This is will be at night next week like the VBS at New Zion and Line Creek.  Children in our area have some good choices.

Geoffrey Dennis Bel
(July 10, 1978 – July 5, 2013)

A resident of Amite, he died on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. He was born July 10, 1978 in Hammond and was 34 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Brandy Kay Bel; 3 daughters, Alayna Evelyn, Katelyn Alexandra and soon to arrive Sara Alexis; father, Dennis Bel; mother, Claire Dupuy Bel; grandmother, Norma Jean Bel; 2 brothers, Clay Bel and wife, Courtney and Chris Bel; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph Bel, Sally and Armond Dupuy. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 12 Noon until religious services at 3 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013. Jesse Wall says he is progressing well following his hospital stay and surgery.  Thank you for your prayers for him.

Melissa Johnson has reached a point where she is better able to care for herself since her recent surgeries.  Thank you for praying for her.

John Orr, from Texas, is home and making some progress after his recent surgery.

Austin Rose, from Georgia

  • Austin update … Had a wonderful day yesterday. I left to go home and shower and came back to this …Austin sitting up eating jello!! First meal in almost 2 weeks! GOD IS AWESOME!
  • Austin also got a very good results on his blood work!
 The youth from SCBC are home from camp.  They invite you to a Sunday night sharing of their experiences and decisions.

Looking ahead – VBS at New Zion next week and at Roseland the following week.

My niece, Kristin, is on a mission trip to Haiti again this summer.  Pray for the children she is working with.  Pray for Kristin and her team as they plant spiritual seeds and harvest those previously planted.

Line Creek will be celebrating with special services each Monday of July.

Pray for Carol New.  She now has a neurostimulator to help with the pain.  She will also be wearing a brace for about three months.  Thanks for your continued prayers for her.

Eva Smith is much better.  She no longer has a-fib and is only on 40% oxygen as compared to 100% oxygen 24 hours earlier.  The fluid around her heart has gone away with medication.  Thanks for praying for her yesterday.

Continue to pray for Robbie Lynn.  Her family appreciates your prayers.

Continue to pray for Austin Rose.  He had his first treatment for leukemia yesterday  and will celebrate his 17th birthday tomorrow (Friday).

Lea Smith is doing well following his eye surgery for cataracts.  Wanda Smith is wearing a “boot” as a last resort before facing surgery on her foot.  Pray God directs her in the proper path to healing.

Pray for Robbie Lynn to have a good day today.

Andy Taylor’s sister, Cindy Juban, is scheduled to meet with the surgeon so work on her tumors can begin.

Mrs. Mary Womack is home.  Pray she has a good day today.

Chase Birch is doing well following surgery on his right (pitching) arm.  Continue to pray for him.

Mrs. Ruth Cutrer is doing well following her surgery.  Pray she continues to improve.

Continue to pray for Susan Rimes.  She is very uncomfortable as she deals with kidney stones a little longer.

Continue to pray for Melissa Johnson.  Most of us cannot imagine having two broken arms and facing a big feeling of helplessness.

Line Creek Baptist Church will be celebrating their VBS Commencement tonight at 6:30.  Thank God for another opportunity for children to learn about God, to have fun while doing so, and have the opportunity to accept Jesus in their hears.

Austin Rose  – Life has changed so much for this family in just a few days.  Isn’t it comforting to know God hasn’t changed?

Update on Austin … He had surgery this morning to put in a temporary vascular catheter. Used it to start dialysis tonight. Tomorrow he starts a week long chemo treatment followed by another week of more intense chemo. He then gets a week break before next round. If he is doing well he may get to go home for a few days. One day at a time though. Steve and I are absolutely amazed and in awe of how many prayers are being said for him. We have a tough journey ahead so please keep praying for a complete healing. And in my prayers I will thank GOD for each one of you!!

VBS at Mt. Nebo – Tuesday night the y had 90 children and 133 total in attendance.  Praise the Lord!

Mrs. Susie Wales was able to return home yesterday.  She and her family are very appreciative of your prayers.

Mrs. Sherry Day was also hospitalized over the weekend with cellulitis.  She thinks she may have had a mosquito bite that caused a reaction.

