Today, let’s pray for all the Sunday School teachers in out churches. These leaders spend much time preparing to teach on Sunday mornings. There is no compensation for what they do at home or in their classroom. That doesn’t stop them from teaching each week!

Louisiana Baptist Message
This post is not updated on Sundays, but will still have some of their articles from the past week available for us to read.
Have a good day of study and worship in your church. As you leave, take what you have learned and use it during the week to tell others about Jesus. Never forget that JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!
I missed you the past week. David and I took a much needed trip to Branson, MO. I planned to “visit” you each day, but there was a problem with the internet in the hotel where we stayed. I also was not feeling my best, but am better now. It is miserable to be “under the weather” and not at home. I apologize for not posting, but the situation was “out of my hands”.
Several of you checked on us or had a relative or friend to contact us. That made us feel good, but it just didn’t help my ability to post. I’m sure I missed you more than you missed me.
We did get to see a number of shows in Branson that were wonderful. We experience the Christmas season with wonderful holiday decorations everywhere around us, watched some video presentations about the origin of Branson and another one, “Where Jesus Walked” that was very good. We also heard some great music and watched people of all ages on the stage. The music was wonderful and certainly helped us to think about the real meaning of Christmas. Today, I will be back on my shedudle and also catching up on some items I want to share.
Prayer Focus for Today
Today, let’s pray this Christmas season to be a time of healing in hearts that have faced major hurts or changes in the last few weeks and months. If you are one of those people, please know we are praying for you in the coming days of December and all the way to the year 2025.

Christmas Cards
I received 205 cards for prisoners in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
When I get to the church, I will update this total if more cards were turned in while we were traveling. Thank you so much for participating in this mission project of Women on Mission. I know the families touched by the cards will be very appreciative.

Charles was in construction all of his life and he loved to work, to see things come together and just to see the finished project. He had many life threatening health issues the last 2 years. He thanked God for bringing him through. He wanted to live to be 80, but since it is not to be, please remember him on February 5th. He lived a simple life. He didn’t require much for himself, but gave a lot. Many thanks to all the doctors and staff, Dawn his home health nurse, St. Helena Council on Aging and Meals on Wheels. Special thanks and blessings to those who were the hands and feet of Jesus who ministered to him as written in Matthew 25. Pallbearers are nephews, Michael and Gary Armato, Doug and Steve Wilson, Daniel Scott and brother-in-law, Danny Scott.
Lottie Moon Tea
I was able to attend the Women on Mission/WMU Tea at Spring Creek Baptist Church before attending the funeral for my cousin, Fran, last Saturday. Wow, so much has happened since then!
The tea was an opportunity to gather with ladies, sing Christmas carols, pray for those who will be touched by the cards, and for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in 2024.
We also heard from a young lady who will going to a country in Europe in September 2025. She is so excited to have been selected, with her husband, to tell others about Jesus and to be a mentor to those who live there.
I could really relate to her because our daughter and her family were able to do that in June 2000 after she and her husband had already served in different countries as part of the Journeyman Program and served in a Texas church. They also had two young children when they left. Hearing from this young lady made me think back to June, 2000 when they left and to dedicate my prayers in the coming months and years to her and her husband as they serve.
Sunday School
I missed teaching my wonderful ladies last week, but Mrs. Barbara Baugh stepped in and taught the class. I love to hear her teach. My class also had a meeting at Judy Liberto’s class Tuesday. I missed being there with them. I look forward to continuing the study of Exodus tomorrow.
Reading Luke this month.
I hope you were able to continue reading Luke last week. If so, you should be on chapter 11 now. Wherever you are, keep reading. It will be a good addition to the Christmas season in your home and help keep your focus on the real reason we celebrate during this time of the year.
Think of Others
This is a wonderful time of the year to think of family and friends. Make sure you spend some of the remainder of this month thinking of others and spending time with them. You can help “make the holidays special” for them in your own ways. David and I will be trying to do the same.
Today, let’s pray for pastors who will be preaching today, music ministers who will lead choirs and the congregation, and for Sunday School teachers as they teach. These and other make our church services wonderful worship experiences.
Two Rivers Associational WMU
The meeting at Spring Creek yesterday was very good. I will let you know when it’s time for the next meeting which will be at Montpelier.

