Laura  Lee Robertson had stomach surgery yesterday at Ochsner in New Orleans.  She did well and in recovering nicely.  Please pray her through the recovery and rehabilitation period.

 

 

 

  had fluid removed from his chest area yesterday.  He’s back at home and enjoying being there.

 

 

Please pray for the family of James Morgan.  Sometimes, decisions are tough!

Bro. Daryl and Laurie Miller both have the flu.  Other family members recently had the flu,   Pray for the remaining family members not to get sick too.

 

 

 

Update on Emma Chapman from her grandmother, Mrs. Ann Chapman.

Update on my granddaughter Emma. The mission group is able to continue their ministry in Athens, Greece. They will depart Sunday having a stop over in Paris, France. We are not certain what the conditions will be in Paris. To reenter the country they will be allowed to fly into Atlanta since it is a designated check point for the virus. Please continue to be their ‘Prayer Warriors.’ Thank you and may God bless each of you.

March 10, 1935 – March 11, 2020

A resident of Pine Grove, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg, LA. She was born March 10, 1935 in New Orleans, LA and was 85 years of age. She is survived by her sister, Ione Goynes; and numerous nieces and nephews including Debbie Faust, Lee Ann Sibley, Hollie Hammett, Michael Sibley and Mandy Jo Pickering. Preceded in death by parents, Leon and Thelma Jenkins; sister, Ann Hogan; 2 brothers, Eugene Jenkins and Buddy Jenkins. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Friday, March 13, 2020. Services conducted by Rev. Laverne King. This is the second week for a new ministry that has started at FBC, Kentwood.  It is a weekend feeding program for local students.  Donations of food and/are money are being accepted.  Contacting the church office will be a good way to get involved.

 

 

 

Continue to pray for:

  • those who are sick
  • those who are well, but concerned about getting sick
  • those exposed to the new virus
  • those who are elderly (I cannot put an age with that word.)
  • those with a compromised immune system
  • those who are traveling
  • those who attend schools
  • those in the military, law enforcement, etc.
  • those who go into a compromised environment daily
  • What I am saying is to pray for everyone as decisions are being made about changing or not changing routines due to possible illnesses.  May medical professional, family, and God be in on any life-style changes being made.

Wednesday

Josiah Huckaby is back in the hospital.  Please pray for this sweet family.

They finished the cath around the 1pm & everything went well. We thought this cath would show mild pulmonary hypertension, if any because his last several echos have shown none, but when they got in there his pressures were showing severe pulmonary hypertension which put him at a higher risk than anyone originally thought. We chose to continue the cath so they could do whatever intervention he needed. Echos aren’t exact & the dr said they sometimes completely miss pulmonary hypertension on them. His right upper vein had a little narrowing so they increased the size of the stent & everything looks great on that side. The left upper vein stent was completely closed but it rerouted itself (definitely a God thing!) & is draining into his left lower vein. Since it seems to be draining fine that way, they chose not to do anything else with that vein for now. His pulmonary hypertension did decrease quite a bit when they increased his oxygen during the cath…which is a really good thing. It shows us they can use oxygen to help treat it as needed. He is currently resting with sedation & they should start weaning that in the next couple of hours. If all goes well tonight & tomorrow morning then he should be able to come home tomorrow. To God be the glory!!!

A resident of Roseland, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his home. He was born July 17,1958 in Independence, LA and was 61 years of age. He was a member of New Covenant Church of God. He is survived by wife of 40 years, Bernice Walker; 2 daughters, Amy Walker and fiancé, Ellis Prevost and Ashley Walker and fiancé, Joe Mandella; 1son, Charles Walker and wife, Adrienne Walker; 5 sisters, Brenda Russell and husband, Ricky, Lorraine Crowe, Letitia Patridge and friend, Dennis Biechman, Linda Globe and Susan Purvis; 3 brothers, Charles Purvis, Travis Purvis and Ricky Purvis; 5 grandchildren, Jolene Relan, Ryker Jacobsen, Jeremiah Walker, Isabella Walker and Isaiah Walker. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pearl Walker; 2 brothers, William Purvis and Carl Purvis. A resident of Chalmette, LA, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Greenbriar Community Care Center in Slidell, LA. She was born August 20, 1933 in Tangipahoa Parish, LA and was 86 years of age. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arabi, LA. She is survived by 3 daughters, Beverly Richoux and husband, Ron, Debra Bell and Nicole Penton and husband, Shea; 4 sons, Dennis Keith Bell, Bruce Bell and wife, Madeline and Jeffery Bell and Andre’ Smith; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bell; son, William Wayne Bell; infant daughter, Donna Marie Bell; parents, Warren and Lucy Seals; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters. Robin Alford‘s second surgery on her foot went well yesterday.  Pray for her as she heals.

