A list for Bible readings for May-August is available at FBC, Kentwood.

Operation Christmas Child will be packing boxes at FBC. Kentwood.  It is always a good time to watch for sales of items children want/need that will fit with other items in a shoebox.  Items can be turned in at church any time.  Also, a list of suggested items is available at church.  A list for July will be available Sunday.  Your help with this wonderful mission project is greatly appreciated.

VBS at FBC, Kentwood will begin in two weeks.  I know dates and times and not much more because David and I are not getting out unless necessary. Thankfully, the church services come to my computer and other people help me stay updated.  If you want to send you child to VBS call the church office at 229-8111 for more information and to pre-register your children.

“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants!

Bro. Darryl preached from Daniel 3 on April 8th.  What is God able to do for you?

Today, I want to think about the children in our church.  They love to sing.  They love the children’s moments.  They love to do crafts.  They love Bible stories, Bible drills, missionary stories, VBS, summer camp, VBS,  and so much more.  I know they have missed their teachers and their friends at church.  Keep them safe at home until you, the parents and grandparents, feel it is safe to get them back in church.  Pray for your children and grandchildren, teach them at home, have them read Bible stories to you, etc,  Invest in them.  Encourage them.  Brag on them.  They will be blessed.  You will too!

Please pray for two people who will have procedure today now that elective surgery is again an option.

  • Ricky Russell of Chesbrough will have a heart procedure today.  He has to be at the hospital early today.  The hardest part for his family is that they will have to wait until Tuesday to hear an update.  As you pray for Ricky, please also pray for Brenda, Jeanna, and Vernon.
  • Fay Chadwick Todd of Arcola has helped her family through a number of health issues.  Today is her turn for surgery.  She will be having knee surgery.  Pray for her to do well with the post-surgery care too.

Churches will have some catching up to do with Operation Christmas Child when all this “stay-at-home” time is over.  Thanks to the lady who recently gave me $20.00 for OCC purchases.  I haven’t been shopping for OCC since February, but certainly look forward to more OCC shopping and the church “catching-up” on purchases so we will be ready for packing in the fall.

Let’s continue to pray about the Covid – 19 problem in our area, our country, and around the world.  Thankfully, most people have been spared of fighting this virus and most who had it survived.

Saturday

“Rejoice always,

pray continually,

give thanks in all circumstances;

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

~‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18~

If you are discouraged and tired of the present circumstances, take some time to focus on and pray about believing the verse above.  This verse may help you get through some difficult days.  Then, take action and do some things that will help you and others.

  • Make some phone calls to others who might need encouragement.
  • Send some “just because” cards or even text messages or emails.
  • Pick some flowers or share a plant with a gardener.
  • Cook and share a meal or a treat.
  • Volunteer with a church or organization that is helping others.
  • Teach someone how to use FB or You–Tube to locate church services to view.
  • Cut grass, weed-eat, or mulch for someone who appreciates their yard, but is unable to do so for themselves.
  • Prepare a flower arrangement for someone in the cemetery.
  • Pick up basic groceries for someone who is unable to shop for themselves.
  • Take a bag of light bulbs with you and volunteer to change those that are out at the homes of older people.
  • Share a plant or a single flower.
  • Offer to read the Bible or pray fort someone over the phone.
  • Make your own prayer list.  Pray.  Adjust the list daily.  Pray.
  • The list is endless.  Think about needs and take action!  What you can do for others will be a help to them and to you!

Get ready for church today.  It may come as live-streamed, a drive in, a talk from a kitchen table, or a rocking chair on a front porch.  Our local pastors have really been creative.  This is a good thing.  I’m so glad the doors of the the churches were not locked and pastors all took a look vacation.  You can make you decisions now about what service or services you plan to attend.

FBC, Kentwood will livestream at 10:30 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. today.

Annie Armstrong Offering for North America missions!

  • How are the gifts used?

Every dollar given goes to train and resource thousands of missionaries involved in church planting and compassion ministries who share the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ across the United States, Canada and their territories.

What is this year’s theme, scripture verse and national goals?

The 2020 theme is “It’s All About the Gospel”. The scripture verse is “For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.”(1 Corinthians 15:3-4 CSB). The national goal is $70 million.
