories
A total of 52 International Mission Board missionaries stood on stage – several with identities hidden due to their location assignment – before messengers at IMB’s June 14 Sending Celebration. They shared their backgrounds as well as their calling to go to the nations.
“Today, amid sin and darkness, devastation and pain, many are focused on the worst of our Convention, we get to be reminded of why we, as believers … as Southern Baptists, exist,” IMB President Paul Chitwood said.
IMB trustees approved of the missionaries’ appointments at the board’s meeting in Orlando May 18-19.
David and I watched as a local couple, Bobby and Brittany Spinks, home church Montpelier Baptist, were appointed as missionaries to Hungary.
Look back on Baptist Press for more highlights.

Billie Jean Phelps Booty
September 13, 1945 – June 14, 2022

Billie Jean Phelps Booty was born September 13,1945 in Magnolia, MS to Ruthie Temple Phelps and Willie James. She was a phenomenal mother and a lifelong friend to everyone she knew. She never met a stranger and was first in line to help anyone in need, be it a friend or stranger. She always had a smile on her face and could quickly put a smile on the faces of others. Those that had the privilege to meet her were in the presence of a true angel on Earth. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by daughter Melanie Ruth Booty, son Daron Glen Booty-Arellano (Carlos), daughter Brandi LeJean Booty Hartman (Jonathan), granddaughter Kamil Rene Thomas, and grandson Jaron Booty. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen A. Booty, sister Rubie Lee Phelps Zeigler (Edward), brother James Henry Phelps (Fay), mother and father-in law, Annie Mae Lambert Booty and Robert Booty. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.