 

 

 

Please pray for James Morgan and his family.  He had a heart issue late yesterday.

 

 

 

David got his Procrit shot yesterday and a good report from his kidney and cancer doctors.

 

 

 

Connor Miles is finishing hight school and has started getting invitations to different schools.  Yesterday, he was invited to attend West Point.  Connor is the grandson of Dr. J,P. Miles and the son of Brian and Jennifer Miles.  After spending some time with him a couple years ago, I agree he is worthy of such a great institution.  That won’t be his only invitation though.  Pray for Connor and all the other seniors as they make important decisions about their future.

 

 

 

I have read various reports on the coronavirus, and are as puzzles as many of you are.  Yesterday, the IMB, International Mission Board, postponed travel to many places.  This will slow down the spread of the Good News of Jesus.  Pray this time of uncertainly will soon pass.

I’m thankful to hear Smiley Conerly was able to attend church yesterday morning.  I know it means so much to attend after missing for a while.  Please continue to pray for him and Carol Jean.

 

 

 

Two new requests this morning.

  1. Well I am back in the hospital again. Was experiencing sharp pains in my left shoulder blade, indigestion, and blood pressure back through the roof. They admitted me early this morning. Took quite a while before finally getting blood pressure back under control. I had an abnormal nuclear stress test a few weeks ago and was being scheduled for an angiogram in April but looks like my Cardiologist may be scheduling one for tomorrow due to the problems I am experiencing now. Just asking that you please keep me in your prayers and if there are blockages he will be able to stent again. I already have two stents in my main right artery that was done back in 2011. It’s been almost a week since we got the call that Donald Alford had passed away.  He wasn’t sick but a little more than two months.  His death was the third one in less than a year in David’s family – two brothers and a brother-in-law!  Pray for families who face multiple sorrows today.

Ferrie Gene Blackmon is home from St. Tammany and has been home since since Wednesday night,  Pray she does well in recovering from her heart problem.

 

 

 

Sherrill Caraway of Greensburg area is having more issues with his heart rate.  Please pray for him.

 

 

 

Bryan and Rita Tate are home from M. D. Anderson – Bryan got all good reports.

 

 

 

Chuck and Mary Ellen Brister are also home from M. D. Anderson.  Chuck had two strong treatments and is doing very well.  They are still hoping for a diagnosis of Chuck’s problem.

 

 

 

David and I went to the church for a few hours yesterday to work on Operation Christmas Child.  We were happy to find some items that had been turned in Sunday.  Thanks for your contributions.  If you are not in a Sunday School class but would like to participate in the “shoebox” ministry, ideas for items you might want to contribute will be available on a poster by the organ.  Remember, each shoebox we pack will introduce an average of seven people to Jesus.  Can you put a dollar value on that?  What is your salvation worth to you?

Mrs. Ferrie Gene Blackmon had a heart attack.  Now, she has four new stents.  She is in St. Tammany hospital.

Donald “Red” Alford’s wake and funeral are completed.  They were planned and carried out in a uniques manner that “fit” Donald perfectly.  Thanks to all who came and supported the family.

Robin Alford was not ready for surgery yesterday, so it has been postponed for a week.  Thank God for family help and working from home.

 

 

 

Mrs. Mildred Birch will be undergoing a medical test in Baton Rouge today that will determine if she needs surgery.  Please pray for her.  She’s very nervous about this surgery.