Shoebox Report:
Operation Christmas Child Drop-Off Week
Today, I would love to give you some Operation Christmas Child corrections of statistics. I was having computer issues yesterday morning, so I want to make some additions and corrections.
First Baptist Church served as an area location of the drop-off of shoeboxes and transported the boxes (two trips) to their next site. The drop-off week was November 18-25.
FBC, Kentwood packed 499 shoeboxes.
We received a total of 1,493 shoeboxes from churches during the eight days.
906 shoeboxes were received on the first day.
12 churches delivered shoeboxes to our collection site.
There were 13 volunteers who “manned” our drop-off location and who put in a total of 288 hours during those 8 days.
These people placed the boxes in 94 large cartons holding an average of 15-16 shoeboxes.
The cartons were placed in the trailer along with 12 boxes of filler that was sent to help fill boxes that needed to have something, such as a liquid, removed.
We often pray for individuals with serious illnesses and for individuals with deaths is the family. Today, let’s pray for those who have a common cold that they are having a hard time clearing up. Colds make a person feel bad and are easily spread. People feel they cannot miss work, attend school, etc. until they are completely well, so they often wind up exposing other people. Today, let’s pray people don’t have a lingering cold that spreads or turns into something else.
Have a good weekend, but don’t leave God out of your plans.

Christmas Cards with Stamped Envelopes
Please try to get your Christmas cards with stamps applied to the envelopes to the church today. There is a green basket in the entry to the church where you can turn in your cards. I will deliver them to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite so prisoners can write to loved ones during the Christmas season. It won’t be the same as being at their family gatherings during the holidays, but it is better than no contact at all.
This is a small way we can share the joy, and the meaning, of Christmas with others who may not be able to attend a religious service or visit with family. This is what is needed:
Cards, hopefully religious ones
A stamp placed on each envelope
That’s not asking a lot. Put yourself in the place of the family members and think how happy they will be if they get a card from a family member who is incarcerated. Hopefully the cards will inspire the prisoner and/or family to think about Jesus and why we celebrate Christmas.
Lottie Moon Christmas Tea/Offering
Come to Spring Creek Baptist Church at 10 A.M. Saturday to celebrate international missions and learn how we can give to support those who tell about Jesus in countries far from home. They give their time and energy for years to focus on spreading the Good News of Jesus. We don’t go, we provide funds for their ministries around the world. It’s our way of “going”.
You can contribute at your church by placing your “gift” in the specially marked envelope or indicating on your check or regular envelope your desire to support international missions with your “gift”. If you can’t be present, mail in your offering to your church or ask someone to take it for you.
I hope you have time to read some of these excellent articles.

they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on

Prayer Focus Today and Action
This morning I had been thinking about people who live alone. Often their days are lonely with little or no contact with others. This happens day after day and can surely be very depressing. Let’s pray for those in our area who are alone and find ways (Calls, visits, cards, etc.) to help them feel less alone. Let’s pray we will help them feel less lonely and more loved. If nothing else, select one person and check on them daily.

No matter the reason they are in jail, I think they will miss being away from their family during the Christmas season. You never know, but maybe a card will touch their heart in a special way.
Anyone can participate in this project. Please give me the cards by Sunday so I can get them to the jail Monday. THANKS for helping make a difference for a family/families.

Luke was a doctor and wrote in great detail. He shares with us many events in the life of Jesus. Please join me in reading. This is a good family project and helps us focus on Jesus.

Have a great day and a great Christmas season! Don’t miss the Christmas opportunities you have of giving (not aways something you wrap in colorful paper) to others.
Pray for all the holiday travelers as they continue to travel. Most of our company left, by car, early yesterday morning. The last four left a little earlier this morning. Special Prayers
Pray for adults and children as they prepare for Christmas music and special programs. Pray also for musicians, directors, and technical crews working in the background.
Pray also for families as they plan Christmas gatherings and meals.
May each person realize this special season is not about trees or gifts, but the greatest gift ever given to mankind, Jesus!
It was wonderful to hear the children as they answered questions from the children’s minister yesterday morning. They understood the real reason for Christmas is Jesus.
