February 23, 1951 – January 26, 2018
A resident of Pine Grove passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1951 in Bogalusa and was 66 years of age. He retired as the owner of St. Gabriel Valve. He is survived by 2 daughters, Angela Forbes and Melissa Forbes Hughes; mother of his daughters, Sandra Spears Forbes; sister, Paulette Forbes Spears; nieces and nephews, Davin Bates, Craig Bates, Kirk Spears, Lyndy Varnado, and Kerry Spears. Preceded in death by father, Frank Forbes; mother, Opal Seals Forbes; sister, Barbara Forbes Bates. Alyne Yarborough Campbell

March 19, 1935 – January 25, 2018
A resident of Greensburg passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018. She was born March 19, 1935 in Liverpool, LA  and was 82 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kirby Campbell; 2 sons and daughters in law, Scott and Cindy Campbell, Central, LA, and David and Danette Campbell, Greensburg, LA;  5 grandchildren, Eric Campbell and wife, Stephanie, Adam Campbell and wife, Angela, Chase Campbell and wife, Reagon, Maggie Campbell, Cade Campbell and her 3 great grandchildren, Addy Campbell, Wade Campbell and Brody Campbell. Preceded in death by her parents, H.O. and Gussie Yarborough; 3 brothers, Elbert Yarborough, Aubrey Yarborough, and H.O. Yarborough Jr.; and 2 sisters, Hilda Yarborough Hanks, and Doris Yarborough Venable. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, Greensburg, LA, from 9 AM until religious services at 11 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018. Interment in Greensburg Cemetery, Greensburg, LA. James Edward Gurry

August 27, 1946 – January 26, 2018

A resident of Amite passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. He was born August 27, 1946 in New Orleans and was 71 years of age. He retired from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and Louisiana Department of Agriculture after 30 years of service. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University and later received an Associates Degree from Delgado in Civil Engineering. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. He had a great work ethic that carried on to his daughter and taught her to be an independent woman. He was a collector of many things and a breeder and exhibitor of English Bulldogs for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Families of Mississippi, First Families of Texas, First Families of Florida Parishes, Sons of the Confederacy, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Swedish Society. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that was devoted to his wife and family and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheryl Freeman Gurry; daughter, Mikele Simoneaux and husband, Rob; grandchildren, Nathan R. Simoneaux and Megan S. Simoneaux; 2 sisters, Jane Buckman and husband, Jay, and Tammy Chutz and husband, Gerald. Preceded in death by parents, Edward Phillip Gurry and Lula Mae Bankston Gurry; brother, Jack E. Gurry. Friday Morning Bible Study – If you want a study guide for the remainder of Ezekiel, let me know.  This was the most I have ever taught from Ezekiel.  It has been a good experience.  I’m glad we didn’t shy away from Ezekiel.
