Thursday

My name will be great among the nations,

from the rising to the setting of the sun.

In every place incense

and pure offerings will be brought to my name,

because my name will be great among the nations,”

says the LORD Almighty.

~Malachi 1:11~

Koltyn Gafforrd is coming home to Amite today.  There are plans to quietly line the streets where they will travel later today.  I know you will pray for the family as they care for him at home and for those who will be working with him.

Pray for Mansell Stinson who is hospitalized in St. Tammany where they are trying to increase his blood circulation.

Mrs. Mildred Birch is doing much better now that she is back in St. Helena Parish.

We seem to have a number of deaths/obituaries again today.  Pray for each family.

Camp Living Waters

Thanks to all who helped provide some of the other items needed at Camp Living Waters.  I’m sure your contributions will make the coming season at CLW more successful.  I appreciate your generosity.  Monica Maddox from CLW is overwhelmed with your generosity.

Operation Christmas Child

Yesterday, I was asked to remind you of the boxes for Operation located in the hallway across from the kitchen at FBC, Kentwood.  You can choose a brown paper bag, fill it, and return it to the same area.  The bag tells you what to purchase for the shoeboxes we will be packing in the fall.  If your items do not fit in the brown paper bag, simply attach the bag to the outside of the larger bag with a string/ribbon.  Let’s get the items we will need to pack the shoeboxes to bless little children around the world with gifts and the opportunity to meet Jesus.

Michael Hornsby is scheduled for surgery at St. Tammany Hospital this morning at 7 A.M. The family has been warned that there are other people who have serious issues that may bump this surgery until later.  No matter the time, please pray.  Let’s consider a delay as an opportunity to pray a little more.

Koltyn Gafford has been allowed to spend more time outside the walls of the hospital. The big news is that he is scheduled to return to Amite on the 19th.  Please pray for the family as they make plans for this major change and for the adjustments that will take place in all of their lives.

Please continue to pray for Joe and Jean Easley.  He is still in the hospital while she is at Kentwood Nursing Home.  Pray for their family, church, and friends.

Bertie Hughes is the sister of Mr. Bobby and Mr. Burnell Simpson.  She is 85 and now living in Texas.  She seems to have multiple issues at the present time.  Your prayers will be appreciated for Ms. Hughes and her caregivers.

Johnnie “Lil Man” Santangello will be having surgery tomorrow to help to drain some fluid building up in his head.  Your prayers will be appreciated.

Thank-you!  Thank-you!  Thank-you!

Thank-you to all those who help with various mission projects.  Currently at FBC, K, we are receiving gifts for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, items for Hope Center, kitchen items for Camp Living Waters, and Operation Christmas Child.  In addition, gifts have been given to a missionary family and a young missionary teacher.  Thank-you to members who have a heart for missions and helping others in so many ways.

Support for Bereaved Families

This is one of those weeks when several people we have know have passed away.  First, we went to honor a friend a little older than David.  His family stuck close to him and helped him get through some difficult days.  Many friends lined up to show their love and support for the family at the funeral home.

Last night, we went to the wake for a younger man who passed away suddenly.  Again the lines were long and the support was overwhelming. Many of the people were also there for the wake earlier in the week.  I’ve never seen so many people stand in the cold and later the “Disney-style lines” back, forth, and around inside the whole funeral home for a couple more hours as I saw last night.  Love was again so apparent.

We have another friend who passed away this week.  Again, I expect long lines of friends who will be showing their love and respect.  As many of you know and I know too,  the love and encouragement of others means so much at a time such as this.  Let me say I am overwhelmed  with love for people of this area who take take and put forth such effort in times of death.  Keep on showing your love for others while they are living and to those who have lost a family member.

Third Thursday at the Cabin

We’re looking forward to having another gathering in the cabin at 6:30 tonight. We’ll be blessed by each of you who comes and joins in the Christian Fellowship.

Friday Morning Bible Study

Tomorrow morning, we will be studying Proverbs 31.  You are invited to join us as we study these Scriptures.

Devotional, Scripture, and a Song

  • “Kindness Gone Viral” – http://odb.org/
  • Jesus loves all of us as little children.

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.                                                                                                     14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.                                                                                                     15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”     16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.                                                                                                               ~Mark 10: 13-16 NIV~   I pray that you…may have power…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.                                                                                  ~Ephesians 3:17-18~

  • “Jesus Loves Me”  –   http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/j/e/s/u/jesuslme.htm        One of the special nights we have had is when we sang this and other songs as people from another country sang the same songs in their native language.  We had unity in Christ at the same time we had so many differences.  What a blessed experience!  What an experience that teaches us of the Christianity that unites us when so many things try to divide us.

Just learned that yesterday the Atlanta Processing Center finished processing 1,445,117 boxes for 2014. Wow!!! That’s a lot of souls that will be touched and witnessed to. I am so excited that I was able to be a part of a group from our church that went and participated in this awesome event.

Wednesday

“Nations will come to your light,

and kings to the brightness of your radiance.”

~Isaiah 60:3, HCSB~

I want to start off with “flu”, because many area people seem to be coming down with flu.  If you are sick, stay home and get well.  If you are well, try to stay that way.  I’m praying for those who have already come down with the flu and for those who are trying not to get sick.

Estelle Watson asked for prayer for her niece.  I forgot the first name, but the last name was Losson.  Estelle’s niece is in the final stages of cirrhosis of the liver.

Carol Ann Cleveland, a classmate from my school days in Amite, has a granddaughter with multiple health issues!  Check out the Facebook page, “Mattie’s Miracles”.  Then, pray.

Pray for those who will travel during the next few weeks.  Pray each home celebrates the true meaning of Christmas.  Pray for safety in all the travels.

Pray for those who will be alone during the Christmas season.  David and I were included in another family’s Christmas last week.  We felt so special!  We will have Jennie’s family after Christmas, but there are others who will not have family at all.

Pray for families who have lost members of their family during the past year.  The first year after a death is extra hard for most people.  Include these people or do something special to help them get through the Christmas season.

David and I will host the monthly Third Thursday meeting tomorrow at the cabin.  Join us at 6:30.  We fully expect another sweet spirit time with others.
