Jerry MacArthur White

June 25, 1943 – February 2, 2022

Mr. Jerry MacArthur White, 78, of Osyka, MS, passed away at his home on February 2, 2022.

Mr. Jerry was born in Carbon Hill, AL and was the son of Cecil White and Christine Cox White. Jerry was a loving husband, pawpaw, and “Paw J’. He was a person who worked extremely hard, and loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He served our country in the United States Navy and his family was very proud of him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Karl White; one son, Michael White and one brother-in-law, Richard Ortner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Denise White of Osyka, MS; daughters, Gina Mitchell (Pat), Michelle Durr, and Stacy Spinks (Bobby); son, Stephen Achord (Charlotte); bonus daughter, Carla Weeks and son-in-law, Errol Durr; three sisters, Patsy Burt (Darryl), Christie Ortner, and Shelia McKenny; six grandchildren, Blake Stewart (Anna), Michael Durr, Shelbi Durr, Jared Gordon, Brandon Johnson, and Lily Achord; two great-grandchildren, Piper Stewart and Baylor Stewart, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will have a memorial service announcement at a later date.

A resident of Roseland, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was born October 29, 1953 in Amite, LA and was 68 years of age. He served in the United States Marine Corp as Lance Corporal. He was a graduate of Amite High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and retired truck driver. Dr. Charles Anthony Cefalu Sr.

Dr. Charles Anthony Cefalu Sr. peacefully passed away at the age of 70 on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his home, in Slidell, Louisiana. He was born on January 30, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Cefalu loved LSU, his patients, and most importantly, his family. He dedicated most of his years as a physician to caring for the elderly in a way that most wouldn’t understand and providing an incredible life for his family in an insurmountable way. Dr. Cefalu was the son of the late Mary Ann and Nicholas Cefalu Sr. He has eight siblings: Vincent N Cefalu Sr. (Pat), Ursula Cefalu Sherman, Paulette Cefalu Walkwitz (Ed), Nicholas Cefalu Jr., William T. Cefalu (Liz), Joseph M. Cefalu (Julie), Ann Kay Cefalu Logarbo, and Francis J. Cefalu (Connie). Dr. Cefalu is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dr. Jean Erickson Cefalu and his five children: Sarah Herrington (M. Bryce Herrington), Dr. Charles Cefalu Jr. (Amanda Cefalu), Dr. John Cefalu (Alexis Cefalu), Michael Cefalu (Allison Cefalu), and Gregory Cefalu (Citlalic Snell). He has nine grandchildren: Liam, Parker, Connor, Charlie, Emma, Lena, Mary Jean, Lucy, Carson, and one more on the way. This is the day – the Lord’s Day! Don’t think HE doesn’t expect you to give HIM HIS time today. HE loves you and wants to have you spend some time with HIM. HE has so much to teach you! HE knows you need some guidance and purpose for the coming week. HE loves that you give HIM some of your time and will focus on HIM.

This month, January, is almost over. I hope you have been writing a verse each day. That’s surely not too much to expect when you have so much time to do other things. If you missed some days, it’s okay to look back to find the Scriptures you missed and catch up.

Mrs. Myra Fay Travis was born December 14, 1942 and passed away at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Baytown, TX. She was 79, a native of Bolivar, LA. and a resident of Baytown, TX.

Survived by her daughter, Fay Elizabeth Sanchez and husband Ray; her brother, Benja Ralph Fussell and wife Nancy; two grandsons, Michael Joseph Sanchez and Matthew Jared Sanchez; two great-grandsons, Christopher Ray Sanchez and Colin Blake Sanchez; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Reid Travis; a son, Willie Reid Travis II; parents Roscoe Benjamin Fussell and Margarette Hyde Fussell; and sister Nancy Irene Fussell.

MY “GOD WINK” TODAY

This morning I dropped my wallet as I got in the car at Walmart. Without going into all the events that brought about, I will simply say the wallet was turned in at Mike’s, where it was found near the garbage cans late this afternoon. David’s niece, Julia, and her husband, Keith, own the restaurant. I was called to pick up my wallet. The only thing missing was the cash.

David and I prayed again and again that the wallet would be returned. I felt like the house phone would have a message for me about my wallet when we got home, but no message. A few hours later, we got the call we had prayed for all day. At the restaurant, we talked with the lady who turned it in and learned she lives near us!

What a day! What a God!!!

Bro. Darrell says there is still a lot of Covid in our community. Many have a light case, but some have more serious cases. Please pray for all the families who have a family member with this illness. Also, pray for the families who have a family member recovering. I hear recovery can take a long time or in some cases, some of the symptoms stay with the patient.

The February mission project will be clothing (underwear, shirts, bandanas, and socks) for boys and girls ages 2-14 which will be shared through Operation Christmas Child. More information will be provided next week.

It is not too late to contribute to the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions. Mark your envelope Lottie Moon and give through the Sunday offering or the church office. One great thing about this offering is that 100% of it goes directly to missions. If you ever wish to help with international missions, this offering is the best way.