VBS at Mr. Nebo last night was wonderful.  They were blessed to have 86 children present.  The children were blessed by the VBS staff.

Mrs. Janie Wise spoke at the WMU meeting at New Zion sharing about Camp Tall Timbers.

The June “Young” Ladies Birthday Party will be at Nyla’s at 11 A.M. today.  Ladies being honored are Bettye Fussell, Sandra Arnold, Maxine Turner, Alcyon Hayden, and Barbara Hutchinson.

(June 5, 1987 – June 23, 2013)

A resident of Meadville, MS, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Kentwood. He was born June 5, 1987 in Wurzburg, Germany and was 26 years of age. He was a student at Co-Lin Community College and a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was also a member of O’Zion Baptist Church in Meadville, MS. Survived by daughter, Alexa LaClaire Owen; mother, Ramona Trout Owen; father, Frank Vincent Owen, Sr.; stepmother, Callie Michelle Owen; brothers and sisters, Frank Vincent Owen, Jr., Amber Marie Owen, Ashley Elizabeth Robison and husband, Jacob, and Joshua Alexander Owen; niece, Lanna Marie Robison; grandparents, Larry and Jean Trout, Frank and Linda Owen and Jerrie Sue Cutrer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Marvin “R.L.” Miller
(February 3, 1942 – June 23, 2013)

A resident of Hillsdale, died at 8:47 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home. He was born February 3, 1942 in Hillsdale and was 71 years of age. Sunday – The Lord’s Day

“Jesus answered,

I received word and/or pictures from several Vacation Bible Schools.  I’m so thankful churches realize the importance of VBS to the children.  Thank-you to everyone who worked in any way at any church to provide for the children.  More mission teams are home with a suitcase full of dirty clothes and a heart full of memoriers.  You can’t go wrong when you tell others about what’s in God’s Word.  Stay tuned.  There are more VBSs coming!

At 6:30 tonight there will be a youth concert at The Lord’s Church.  All area youth are invited to participate.

Pine Ridge United Methodist Church will have their monthly, fourth Sunday, breakfast this morning.  Donations will be received for Pat and Ken Norton.  This church has been doing the monthly breakfasts for a long time.  They’ve helped a lot of people.  That’s a great local mission project!

Jack M. Linzay Sr.

Jack M. Linzay Sr., 81, was born in Lecompte, Louisiana, to Lee Howard and Essie Pittman Linzay on February 20, 1932 and passed from this life on June 22, 2013 at Dubuis Hospital, Alexandria.

Jack attended Menard High School where he was captain of the football team. He then went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Navyduring the Korean Conflict on the USS McNair, at which time he circled the earth two times.

After returning from the Navy, he met the love of his life, Martha Ann Crutchfield and they were married August 18, 1956. He then went on to attend Southwestern Louisiana University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Industrial Arts. Jack then began working for Southern Farm Bureau in Lafayette Parish and soon moved to Tangipahoa Parish, where he was agency manager for seventeen years. While in Amite, Jack was instrumental in helping to establish Oak Forrest Academy in 1969 and served as the first school board president.

He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Amite, and was actively involved in several mission trips and church construction projects in Mexico while serving. In 1979 Jack moved to the Alexandria area, where his life-long dream was fulfilled, by opening his own building and contracting business. Jack had a special talent and passion for custom cabinets and millwork and was a member of the Central Louisiana Home Builders Association. Over his lifetime, Jack served on many building projects and construction of several churches and buildings, including but not limited to, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Word of Grace and Trinity Christian Center.

Jack was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Martha Ann Crutchfield Linzay; four sons, Jack M. Linzay Jr. of Alexandria, James “Jim” C. Linzay and wife, Jill of Pineville, John H. Linzay and wife, Rita of Lecompte and Jeffrey S. Linzay and wife, Tammy of Dry Prong; thirteen grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Rachel, Jason, Amy, Jessica, Hannah, Emily, Amy, Christopher, Mathew, Michael and Danny and four great grandchildren.

The family asks that visitation be observed Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and continue Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Services celebrating his life will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. David Remedios and Dr. Joshua Joy Dara officiating. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Christian Center, 3466 Hwy 112, Forrest Hill, LA, 71430.
