Obituary

Some of you may know this family.

Rev. Frederick Brumfield

October 4, 1971 – June 6, 2025

Frederick John Brumfield, a beloved husband, grandfather, uncle, pastor and friend passed away Friday night June 6, 2025, at the age of 53. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of profound faith, unwavering love and selfless service that touched countless lives. He was a true servant of God and a true example of such to his family, friends, and all that knew him.

Frederick was born in Franklinton, Louisiana on October 4, 1971, and at a very young age felt the divine call to the ministry and dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel and serving his community. While just a teenager at Bowling Green School, he led many morning prayers and devotionals for the students there. Even then, he was a leader and someone that was highly regarded.

Frederick served as youth pastor and pastor at several surrounding churches; however, for the past 22 years he has served at Palestine Baptist Church impacting the lives of many through his compassionate leadership, unwavering faith, powerful sermons and heartfelt counseling. He was most known for his humbleness, warmth, forgiving heart, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was an encourager and a mentor and led countless lives to Christ. He had a gift of remembering names and faces, even up to his last days, which demonstrated his genuine love for everyone he met. Beyond the pulpit, Frederick was a devoted family member and the best friend anyone could ever imagine.

Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Tanna McCarty Brumfield, 4 children and spouses, Joel and Cheyenne Brumfield, Dwayne Brumfield and fiancé Valerie McDonald, Destiny and Trevor Lindsey, Gabrielle and Logan McGregor; a sister and brother in law Lisa Brumfield Jenkins and Brent Jenkins. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren who he loved dearly, Audree, Janie Beth, Nola, Rory and John, as well as his father-in-law and mother in law, Bobby and Delores McCarty, his two brother-in- laws and sisters in law Paul and Elesha McCarty, Chris and Tiffany McCarty.

In addition, Frederick will be deeply missed by his nieces, Lauren Vincent, Brittany Jenkins, Kayla Brumfield and nephew Jacob Brumfield and his great-nieces, Brylie, Addison, Graciann. and great-nephews Colden, Asher.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Megan Grace Brumfield, a son, Samuel James Brumfield, Mother, Imogene Thomas Brumfield, Father, Denman Colden Brumfield and his brother, Reverend Denman “Denny” Colden Brumfield, II.

Visitation will be at Palestine Baptist Church (59369 Palestine Church Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427) on Wednesday June 11th from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Aaron Johnson and Rev. Tony Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery in Franklinton.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to either of these specific ministries within Palestine Baptist Church, The Children’s Fund, Youth Fund or Benevolence Fund at the address above. Or donations can be made to Gideon’s International to spread God’s Word to all the Earth (www.gideons.org).

FRIDAY

Good morning. It’s the end of another work week for many people. If you are like me, the days often run into each other. I can always look at The Prayer Link and figure out the right day of the week and to my prayer journal for the correct day. of the week.

Prayer Focus

Today is the last day of VBS and the day of the evening program. We don’t have any children or grandchildren in VBS, but we have lots of little friends in VBS, so we always try to attend their program. I hope to see some of you there at 6:00 also. I can relate to many previous Bible Schools, even when I attended VBS in Roseland growing up.

Verse of the Day

Believe it or not, this isa passage I have heard in VBS as a child and as an adult teacher/leader! How about you? Do you associate this verse with VBS?

Daily Bible Reading

The group of ladies who meet on some Wednesdays grows in number every year. In the fall, we will begin our study of Bad Girls of the Bible. We hope to learn from their mistakes and their good choices. Locate your book now so you can read chapter one before we start weekly lessons.

Additional Bible Study

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

James 1:2-3

James 1:2-3 (Easy English) encourages believers to consider trials as joyful because they can help develop faith and patience, which are essential for spiritual maturity. Trials, while difficult, can actually strengthen our faith in God and help us trust Him more fully.

Stay in contact with people.

It can be relatives, neighbors, church friends, etc. One of the groups David and I work with on a semi-regular schedule is Operation Christmas Child. We are working to purchase items to fill 450 Shoeboxes for the older boys, ages 10-14 years of age. If you would like to help us, you can purchase items or help us purchase items. Now, we are working on calculators, school supplies, bandanas, small flashlights, etc. We meet at the church often to get the items counted and ready for packing.

Have a great Friday!

Find the time and one of your favorite ways of reaching out to others today. I often choose calls, cards, and/or cooking. What works best for you?

Don’t hibernate!
