VBS at FBC, K begins Monday morning.  If you have not registered your children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews yet, it is not too late.  This can be done at church today or at VBS in the morning.

Last night, David and I heard a hymn, “Where No One Stands Alone”, on television.  We haven’t heard it in a long time.   It is the continuation of a thought that was brought up in Bible Study Friday morning.  I take these “God Winks” as a reminder for my life.

Operation Christmas Child (You can follow them on Facebook.)

  • “I recently received a thank you letter from a child in Guyana who had received one of my shoeboxes. She told me she had three brothers, but that now I am her sister. It was a precious letter and I was happy to learn about one of the children receiving my shoeboxes. She said she prays every day and has accepted Jesus as her Savior.” – Dawna P.
  • Children who recently graduated from OCC’s discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, returned the love they were shown by handing out shoebox gifts to other children who had not yet learned about the love of Jesus. Watch below to see the impact that your shoebox gift can make, and then click here to learn how you can disciple a child, like one of these:http://bit.ly/TheGreatestJourney5-28
  • A young girl, enrolled in The Greatest Journey, began praying for the restoration of her parent’s marriage as they were separated with a pending divorce. During one lesson the teacher had the children write down some of their concerns on stones to throw away as they committed to giving each concern to God. The little girl began to cry after she threw away her stones and shared her concerns with the teacher. The teacher prayed with the little girl. Following this incident her parents came back together and decided to not get a divorce.

Steve Hatchel

This is an update from Ana Hatchel, Steve and Ginger’s daughter-in-law. Ginger asked that I send out an update twice a week. So I will try and be failthful to do that. She is missing a lot of calls and feels bad that she can’t update everyone individually. You can call me or Aaron if you miss them and need to talk to them. I will include our email and phone numbers at the end of this email. Ginger is so appreciative of all your help and prayers! This would be even more difficult without your support.

Steve has had his first radiation treatment this morning and has started taking the chemotherapy medication today. He will have radiation every day (mon-fri) for 7 weeks and will take the chemotherapy medication every day while be radiated. After that he will take the chemotherapy medication 5 days every month and will do follow up MRI’s every three months.

Steve had some nausea this afternoon after taking the chemotherapy medication, but it quickly improved after taking the nausea medication. Steve will contine physical therapy at home and is now using the walker for short distances, although he tires easily.

Boyd will be flying in this Thursday and will be here through the weekend. Please continue to pray for the following:

*Rest for Steve and Ginger

*Complete healing and treatment effectiveness

*Safe travel for Boyd

*That they will be able to find the right resources to help them

Operation Christmas Child

One night in Poland, shoeboxes were distributed to about 50 children in a community center after singing Christmas carols and reciting poems. The room erupted in celebration as the shoeboxes were opened. One young girl, Veronica, opened her shoebox and quickly put the lid back on. Then, with wide eyes, she opened it again and pulled out a T-shirt, a scarf, gloves, socks, candy, a brush and a pencil case. She held each item high in the air calling to her friends to look at her gifts. At the end of the night, one of the mothers said, “The shoebox is just one drop in the bucket, but without it we would have missed out on all this joy.” Another mother added, “Yes – and every drop creates ripples.”
