Flooding Relief in Florida

From Christy Haynes

Our island is all about HELPING HANDS!!! I’ve been especially blown away by the students & kids here! They have helped neighbors save pets, they’ve tracked down boats, they’ve rescued people from their homes and even given of their own clothes & toys to friends who lost everything over the past 24hrs. I have not heard complaining. I’ve seen everyone bring awareness to the needs and I’ve seen everyone pull together to help in the ways that they can. That’s legit folks! That’s something to be proud of and that’s being the hands and feet of God. Please contact me or Brady Haynesif you need anything! We will do our best to get it to you. Even if you just need someone to pray with your family and offer counseling. We know this is not just a hit to your material things. It’s emotionally draining and can be scary for the little ones. Speaking of the little ones…snakes are abound so please be careful! Several kids have been out playing in these waters & have seen snakes (including water moccasins) We LOVE all of you. Be Blessed as the sun comes out today.

From Brady Haynes
Instead of Hi-5 yesterday, our students used their hands to be a light in our community. They helped rescue people, pets and boats. They’ve also donated to those in need. Now that’s a bright idea! Please contact me if you need any help today. I would also be glad to pray with any kids or families who are having a tough time dealing with the flooding and disaster. We will help get you through this. Stay safe. Some Good weather is on the way!

Brady and Christy are former staff members from FBC, Kentwood.  They made a big impact while in Kentwood and continue to do so in their present area of Florida.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who according to His abundant mercy

has begotten us again to a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled

and that does not fade away,

reserved in heaven for you.”

~1 Peter 1:3-4, NKJV~

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

John Orr

You may remember that my aunt passed away the last day of 2013.  Even though he misses her, her husband is doing well.  What a blessing for his family!

Steve Hatchel

Mr. Steve will probably be moved from ICU to a step-down room today.  Pray for him and the family as they wait for the lab report.  Pray for Boyd as he spends these days with his mom and dad.

Bad Weather

The weather has been rough in the southeast this week.  Several friends have been hit by the storms.  This is an example of the wonderful attitude of God’s people in Madison, MS.

To all my FB family and friends: The power has come on and we are so happy to have lights and air again. The tornado was pretty rough here, our damage is mainly roof and wind damage and inside we have water damage because of leaks, etc. It is just all “stuff” and can be fixed. Both Billy and I are fine, and we know that things could have been worse. God has blessed us with much help from family and friends. Members of our Church (Broadmoor) have been here helping and friends brought food. God is so good as He uses them to bless us and others. He provides for us at all times. Pray for our neighbors. We believe their damage is worse than ours. Thanks so much for your care and concern.

“Christ in the Storm”

http://odb.org/2014/04/29/christ-in-the-storm/

How timely!  Yes, Jesus is with us in every storm of life.  That includes weather, medical problems, family situations, etc.  Always know, you can turn to Him, no matter what storm you are going through.

“Caught in the Storm”

http://www.juliabettencourt.com/dev/stormdev.html

These devotionals have the same message.

38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion.  The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

“Master, the Tempest is Raging”

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and           with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Pine Ridge Monthly Breakfast Benefit

At 8:00 in the morning, people will gather at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church for their monthly benefit.  I don’t know who will benefit this month, but I do know it is always a worthy cause.  The breakfast buffet is wonderful, as is the company.

Peanut Butter for God’s Storehouse

During the next month, we will be doing a peanut butter drive so God’s Storehouse in Amite will not run out of the “perfect food” for good nutrition and long shelf life that doesn’t need refrigeration.  Any donation, a jar or peanut butter by the case, will be useful and appreciated.  You may deliver directly to God’s Storehouse in Amite or drop off at FBC,Kentwood.  If you choose to take it to the church, enter at the office entrance and leave you jar(s) on the right by the stairwell.  Any jars left there will have a label applied to them that has the Scripture, John 3:16, added.  We hope to help hearts as well as stomachs.

“Down the Up Stairs” – http://odb.org/?tz=-07

5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God  something to be grasped,

7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8 And being found in appearance as a man,

he humbled himself and became obedient to death

— even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

and gave him the name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

to the glory of God the Father.
