I don’t know about you, but every time I read a passage, no matter how familiar it is, I always pick up on something I didn’t remember from previous studying.

Reading the last portion, I see a warning against discouragement. I think that is a reminder to all of us to not let discouragement stop our efforts in doing God’s work. Refocus on what is God’s will in your life. That can apply to all of us at one time or another.
Prayer Focus
Today, let’s pray for all those battling sinus issues, colds, flu, pneumonia, etc.
We certainly have had the weather that brings on these health concerns. Let’s focus our prayers on families where these problems have lingered as they travel from one family member to another and the family members who do not have much resistance.

We all know people that fall into this group. Let’s pray for them by name if we can. Pray for others as a group if you don’t know who to name.

Annie Armstrong
You are invited to the fellowship hall of FBC, Kentwood today to learn about Annie Armstrong and to work on items as past of a mission project. We will begin at 3:30.
Associational WMU Meeting
I was informed yesterday of a change in the program for Saturday’s meeting. Bro. Rusty will not be telling about his missionary experiences as pastor at Montpelier. Instead, a lady who has been on EVERY missionary trip Montpelier made will be the speaker. She is Lindy Gill. Come here her speak about her missionary experiences Saturday morning at Montpelier Baptist Church (10:00 A.M.). All ladies and girls are encouraged to attend.
Let’s pray for people to attend Sunday School. (Alford Ruling: Getting there early allows you to settle in with your Bible and other books, get settled for class and to spend some time visiting with your classmates and those you meet as you walk from your vehicle to your classroom, to review your lesson, to hang a map, etc.)
Let’s pray for our heart to be prepared for worship. Many people find that getting settled and praying silently help them get ready for worship. Other people use the time to meet and greet (meet those they don’t already know and to greet those they do know).
Pray for your pastor and other leaders.
Participate in the worship service by focusing on everything and participating to the best of your ability.
Reading the Scripture from your Bible as the pastor reads it aloud.
Some people like to take notes to remember better and to have a hard copy to refer to later. (I have been doing that for 50+ years!)
During the invitation, pray. Pray for people to step-out as their heart leads them to do so. Pray for others as they pray about needs you are not aware of and don’t need to be aware of.
If decisions are made and the pastor asks people to stand at the front of the church so members can come us and speak to them, do just that. Take the time to speak to, meet, and encourage others.
Pray at some time later that day for people who attended to be reminded of the service all during the week.
Thank God for the opportunity to be in a class and the worship service. Act on the message as it touched your heart.

Thankfulness
I’m thankful the COLD temperatures are gone for now.
Welcome t0 another cold morning. It is much colder than we are accustomed to regularly and what we appreciate here in southeast Louisiana. After this morning, we will begin to get warmer temperatures again. Most of us are thankful we live in an area where these cold temperature don’t happen frequently.
Prayer Focus
Let’s thank God we don’t get these low temperatures often. Let’s also thank Him for pipes that have not broken and heating in our homes that keeps us warm.
Today, with a temperature of 25 degrees, I will again ask you to pray for those who have trouble keeping their homes and families warm on such days. If you have a neighbor who has a home such as that, please do what you can to help them stay warm. Pray for them to stay healthy despite the very cold temperatures.

THANKS to those who have helped us by giving money as part of a class or giving as a family. It all goes to the same goal of filling and sending 450 shoeboxes for boys 10-14 years old this fall. Then, we will be moving on to pencil bags.
Donations can be left in the green tote in the hallway in the basement. We appreciate your interest in helping.
Have a great week.
Thank-you for including TPL as part of your busy Monday.
Today, let’s focus on honoring God today by church attendance and service.
