Operation Christmas Child

One night in Poland, shoeboxes were distributed to about 50 children in a community center after singing Christmas carols and reciting poems. The room erupted in celebration as the shoeboxes were opened. One young girl, Veronica, opened her shoebox and quickly put the lid back on. Then, with wide eyes, she opened it again and pulled out a T-shirt, a scarf, gloves, socks, candy, a brush and a pencil case. She held each item high in the air calling to her friends to look at her gifts. At the end of the night, one of the mothers said, “The shoebox is just one drop in the bucket, but without it we would have missed out on all this joy.” Another mother added, “Yes – and every drop creates ripples.”

Remember the reason for this holiday.  It is not about swimming, eating, camping, playing ball, barbecuing, etc.  It is a day to remember and honor those who died protecting our country.  We wouldn’t have the freedoms we cherish without them.

Saturday's Second Addition

Jan Yarborough called with an update on her brother-in-law, Don McDaniel.  He has now had four stents put in his heart , but the two done several years ago are blocked.  Don will be able to go home from Ochsner, Baton Rouge, in a few days with the understanding he will see his doctor in two weeks to make a decision about the two blockages,  Don’s kidneys are not functioning normally, but that will be addressed after the heart issues are handled.  He had a good night last night.  Thank-you for your prayers.  Please continue to pray for Don and his family.

Saturday
