Chris and Kathy’s daughter just sent an update on Korey and Chris’ surgeries. Korey is home and already noticing how much better he feels and walks. Chris is still at the hospital, but plans are to release him today. Chris also is feeling a needed improvement and expects to be released today. Everyone surely is wearing a big smile at this point.
The family thanks you for your continued prayers. They apologized for not updating you sooner. Keep praying!
Let’s thank God for allowing us to live today and our ability to connect with Him periodically throughout the day. When we fail to pray, we miss sweet and meaningful opportunities.
Obituary
Ella Cleora Hyde Hayden
November 27, 1926 – September 4, 2025
Ella Cleora Hyde Hayden was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 4, 2025, at the blessed age of 98.
Cleora was born on November 27, 1926, in Roseland, LA, to Brice Miller Hyde and Emma Elizabeth Eldridge. She grew up on the family farm, where she learned the values of hard work and dedication, and she was a graduate of Chesbrough High School. In 1946, in Amite, LA, she met the love of her life, John Pershing “Johnney” Hayden. After marriage, they made their home in various locations across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. A devoted homemaker, Cleora also used her many talents as a beautician and a gifted floral designer, owning and operating several small businesses. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She and Johnney were blessed with two children, Lewell Patrick “Pat” Hayden, LTC Retired US Army (Faye) and Joannie Jena’ Hayden.
Cleora is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, John; her parents, Brice and Emma Hyde; her siblings: Lewell Brice, Digby Merrel, Buddy Frank “BF”, Erwall Carl, Herbert Miller “Joby,” and Juanita Thomas; and her daughter-in-law, Candace Hayden, son-in-law, Larry Grabert.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Pat Hayden (Faye) and Jena’ Hayden; her grandchildren: Tiffoney LaJaunie (Brent), Jennifer Hayden, Rebecca Haaby (Robert), Jessica Dick (Mike), and Melissa Parrino (Andrew); her great-grandchildren: Joshua, Ethan, Bryce, Bricen, Aven, Jamerson, Gavin, Sela, Mahlet, Mariah, and Marissa; and her great-great-grandchildren: Adalyn and Eli.
Cleora was a woman of unwavering faith, whose love for the Lord shone through in her every word and deed. She found profound joy in prayer, strength in Scripture, and peace in lifting her voice in praise. Her life was a testament to her trust in God’s plan, demonstrated through her boundless kindness and compassion for others. She often found comfort in the promise of Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” While our hearts grieve her absence, we do not grieve as those without hope. We rejoice in the assurance of Christ’s resurrection and the promise that we will be reunited with her in the glory of God’s eternal kingdom.
A service to celebrate Cleora’s life and her heavenly homecoming will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, 110 E. Factory St., Amite, LA, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Hyde Cemetery on LA-1058. A reception for family and friends will be held after the interment at the Florida Parishes Skeet & Gun Club, 61282 VFW Rd., Amite, LA.
We take immense comfort in knowing that Cleora is now at perfect peace, resting securely in the loving arms of her Savior.
The WMU speaker next Saturday will focus on Camp Living Waters and using it to impact our children, youth, and adults. Donations to the offering in the fall each year impact CLW and other sites and ministries throughout the state.

While we celebrate our rich cultural heritage and unmatched hospitality, we recognize that many of our 4.6 million neighbors have yet to encounter the life-changing message of Jesus. Our state represents one of America’s most crucial mission fields.
Meeting Real Needs, Sharing Real Hope
The challenges facing our communities—poverty, addiction, broken families, disaster recovery, and spiritual emptiness—are opportunities to share the Gospel. Through the Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering, we equip Louisiana Baptists to meet practical needs while sharing eternal hope.

22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.
23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.
25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

Today, let’s focus on the fact that our days are numbered. Our final destination is determined at that. point. There is no longer an opportunity to change our ways and our destination then. Let’s pray for people to know that and to be smart and choose a eternity in heaven with Jesus.

