“What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven!

What joys when sins are covered over!

What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record.”

~Psalm 32:1-2 (TLB)~

We seem to have a number of deaths today.

Mary Belinda Ardoin Chavers

February 09, 1949 – January 24, 2021

Belinda was born on February 9, 1949 and on January 24, 2021 she left the loving arms of her family and went to the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus.

1 Peter 3:2-4 perfectly describes Belinda. “For when they observe your pure, godly life before God, it will impact them deeply. Let your true beauty come from your inner personality, not a focus on the external. For lasting beauty comes from a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is precious in God’s sight and is much more important than the outward adornment of elaborate hair, jewelry, and fine clothes.”

Belinda was born to Mary Adele and Joseph Audley Ardoin. She was a native of Ville Platte, Louisiana and a resident of Amite, Louisiana. She completed cosmetology school in 1966. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Jr. She proudly traded in her scissors for her self-proclaimed title of Domestic Engineer. Her joy in life was serving her husband, and he, in turn, loved and served her. She was a devoted mom and instilled family values and the love of Christ in her children. Her grandchildren, who were perfect in her eyes, were her pride and joy.

Belinda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Luther Chavers, Jr. Her daughter and son-in-law, Connie & Malcolm Henry; her son, Paul Chavers; her grandchildren, Cody and Erica Husser, Blake Henry and fiancé Victoria Rocquin, Mackenzie Chavers and Landon Chavers; great-grandson, Dason Cole Husser; her sisters Mary Domingue, Lafayette; Jane Bustamante, Metairie; Georgia (Wally) Wagner, Hammond; brother, J.A. (Joyce) Ardoin, DeRidder; sisters-in-law, Diane Hilton, Virginia “Jenny” (Ricky) Lambert, Amite; brother-in-law, Wayne (Rhonda) Chavers, Loranger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Mary Adele Guillory Ardoin and Joseph Audley Ardoin and her precious grandson, Zachary Ryan “Fred” Henry.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at North Oaks Medical Center. The love and compassion given to Belinda and the family during this time will forever be appreciated.

Belinda chose to celebrate life daily with her family. To honor her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no memorial or celebration of life service. The family asks for continued prayers as they learn to go forward without their treasure.

It seems like more than 50% of the people that I know who have passed away lately have died because of Covid. Friends, wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing. The life you save might be another friend or family member! It’s really not asking a lot to follow these three guidelines to save those we know and love. – Anna Lee

Bruce Edward Cutrer

January 10, 1948 – January 20, 2021

Bruce Edward Cutrer, a lifelong resident of Amite, LA was born January 10, 1948 and entered into eternal life at the age of 73 while being surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at North Oaks Medical Center of Hammond, LA. As the Fire Chief of Tangipahoa Parish Fire District #1, Bruce dedicated his life as a true public servant for 56 years to the people of Tangipahoa Parish risking his life for the safety of others. While being a member and servant of Cornerstone Church of Amite, Bruce was a man of character who lived his life according to God’s Plan. He was also an ambassador for the city of Amite, Tangipahoa Parish, and the state of Louisiana. He had a genuine heart and love for all people, and a way of personally touching each and every person in the community. While answering all calls and requests regardless of the nature, he always showed up with a servants heart, a big smile on his face and an encouraging word. Bruce had an anointing on him that would immediately calm distressed people and instantly put them at ease with his mere presence. Describing Bruce Edward Cutrer has many facets: The Man (Honorable, Trustworthy, Steadfast, Encouraging, Honest, Wise, Forthcoming with Advice); The Warrior (Went into battle for just causes he believed in and won. He did not know how to lose.); The Legend (The Legacy He Has Left Behind). Famous Quotes by Bruce: “Top of the Day to You”, “Stay to the Right of the Center Line” and “This isn’t my Job, It’s my Calling.” Bruce adored his wife Mary and loved spending time with his family. His most treasured time was spent at his mancave or as he called it “his castle” with NaNa (Mary) and Snap (his faithful dog). His weekend tradition was taking Snap for a ride to Master Chef every Saturday morning for a honey butter biscuit and sausage. While serving as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all, he is survived by his loving wife Mary D. Cutrer of Amite; his son, Bruce E. “Binky” Cutrer, II; daughters, Keeli L. Cutrer and fiancé Danny D. “Bull” Prevost, Jr., Misty S. Jenkins and husband Ryan of Loranger and Kayla S. Hidalgo and husband Jared of Prairieville; grandchildren, Tristan James Ackerman, Madison Claire Ackerman, Paityn Rose Ackerman, and Adelyne Kate Hidalgo on the way. Jaime Lynn Wascom Stewart

