Mr. Harlon Toney is recovering nicely following surgery last week.  He will be returning to the doctor next week and predicts he will be able to be at our Third Thursday Gathering in two weeks.  Please pray for Mr. Harlon’s health.

Linda K. Graves says she has had two good days and attributes them to prayers for her.  Keep praying for improvement.

Patrick Jordan, son-in-law of Gail Smith

Update on Patrick Jordan because I have gotten 10 texts today about him. He is the same. Mental state not there yet. Still in a fog. He is extremely exhausted. We have a big road in front of us. He is being released from Baptist Hospital on Monday. Then will be transferred to a rehab facility that specializes in physical and occupational therapy. I have no idea at the moment which facility because I am viewing them tomorrow. I pray he comes around next week because I desperately want my husband to look at me the way he normally does and not the glassy/glossed over eyes I see daily. On a positive note he keeps me laughing and after lunch today informed the nurses we were going to a snoop dog concert😆😂😆! That was funny and boy I needed that. I need to pray for patience and how to maneuver through all this. I barely see the kids juggling between home and the hospital being mom and dad in one person. If my kids have clean clothes, fed, homework and projects done and all the extras that come along that is a good day.👍🏻😜I would like to personally thank my mom for being my partner through all this and keeping me sane. I love you mom! You are the best! ❌⭕️😘❤️

David will be seeing his retina specialist this afternoon.  David’s gas bubble is slowly decreasing in size allowing him to see better.  We’ll be glad to get the doctor’s viewpoint.

 

Thankfulness, Day 4 – Jennie

Our daughter was God’s gift to us early on a Christmas morning.  There are many words I could use to describe her, but I will just say she is the greatest Christmas gift we have ever been given.  Thank you, God, for allowing us to be part of her life.

Becki Alford, our daughter-in-law, is doing well following back surgery.  Thank you for your prayers for her.

Mr. Phillip Harrell’s birthday is today.  I don’t usually include birthdays, but since Mr. Phillis is 93, I thought some of you might want to call him today.

 

Opportunity – Christmas cards for prisoners in the Tangipahoa Parish jail.  I have cards, but could use books of stamps.  This allows prisoners to contact family members during the holiday season.  If you will give me the stamps by December 4th, I will get them to the jail that week.  Christian cards and stamps that feature scenes such as the nativity are especially nice.

 

Thankfulness – Day 3 .  Today, I want to say how thankful I am that God sent me David.  We are a team in so many ways.  In August, we will celebrate fifty years of marriage.  Thank-you, God, for all the wonderful years!

Becki, our daughter-in-law, was out with her kids as neighborhood children visited her home last night.  That reminds me of being out at NOBTS with Jennie’s family the night of my gamma knife surgery (and after a nap).  We are so thankful Becki is fine.  He doctor said Becki will be able to drive by Wednesday.  Absolutely amazing!  Thank-you. God.

Election day is a week away.  Be sure you pray for our country and who God would like to lead from various positions.

Gail Smith’s son-in-law, Robin Miller Jordan’s husband, is better.

He is off the vent HOORAY! He looks at us but is still on a good amount of pain meds. When I asked him if he wanted to see Clare he grunted which I took as a yes. He is still on a bit of oxygen through his nose. His blood pressure and heart started to increase because he still had that tube down his throat. He was not a happy camper. So I said to his nurse, I know my husband and he wants that tube out NOW! So she got permission from the respiratory doctor to remove it. Once it was out everything started to go down. He is still very weak and in and out of consciousness. We are ecstatic that his heart is pumping and working on it’s own. He is coming along but we still have much work to do! I am thrilled to see his pretty brown eyes open and so are the kids. Much love and thanks for the prayers.😘 The Jordan’s ❌⭕️❤️🙏🏻🏥

I know many of you have been praying for Jeana, who is in her mid 40’s.  Her mother, Brenda Russell of Chesbrough, shared this:

As of today jeana’s social worker is trying to find her a long-term facility for her to be moved to. She’s still in alot of pain and her doctor says she needs round the clock care for the wound he says it’s too much for us to handle at home. Please continue to pray for her she’s really depressed at this time. Thanking all of u in advance for ur prayers. It’s gonna be hard but with God’s help we will get through this too

I hope you enjoy this version with children quoting the Scripture and singing.    I think that is appropriate for my next  comment.

This evening at 6 P.M., we will gather with our church families to guide children as they help pack 325 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  What a great opportunity it is to teach children about what happened long ago in a land far away that directly impacts our lives, even today.  It also teaches our children about how some children are not as blessed as they are and how they can be a part of blessing children with a box of hygiene items and small gifts.  It teaches missions and love to them.  Mostly, it is an opportunity to teach everyone about the love of Jesus!

I hope to see you and your family at First Baptist Church, Kentwood at 6:00 P.M.  Many churches, schools, and other organizations will also be collecting items and putting items together for Operation Christmas Child.  FBC, Kentwood has been honored to be a Drop-Off Station for all those in our area.  The national date for that is November 14-21.  You can check the Samaritan’s Purse web site to see a list of all area sites and their hours of service.

I’m so thankful for all who are able to participate in Operation Christmas Child and for Samaritan’s Purse for giving us the opportunity to participate.

Children in Action

Last night the children learned about missionaries who helped people purify water, put in wells, tutor children, and provided health supplies to those who are sick.  It was fun to watch them do activities and play games as they learned.  We also signed a birthday card for a MK and completed a candy craft.  Hurry up Wednesdays!

Linda K. Graves of East Fork is being pampered at her sister and brother-in-law’s home. Thank God for family members who can and will step up when needed.

Services for Jimmy Wall will be Saturday at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 9:30 – 11:00 when there will be a brief service and a private burial.  The family requests no food and no burial.  Please pray for the family.

Continue to pray for our country as we move closer to election day.

 

Operation Christmas Child is one of the greatest mission projects we do at FBC, Kentwood.  During the last few months, we have collected socks, hats, notebooks, flashlights, erasers, dolls, brushes, and many other items that we will pack into shoeboxes Saturday at 6 P.M.  Yesterday, we did one of our final tasks, filling zipper storage bags with candy.  I thank all who supplied candy and those who came to put the candy into bags.  What fun it is to think of children opening their boxes and finding their bags of candy and lots of other things. Most of all, I’m thankful we are packing Jesus into each box and providing children with the opportunity to learn about Jesus through classes that will be taught in the following weeks.  See you Saturday!