‘Only Out of Love’
11 You must stop those people from teaching false things like that. They are causing whole families to believe their lies. They teach things that they should not teach. They deceive people because they want people to give them money.
12 Many years ago, there was a certain man who lived on Crete. The people there called him their prophet. Even he said, ‘People who live on Crete are always telling lies and doing wicked things. They are lazy and they eat too much food.’
13 What that man said is true. So you must warn the people there. Help them to believe the true message about Jesus more and more.
14 They must not listen to Jewish stories that are not true, or to human rules. Those things are the ideas of people who refuse to obey God’s true message.

Maurice Wall passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA, surrounded by his family. He was born February 26, 1947 in Amite, LA, and was 78 years of age. He married Edna Marie Miller in 1970, and they settled in Greensburg, where they raised a family.
Maurice was a proud graduate of Amite High School, and attended State Championship games in the Louisiana Superdome on numerous occasions to cheer on the Warriors. What is this Offering?
Every year Louisiana Baptists take up an offering dedicated to help fund missions and ministries around the state. The money received through the offering is used by God to transform the lives of people and churches in Louisiana.
Learn more about some of the specific ministries that benefit from this offering and how your gifts are allocated.
The offering is typically promoted and collected by the churches of Louisiana. But, if you are inclined to give an individual gift, you can do that here.
Georgia? Louisiana? Huh?
The yearly Louisiana Missions Offering is named in honor of Miss Georgia Barnette, a missionary to New Orleans in the early 1900s. Keep reading to learn more about her story.

Morning Thought – Quote of Charles Spurgeon
Isaiah 51:5
In seasons of severe trial, the Christian has nothing on earth that he can trust to, and is therefore compelled to cast himself on his God alone. When his vessel is on its beam-ends, and no human deliverance can avail, he must simply and entirely trust himself to the providence and care of God. Happy storm that wrecks a man on such a rock as this! O blessed hurricane that drives the soul to God and God alone! There is no getting at our God sometimes because of the multitude of our friends; but when a man is so poor, so friendless, so helpless that he has nowhere else to turn, he flies into his Father’s arms, and is blessedly clasped therein! When he is burdened with troubles so pressing and so peculiar, that he cannot tell them to any but his God, he may be thankful for them; for he will learn more of his Lord then than at any other time. Oh, tempest-tossed believer, it is a happy trouble that drives thee to thy Father! Now that thou hast only thy God to trust to, see that thou puttest thy full confidence in him. Dishonour not thy Lord and Master by unworthy doubts and fears; but be strong in faith, giving glory to God. Show the world that thy God is worth ten thousand worlds to thee. Show rich men how rich thou art in thy poverty when the Lord God is thy helper. Show the strong man how strong thou art in thy weakness when underneath thee are the everlasting arms. Now is the time for feats of faith and valiant exploits. Be strong and very courageous, and the Lord thy God shall certainly, as surely as he built the heavens and the earth, glorify himself in thy weakness, and magnify his might in the midst of thy distress. The grandeur of the arch of heaven would be spoiled if the sky were supported by a single visible column, and your faith would lose its glory if it rested on anything discernible by the carnal eye. May the Holy Spirit give you to rest in Jesus this closing day of the month. (from Verse of the Day)

New Church Year and Prayer Focus
Tomorrow is the first Sunday of our new church year. One important part of that is many of our children will be promoted to a new class and a new teacher. Pray for the children and teachers as they make this adjustment. Especially pray for those who will now be moved up to the youth department.
Sunday
Prepare for your Sunday School lesson. This will be the last one from Psalms this year. The lessons have been very good. New literature for the next quarter will be available in your classroom tomorrow.
Continued Prayer Needs
Pray for the employees of Smitty’s as many of them adjust to a new job or continue to seek a new job. In your prayers, please continue to thank God they are all living and none were injured.
4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Thank-you for reading today. I hope you found something here that is meaningful and inspiring.
“To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.”

Sunday School
If you haven’t already done so, today is the day to begin studying your Sunday School lesson for Sunday. It is based on Psalms 42:1-11.
Be an Encourager Today
Sometimes you know the events that discourage people, but not always. Often, just speaking with someone for a minute or two lets you know so much about what is happening in their heart. I know you cannot solve every problem a person has, but surely a few kind words are an encouragement. Give it a try.