June 06, 1976 – January 18, 2021
Miss me…but let me go, when I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me…a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me…but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Master’s Plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart go to the friends we know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, Miss me…but let me go.

Today’s Prayer Focus – Thank God for Bruce Cutrer and all the other firemen & firewomen who serve in our area. Years ago, when my daddy was a fireman, they pretty well only fought fires. Today, they have many other responsibilities. Thank God for their dedication to learning new skills, giving of their time, and availability for helping others. Putting their lives on the line to save others, many of whom they do not know, is just a part of the daily routine.

Rondi Garner Booty sent me a message that her grandmother, Alcyon Hayden, is in North Oaks with Covid pneumonia. Rondi said.” Her oxygen has been great. She is on room air. She is dealing with other issues.” Thank you for joining with me in praying for Alcyon and her family.

As I turned on my computer to add Alcyon, I got a message from a high school classmate that another one of our classmates, Bruce Cutrer, has passed away due to Covid. Bruce made an impact on everyone he met. He was always friendly, kind, and likable in all the years since 7th grade when I first knew him. Bruce is best know for years of service and guidance to the fire department.

Hope Center – Just south of Roseland on Highway 51

I learned yesterday of another friend who works there. It takes a lot of volunteers to operate and serve the people of our area. It also takes special people to give a day of each week to work there. Hope Center is open Tuesday – Friday. Drop in and check them out at their new location.

People who love God and love others find many ways to serve in our communities. Everyone can do something that is a service that is needed by others.

  • Make daily calls to check on those who live alone
  • Help with chores and personal care
  • Do yard work for others
  • Provide transportation
  • Pick up groceries or medicine
  • Perform household tasks
  • Read the Bible to those who can no longer read from themselves
  • Provide firewood
  • Do weekly laundry
  • Etc.

Operation Christmas Child – I know I have told you it is easy to pick one item and make regular, like weekly or monthly, purchases. I know individuals who do this with items such as coloring books or small cars. This idea may work for you too. Simply, select one item and buy one or more every time you shop. Other ideas would be: calculators, scissors, flashlights, AA batteries, large erasers, highlighters, socks, underwear, stick deodorant, hair brushes, toothbrushes, notebooks, small stuffed animals, small cloth dolls, glue sticks, Dial soap, small balls, pocket folders, sewing supplies, spoons, small plastic cups or bowls, marbles, pens, markers, index cards, lip gloss, bandaids, etc.

GENESIS 47:28-50:26

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions

You can give any time of the year at your local Southern Baptist church.

Continue to pray for those who are sick, the families who have lost a loved one, and for people to be more aware of taking care of their health.

Operation Christmas Child – Currently, I am making teddy bears to pack in shoeboxes. What are you doing now or planning to start soon? An early start each year gives plenty of time to accomplish many projects to help pack lots of boxes for a multitude of children!

Yesterday, I shared that we usually watch online church services early on Monday mornings because of poor internet reception during real time. I forgot to mention we changed internet services, but that didn’t help. Yesterday’s service started off the same as usual, but by the second song everything improved except for one minor problem. We watched it all the way to the end with no additional problems. We were also able to watch the evening service with no problems. Some of you must have prayed and someone above listened. Thanks-you!

Have a good, routine week!

Take time to pray. As Bro. Darryl talked about “Sweet Hour of Prayer”, I realized how seldom I pray for an hour. I have some improvement to work on. How about you?
