LORD, you establish peace for us;

all that we have accomplished you have done for us.

Pray for Gloria Gill.  Her doctors have decided it is time to do a second ablation.  This will be in about three weeks.  Pray for Gloria and her family as they go through this process.  Pray she is soon out of A-fib.

Mr. Red Pittman is home.  Let’s continue to keep him in our prayers.

Baptist Friendship House & Kay Bennett (New Orleans)

Hey Friends: just wanted to let everyone know that things are going well at BFH. We ran into a few complications with our gym floor, but we are well on our way to getting things back going soon. A few prayer requests:
1. Our summer missionaries arrive towards the end of this month. We are so excited for them to get here to serve. Pray for safe travels for each and for a summer filled with growth and service.
2. Pray for our ladies attending Bible Study each week and our leader. Our ladies have stayed committed to attending even though our time has been outside each week.
3. Pray for the final aspects of the renovation to go smoothly so we can get back to full operations. It has been a pretty hectic time but we are so excited about the face-lift the building is getting. We can’t wait to share pictures with you all soon.

April 2018
Volume 15 Number 4

The Calls Keep Coming
In April, we worked with 6 individuals who were either confirmed victims of sex trafficking or potential victims. All 6 of these women are survivors. 3 of the young women are still teenagers and they all had similar stories- grew up in foster care or in an abusive home, never felt wanted or loved, no one advocating for her, and then came “prince charming” to give her everything she ever desired- a stable home, love, and attention. None of the girls we worked with this month woke up and decided “I want to be a prostitute.” Each was lured by a predator away from her home and comfort zone only to be tricked into a life of greater pain and suffering. We are thankful each of these girls now has a second chance. Through your prayers, donations of backpacks and supplies, and financial contributions, we were able to provide transportation and support to 4 of the young women we encountered this past month. Continue to pray for the other two women who chose not to receive services at this time. Our hope is that one day soon we will receive a call from them.
Prayer Requests
  • Pray for the completion of the renovations on our building so that we can resume full time ministry to those in our community.
  • Pray for the two women who opted not to receive services from BFH as they are potential victims of human trafficking.
  • Pray for our summer missionaries who will arrive in May to serve.
Each April we host a Health Fair for our community. We provide an array of services from basic health screenings to foot care and hair care. We also have various give-aways and serve a meal. We would like to extend a sincere thanks to the 59 volunteers from multiple states who made this event possible.
Current Needs
  • Snack Pack Items (vienna sausage, protein bars, crackers, pudding, fruit cups, etc)
  • Bug Spray and Sunscreen
  • Women’s medium athletic pants/sweat pants
  • Gift Cards (Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.)
  • Kay’s mom has been released from the doctor to resume all her normal activities. Her swift healing is nothing short of a miracle.
  • E and her family welcomed a healthy, baby boy into their family this month and everyone is adjusting well
  • We have had a steady number of ladies coming for Bible Study this month even though we had to move it outside until renovations are completed

You may want to follow them on Facebook.

Kay is speaking at an associational WMU meeting soon.
