This morning I’m going to let my Roseland roots show.

  • Mrs. Grace Chadwich has lived in the same house for as long as I can remember.  Her house is  across the street and just south of Roseland Baptist Church.  She raised her two  children there.  She was faithful in church attendance for all the years I have know her.  Last night, she became very ill and was placed in ICU at North Oaks.  She is 96 (to the best of my recollection).  I haven’t had an update this morning.  Pray for the whole family today.
  • Sue Ellen Russell Pearson went to school with me for the first-sixth grades and then again in high school.  She has battled cancer twice, but is beginning 2016 in remission.  Pray for Sue Ellen and all the others you know who are fighting and winning many years.

Mr. James Miller needed two more units of blood and platelets yesterday.  To help keep blood available for those like him who need it, there will be a blood drive on Sunday, January  24th.  I’ll tell you more later, but mark your calendar now.  (David and I have had the opportunity to be with Mr. James when he got blood or platelets.  The unit at the hospital was full each time.  This let me know again how important blood drives are.)

Mrs. Mary Nell Kliesch is in North Oaks, room 3222.

Latest news on Mrs. Mary Kliesch…they will do x-rays tomorrow to decide if surgery is needed…if they see a blockage in gastro-intestinal area. We are praying surgery will not be needed. Her blood pressure is ok now. She is still not able to stand or walk. Prayers are needed…Thank you!!!                                          ~Written by Pam Kliesch~

Johnny Belgard is still at Ochsner Hospital.  His improvement is slow, but seems to be headed in the right direction.  Please continue to pray for him.

Monday

The weather alerts on my phone got me us even earlier than usual.  I’m thankful the worst of the weather did not last too long here.  Please pray for others who are in the path of the bad weather today.

On coming to the house,

they saw the child with his mother Mary,

and they bowed down and worshiped him.

Then they opened their treasures

and presented him with gifts of gold

and of incense

and of myrrh.

And having been warned in a dream

not to go back to Herod,

they returned to their country by another route.

Dan Turner’s Story

Update & Merry Christmas

by DanMan

It’s been a few weeks since I updated everyone on my progress and I wanted to get in here and share what I think is good news. Today is Christmas Eve and I’ve had two more follow-up appointments since my last update. My intrathecal Baclofen (ITB) pump dose is now at 500 mcg/day and the spasticity of my left leg, ankle, and foot is nearly gone. My left hand is still lagging behind just a little bit, but still, it is better.
Since things have improved enough to allow me to start setting new goals for myself, I started back to school on December 7. I got to where I was comfortable enough to sit at my desk and do course-work. I just wanted another degree in a field where I have great interest. I enrolled at ITT Technical Institute and am working toward a Bachelor’s Degree of Information Systems & Cyber Security—who knows where that could lead in the future? I’m just enjoying learning and making good grades again—I’ve missed accomplishing things like that and am very thankful to be able to do it again! I must say, I am totally impressed with the level of professionalism and customer service at ITT Tech. I have an assigned counselor, Mark, that really went above and beyond to get me started and he still calls every few days to make sure all is going well.
Additionally, I began working out this morning—especially focusing on strengthening my left leg. My left leg felt like a boiled noodle when I finished. I anticipate some soreness over the next few days, but soreness means “progress”—bring it on!
Anyway, I just wanted to drop in and update everyone. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve

While they were there,

the time came for the baby to be born,

a son.

She wrapped him in cloths

and placed him in a manger,

because there was no room

for them in the inn.
