“As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on [Cornelius and his household], just as he fell on us at the beginning. Then I thought of the Lord’s words when he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift . . . .
Did you forget that all of us became part of Christ Jesus when we were baptized? In our baptism we shared in his death.

My daddy collected eagles. I’m sitting between two of them now. I think the Scripture here is a good illustration of an eagle. Let’s always cling to our hope in the Lord.
Daily Bible Reading
I get the days of the week and dates of the month confused sometimes. Then, I fail to list the daily Bible readings correctly. I seem to have done that yesterday. I hope you continued to read. I did, without realizing my mistake.
May 30 – Deuteronomy 3-4
May 31 – Deuteronomy 5-7
Prayer Focus
Today, before summer gets a lead on me, I want to pray for water safety.
I pray parents see to it their children can swim, either by teaching them or by taking them to swimmings lessons.
I pray parents are with their children in their water experiences until the children prove over and over they can swim.
I pray parents and children are smart to water conditions, such as rip tides, that are not safe.
I pray for the lives of all the children so they can can grow up and have children of their own who also learn about water safety.

We will begin a study of Psalms by studying the first six verses. I hope you enjoy Psalms. May people have favorite passages that are located in Psalms.
Let’s pray for FAITH to live in the hears of our loved ones, the people we work with, and the people with whom we meet in stores and in our work places. Faith for both the young and the older people in our lives.
That is the title of the book we will study at Pine Ridge in the fall. Order the book and read the first chapter so you will be ready for the first meeting in the fall.
“The bad girls addressed in this book are: Eve, Potiphar’s Wife, Lot’s Wife, the Woman at the Well, Delilah, Sapphira, Rahab, Jezebel, Michal, & the Sinful Woman …”

Thank-You
At Walmart, we saw a friend we haven’t seen in a while. We visited for a few minutes and got an update on his health. Before we ended the conversation, he told me that he still reads “The Prayer Link” every day. Thank you, for your faithfulness for years of reading here!
That’s two Walmart trips in a row that someone we accidentally met mentioned reading TPL! I’m anxious to go back! Maybe, I will meet you!
Cornelius stared at [the angel] in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel.

In preparation for Sunday’s lesson, study up on the book of Psalms (when it was written, who wrote it, length, etc.).
VBS
If you weren’t in prayer meeting last night you probably have not see the VBS backdrop and part of the set. It is great! Be appreciative of those who work hard ahead of time, during the VBS week, and afterward to make it the best VBS ever for the children and families who will be touched this week.
Leave today a better person than you are as you enter this morning. To do that, I ….
Today, let’s include VBS teachers in our prayers. We all know how hard they work to prepare and how much harder it is to teach the children all morning dau after day.

Be sure to attend, in person or online, prayer meeting. Your midweek connection to others and to church is important. If you are watching from home, you might want to have a neighbor join you each Wednesday evening.
Remember to call, write, visit, or text someone to check on them, encourage them, visit them, etc. Your concerns for others is important to you and to them.
What season of the year is it? It’s VBS season! VBS begins Monday at FBC, Kentwood. Get your family’s boys and girls registered. Call the church office at 229-8111 or drop by this week to take care of the registration process.
Prayer Focus for Individuals
Pray for the boys and girls who make a decision to take Jesus into their hearts. May they be supported by their home church, if they have one. If not, may they quickly find a church to train and encourage them in their young lives.
As you pray read this, pray. Pray for those learning about missions, those who are serving as missionaries, and those who have served as missionaries. What an important role God has for some estra special people!
Others
Remember to give some time to others today. Encouragement can cost your nothing but a little time for a phone call, a note in the mail, or a visit rather than passing by a home. It may be an encouragement to you, but it certainly is an encouragement to others.
