Monday Addition

Sherry Day told me yesterday that she continues to get good MIR test results.  It the next MRI on her brain comes out well, she will begin to see the doctor every six months rather than even three months.  Begin praying for more good results.  Thanks for praying.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.

I bring you good news

that will cause great joy for all the people.

Today in the town of David

a Savior has been born to you;

he is the Messiah, the Lord.

This will be a sign to you:

You will find a baby wrapped in cloths

and lying in a manger.”

We saw Kent Muse at the funeral home.  He continues to do very well following his liver transplant.  Continue to pray for him.

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”                          ~ Luke 2:28-32 (NIV) ~

Jesus’ Birthday

While they were there,

the time came for the baby to be born,

and she gave birth to her firstborn,

a son.

She wrapped him in cloths

and placed him in a manger,

because there was no guest room available for them.

~Luke 2:6-7~

The Christmas Eve service at FBC, Kentwood was wonderful – beautiful decorations, inspiring Scriptures, Lord’s Supper, Christmas carols, many candles, children singing, plenty of Christmas hugs,  full house, and a “sweet, sweet spirit”!  Happy birthday, Jesus!

I know churches will be full today.  Find your place in your church or another church to honor Jesus on His birthday!

Read some of the Scriptures that tell about Jesus’ birth as a family today.

Scripture Writing – Luke 2: 17-20

17 After the shepherds had seen him, they told everyone. They reported what the angel had said about this child. 18 All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary kept all these things like a secret treasure in her heart. She thought about them over and over. 20 The shepherds returned. They gave glory and praise to God. Everything they had seen and heard was just as they had been told.

the most important thing in life —

they don’t know God.”

“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Waylon Bailey shared yesterday

         WaylonBailey.com (Yesterday’s post)

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.                                                 ~ Luke 2:16-20 (NIV) ~

“Away in a Manger”

May I suggest you attend a Christmas Eve service today?  It need not be in your regular church.  A number of churches offer this special time each year.  Choose one and participate!  You’ll be surprised by how much it will mean to you!

Kenneth Birch went back to the doctor to have his many staples removed yesterday.  He is feeling better than he was pre-op.  Thank God for his improvement and for continuing improvement in the coming days.

JoEllen Carruth was able to come home late yesterday.  Pray she continues to do well following her second knee replacement.

Pray for safety of all the people who are traveling for the holidays, those who are alone for Christmas, families celebrating the first Christmas without a loved one, and for families that do not meet together any longer.  Holidays can be difficult for many people!

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,

keeping watch over their flocks at night.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them,

and the glory of the Lord shone around them,

and they were terrified.

I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
