Carl Eugene Cutrer of Kentwood, Louisiana | 1931 – 2022
Carl Eugene Cutrer, age 90, died peacefully March 27, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be Thursday March 31, 2022 from 10 AM until services at 12:30 PM at Greenlaw Baptist Church in Kentwood, LA. Bro. E.J. Didon, Bro. Mike Stafford and Bro. Jack Whitehead will officiate and burial will be in Bluff Springs cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on May 14, 1931, in the East Fork, LA community.
Carl proudly served his country as a Corporal in the US Army while stationed in Japan. Carl was an ordained Deacon and a current member of Greenlaw Baptist Church, as well as a Deacon and past member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church. He was the Owner/Operator of 3 “Big Rigs” He also worked for NCI Trucking as a dispatcher and retired after 33 years.
There was nothing Carl liked better than a good conversation with and old friend (or a new one). He especially enjoyed talking about trucks and trips he’d been on, he had an endless supply of great stories (and jokes). Carl enjoyed raising a garden, mowing his grass, camping, the mountains, and good food! And he loved serving The Lord! Carl was always there to brighten the lives of others and is already missed deeply by family, friends and the community.
Carl is now reunited with his parents Sue Pritchard Cutrer and Floyd (Newt) Cutrer, brothers Gordon and W.G. Cutrer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Geneiveve (Jenny) O’Quin Cutrer, a son Randy Cutrer (Eileen), grandchildren Randall Cutrer, Brandon Cutrer (Brittany) great-grandchildren Blake and Maverick Cutrer, Brielle Cutrer. Extended Family, Granddaughter Susan Daley (Michael) great-grandchildren Michala, Conner, Maranda Daley. Friend, Neighbor, Son by choice Bobby Dykes. Nephew Bill Simmons. Sisters Carol Ann Cleveland, Shirley Newcomb. Brother Richard Cutrer. Along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hughes, “June Bug” Gill, Matthew Simeon, Michael Daley, Heath Chamblis and Ted Dykes.
Special thanks to Modern Hospice for their support and kindness over these weeks. The family would also like to thank those of you that took time out of your schedule for regular visits of love, prayers, and encouragement, it was greatly appreciated!
I never made the connection between Mr. Carl and his sister, Carol Ann, one of my favorite classmates.

A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at his home in Kentwood, LA. He was born May 4, 1938 in New Orleans, LA and was 83 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Dillon Gunther; 3 sons, Harold Gunther, Jr. And wife Patti, Christian A. Gunther, and Karl D. Gunther; 1 brother, John Gunther and wife, Cay. Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard R. Gunther and Audrey B. Gunther; 3 brothers, Bernard R. Gunther, Donald Gunther, and Gerard Gunther. SEND RELIEF
Please continue to pray for all the volunteers working with the refugees from Ukraine. Pray for the refugees as they have left their life as they have known it and their country at war. Pray for those who remain in the Ukraine and struggle daily to stay warm and to get adequate food and water. Pray for their safety.
