Friday

“I called to the LORD in my distress,

and I cried to my God for help.

From His temple He heard my voice,

and my cry to Him reached His ears.”

~Psalm 18:6, HCSB~

9-11

Let’s pray for our country and our world today.  I truly believe the world would be safer, happier, and more blessed if more people knew Jesus.  It’s our job/mission to pass on what we know so that others may know Him and through Him know peace and love.

Flo Hatcher

My mom went to oncologist today and they have admitted her to the hospital to give her IV fluids and hopefully get her feeling better. Until she’s better chemo and radiation have been postponed. We were told no need to panic, she’s stable but just needs a boost. Hopefully just 24 hours. Thanks for prayers.                                                         ~Julee Hatcher~

Callie Cole

Calli’s mom posted yesterday.  They live in Brookhaven.  Debi Crawford shared Calli’s name shortly after the accident.  I have shared her caringbridge posts here,

6 years ago today, Thursday Sept 10. she wasn’t drinking, she wasn’t texting, she wasn’t speeding….just a vehicle malfunction. The doctors said she wouldn’t make it, but she has come so far! It’s not easy being patient. I often wonder why God picked her and lets all the others walk away without a scratch. Only for them to get drunk and back behind the wheel…. or whatever the circumstance may be. What would she be doing today? Oh, how I miss her laughter!! All I know is, we serve the ultimate Healer, & one day, she will be herself again. Pray without ceasing. You only have one life, one shot… She dedicated herself to the Lord. What do you choose? Share her story. Save a life. Make disciples. “Don’t stop believing”

FBC, Covington

In our travels Wednesday, we stopped at Chick-Fil-A in Covington.  A lady walked over to our table and said “David and Anna Lee”.  It was Mrs. Helen Singleton’s daughter, Margie.  We enjoyed a few minutes of visiting.  She told us she was on the way home from Bible Study at FBC, Covington.  The pastor’s wife teaches the class which has about 300 in attendance each week.  I was sharing that with Jennie yesterday.  Surprise, surprise, surprise!  FBC, Covington has a mission team in Prague this week!  What a small world and tremendous outreach of one church!  The pastor is Rev. Waylon Bailey who has been there since 1985 and whose blogs I share periodically.

  • Let each of you look out not only for his own interests,                                                               but also for the interests of others.                                                                                                                                                                                    ~Philippians 2:4~
  • “Others”

I think I may have first grown to love this hymn by seeing/hearing Tennessee                               Ernie Ford on television.

I think missionaries, including Kyra Karr, live their lives thinking of others.

Monday

Consider it pure joy, my brothers,

whenever you face trials of many kinds,

because you know that the testing of your faith

develops perseverance.

Perseverance must finish its work

so that you may be mature and complete,

not lacking anything.

~James 1:2-4~

A quote I heard at church last night:

“Christians need the patience of a farmer

and the perseverance of an athlete.”

                                                ~Caleb Smith~

I love to have Scripture show up in timely ways.

Who would have thought this verse would come to my computer

shortly after the quote I heard?

God has a way of making his points clear to us!

May we all be more like farmers and athletes!

I talked with Wendy L. Alford at church last night.  She said her dad, Mike Lambert, is now in rehab and improving some.  Please continue to pray for Mike and his family.

Last night, Lisa Piner, said her mother, Alice Faye Lee, did not need a stent or a by-pass. She will be treated with medication and will possibly be coming home Monday.  Please continue to pray for this family.

Friday, all ladies are invited to attend Bible study in the church fellowship hall at 10 A..M. We are studying Women of the Bible: The Wise Woman of Abel  – 2 Samuel 20:14-22.  Our group is growing!  We are learning great lessons of life.  Contact me for more information.

Tuesday of next week will be the “Young” Ladies Birthday Party at The Cafe at 11 A.M.  Come help us honor ladies who have August birthdays.

Thursday of next week, the ladies will host “Ladies Night: Follow the Ants to the Picnic”.  All ladies from 3-103 are invited to come picnic with us at the FBC fellowship hall of FBC.  You do not need to attend church at Kentwood to come.  All ladies are invited. Don’t miss out!

One of our on-going projects of Women’s ministry is Operation Christmas Child.  It is exciting to watch as our gifts are accumulating waiting for our packing party.  The party will only be a success if we purchase and donate items for the children’s shoe boxes. Check the area in the hallway of the fellowship hall closest to the coffee pot to get ideas for your purchases.

I need to borrow three or four  Scrabble games for a missions lesson.  If you have one I can use, please let me know.  You can bring it to me at church Sunday or Wednesday.  Please put your name on a sheet of paper inside the box.  Thanks!

Make this a week where you work for things that can have eternal value/meaning to others.

FBC, Greensburg is celebrating homecoming today!  I forgot how many years!

East Fork Baptist Church had a great revival last week.

New Zion Baptist Church is beginning revival this morning.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pine Grove, was preparing for a back-to-school bash when I passed yesterday.

Judson Baptist Church in Walker hosted a state WMU day yesterday.  The ladies were very surprised and blessed by the number of men there to help serve and make our day flow nicely.  Thanks to the state leaders, led by Janie Wise, in planning and carrying out a wonderful training session.  The missionary speaker certainly was one of the highlights of the day.  I wish I could hear him again today.  (I got to speak with Mrs. McCon, formerly of Line Creek Baptist Church and eat lunch with ladies from Bethel, Amite, Minden, Old Zion Hill, and Judson Baptist.)

I get to teach Sunday School at 9:15 at FBC, Kentwood.  I am so blessed.

Two sweet ladies from Amite (Written by their sister, Virgie Vining Morgan)
Dear friends and family, I really need your prayers this week. My 2 remaining sisters will be going through some surgical procedures in the next few days. Gloria will be having her carotid arteries cleaned tomorrow. The Dr. told her this would be very serious surgery for someone her age (85). Edwina will be having heart cath and endoscope on Wed. She is 81. Both will be under anesthesia which is risky to some extent. Prayers are really appreciated at this time.

Overall Lil man had a good night. He rested, and got into a deep sleep here and there. Seems to be in a deep sleep now which I’m glad. He talked to me a little more this morning when he was awake. But he still doesn’t seem to really be aware of everything that has happened. Praying he wakes up more today! Thank you for the prayers and please keep them coming!
