Monday Afternoon

Karen Miller’s mom did well with surgery.  Rehabilitation now begins.  Pray for Karen and her mother.

“Prayers for Eli” – Facebook

Ashlyn DeBlanc will be having surgery on a knee Wednesday in Jackson.  Please pray for Ashlyn and her family as they anticipate this procedure.

Austin Rose was able to walk outside his hospital and experience sunlight firsthand for the first time in three weeks.  I know the family is thankful for the “small steps” of progress they have seen.

From Robert Callihan

Robbie was doing little better but nurses saw her at home today and urged her to go to emergency room. They think she may have blood clot in her leg. I have been spending weekends with her and will continue as long as she needs me.  Keep praying for her and pass this along to anyone u feel like.

Two reminders:

  1. Now is a good time to purchase flannel or 100% cotton fabric in patterns appropriate for children – sports, animals, teams, cartoon character, Disney characters, etc.  You can check out Susan’s facebook page – “Lara’s Gowns for Smiles”.  We will be cutting the fabric two weeks from today.  People from area churches are welcome to add fabric to our baskets at FBC, Kentwood.   Susan learned last week that socks and underwear are also needed sometimes when children, both boys and girls, have an appointment and are immediately sent to the hospital.   It would be helpful if you bring straight pins and scissors.
  • Small – 1 yd.

  • Medium – 1 1/2 – 2-1/2 yds.

  • Large – 2 1/2 – 3 yds.

2. We will be working on “Purses of Purpose” the same day.  We need purses for children, teens, and adults and items to go in the purses.  Each purse will also include a small pamphlet with a Christian message.

  • new pens
  • small notepads
  • hand sanitizer
  • tissues
  • small books
  • small toys for a girl
  • inexpensive jewelry
  • etc.

Please sign the list at the church or let me know if you are coming.

Monday Addition

Pray for Andy Taylor as he sees a doctor today and for his sister, Cindy Juban, who seems to be headed for surgery for one of two tumors in her head.  She is losing her vision.  Prayers would be very much appreciated.

Monday

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;

and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

may … know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge,

that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”

~Ephesians 3:17-19, NASB~

I was late getting started on the computer this morning due to a power outage.  I’m glad to be at this point now.

Melissa Johnson is progressing with her shoulder injuries.  She showed me how much better she is able to move one of her arms.  She said it hurts, but she is going to keep working until she gets all her movement back.  I thank God for Melissa’s determination to improve.

Wanda Smith will not be having foot surgery this week as was planned.  The surgery has been delayed until the first of August.

It was good to see Mrs. Betty Catherine Hatcher back at church yesterday.  She has made a lot of improvement lately.

I got to talk with both Mrs. Jean Easley’s in the last few days.  Keep them in your prayers.  They both have physical battles to address daily.

Karen Miller’s mother will have knee-replacement surgery this morning in Alabama.  Pray all goes well from the surgery through rehab.  Pray for Karen as she shoulders the care of her mother.

Two area churches, Amite and Albany, will be sending youth and adults to Counselor, NM this week for a mission trip to the Navajos.  They call this mission trip “His Hands and Feet”.  I know you will want to pray for them.

Two area churches will begin VBS tonight.  Hillsdale and Roseland invite you to join them for a great time.

Lara’s Gowns for Smiles:  FBC, Kentwood is a collection site for the fabric that is sewn into hospital gowns for children with cancer and other serious health issues.  Be sure to put some fabric in the box in the next couple of weeks.  We will be cutting the fabric two weeks from today.

I’m going to stop for now, but will post more later.
