The associational meeting at The Lord’s Church last night was very good.  The L.C. Singers were awesome!  Worship cannot get more real than that!  David and I enjoyed seeing long-time Christian friends from lots of area churches.

 The Best Moore Study “Loving Well” will conclude tonight.  I have a confession.  I was disappointed the study didn’t include the usual “Beth Moore workbook”, but a journal instead.  Now, I can tell you I have used the Scriptures she included to do a self-inventory of my relationships with others.  I found myself needing this study.  I pray I will be able to love as Jesus would have me to love.

A resident of Wilmer, she died at 9:35 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at her home. She was born May 29, 1940 in Baton Rouge to T. C. and Helen Grace and was 72 years of age. Tony L. Noto Sr., 78 years old of Independence, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Richard Murphy Hospice House.

He was born on Thursday, November 9, 1933, in Tickfaw.

Mr. Tony was an Air Force, Korean War Veteran, past board member of The Independence Housing Authority, member of The American Legion Post 109, Independence, where he was Chaplain and Past Commander. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Ind. LA. and the Disalabled American Veterans. He was also a past board member of the War Veterans Home in Jackson LA. and served on the Tangipahoa Parish School Board and the Northlake Area Transplant Support Group.

Surviving are wife of 37 years, Pearl Hano Noto, children, Loretta Patti (Joe), Tony Noto Jr. (Donna), Olin Noto, Michael Noto (Robin), Brittany Miller, Bill Monteleone (Mary), Michael Monteleone (Rhonda), Barbara Ruppert (Greg), and Toni Monteleone, also survived by 26 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren,, sisters, Ann Farris, Josie Drago, Sara Bocage and Lucy Bellavia, brothers, Victor and Sam Noto.

He is preceded in death by parents, Vito Noto and Laura Michelli Noto, daughter Sharon Noto Hammons , an infant daughter, Loraine, brothers, Vincent, Carlo, Frank and Joe Noto.

Friends will be received Friday, October 5, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Hammond. and on Saturday from 9:00a.m. until services.

Services will be held at Funeral Home Chapel – Hammond, Saturday, at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in the Colonial Cemetery Independence, Louisiana.

FORMER SHERIFF AUBREY JONES, AGE 63

And a resident of the Pine/Thomas Community died at 5:35 pm Thursday October 4, 2012 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a lifelong member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was involved in law enforcement for 36 years, having retired from the Louisiana State Police with 20 years of service. Mr. Aubrey then served with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office for almost 16 years, first as a deputy and later as Sheriff. He was a longtime little league baseball and football coach in the Pine and Thomas area. He had a baseball field constructed at his home and hosted countless softball tournaments and church-softball tournaments for many years.

Wife of 45 years: Jean Jones of the Pine/Thomas Community

Son: Brent Jones of the Pine/Thomas Community

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday October 6th from 5 pm until 9 pm and after 10 am on Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Duane Ball, Eld. Willie J. Passman, Rev. Jerry Cox and Rev. Denny Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Please add Sharon Martin’s sister, Elaine LeBauve Harrington of Denhan Springs, to your prayer list.  She learned at OLOL that she has an diverticulitis and an infection.  She will be treated with diet and medication.  Pray she is soon feeling better.

 

Pray for Cora Morris’ brother, Larry  Strahan of Hattisburg.  He has had heart surgery followed by complications.

GENEIVIA BELL GUY BURAS, AGE 71 and a resident of Mt. Hermon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon October 3, 2012. She was a graduate of Mt. Hermon School and attended Spring Creek Baptist Church. Ms. Buras was always a loving and attentive wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending her days caring for her grandchildren Emmi and Beanie.

Thursday Afternoon

Sometimes I fail to realize some people have a medical condition that gives them problems daily.  I have had my eyes opened today as three different ladies I know are experiencing difficult days.  Thank-you Lord for reminding me of those with constant pain and suffering.  Help me be more aware of their problems so I can pray for them and minister to them in appropriate ways.

  • My mom, Beverly Dyer, fell Monday morning. Thankfully, nothing is broken but she is very sore and in a lot of pain. She suffers with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis and is in constant pain already. This fall has made it much worse. Please pray for her to be out of pain soon.

  • Susan Rimes continues to seek information and help for her kidney stones.  Pray for Susan.  This situation as been going on a long time.
  • Mr. Kenneth Felker said “Miss” Grace Helen has been transferred from Greensburg to Baton Rouge.  She has also been sick and in pain a long time.

Please continue to pray for Carol Jean Conerly’s brother, Julius O’Quin, who lives in Houston.  His cancer is winning the battle.  Pray for the O’Quin family as they face these difficult days.

Mrs. Lucy Goings is doing better.  Debi Bales said her mother may be able to come home by Thanksgiving.

Mrs. Mary Womack continues to do well.  He next appointment will be in three months.

Pray for Amanda Brister Bales as she battles kidney stones.  She may soon be facing surgery.  Pray for her family too.

Travis Day said his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Travis, are both at home now.  Pray for them as the bumps and bruises bring soreness.  Thank God for sparing them in a situation that could have been much worse.

Pray for Miss Shira Easley as she has some tests today.  Pray for her as she waits for test results for the next week or so.

Taylor Breeland is doing better.  She seems to be gaining weight and feeling better.  Please continue to pray for this young lady.

Paul Boudreaux is improving after his stroke.  He is overcoming some problems the medical experts never expected him to be able to do.  Thank God for his progress.  Pray for him as he continues the battle.  He may soon be able to go to rehab.

Junius Nolan Sharkey
(August 22, 1923 – October 2, 2012)

Junius Nolan Sharkey was born August 22, 1923 and passed away at 5:03 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. Helena Parish Hospital, Greensburg. Mr. Nolan was 89, a native and resident of Amite.

He was a member of this country’s greatest generation who served our country in the US Navy during WWII.

He is survived by his wife Weesie Hawkins Sharkey; daughter, Donna Sharkey Carter; 2 sons, Dean Sharkey and Scott Sharkey; 4 grandchildren, Erin Carter Howard, Lindsey Leigh Carter, Mitchell Steve Carter and Taylor Blades Sharkey; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceded in death by his parents; James J. and Gurla Pulliam Sharkey; 2 sisters, Katie Mary Sharkey Webb and Bonnie Belle Sharkey Rohner.

Visitation will be at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Kedron Baptist Church, Amite, from 9:00 a.m. until Celebration of Life Services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
