Operation Christmas Child

OCC delivers gifts to boys and girls who might not otherwise receive any gifts, but most importantly, the shoe boxes “deliver Jesus”.
Friendship Circle Sunday School class will shop for anyone who needs someone to shop for them.

Mrs. Doris Young is still in North Oaks. Friday, she had a good day, but Saturday was a different story. Doris is the mother of Wanda Miller and sister of Betty Simpson. Pray as tests are continuing to be done.

Mrs. Marilyn Dees is not recovering from her surgery as quickly as hoped. Please pray for her, Mr. Earl, their children, and the medical staff at North Oaks.

Update on Porgy Scarle

Thanks for all the prayers and please keep them coming. Dr. Said he has a fractured vertebra and some healing rib fractures we didn’t know about. We see internist on Monday for treatment plan and hopefully to see what’s causing the osteoporosis to be so bad. He is tired from the 2 days to Baton Rouge so he has had a good bit of pain today but usually hurts just when he stands or tries to walk. Thanks agin for the calls and especially the prayers.

“A shoebox fanatic, I was sorting through shoebox stuff, and was thinking…’God, is this really worth all the work I go through packing all these shoeboxes?’ Tired and somewhat frustrated, I decided to take a break and check my email. The first email I opened was from Clip With Purpose, one of the groups I subscribe to that notifies us of good sales for shoebox items. I scrolled down to the article about youth delivering shoeboxes in Guyana, and was totally amazed and excited to see a little girl, Sabrina, holding a picture of our family! She had received one of the shoeboxes we had packed! God orchestrated this (me seeing this picture exactly when I was discouraged and needed to) to answer my questions. How awesome is that?! And how amazing is our loving God!” – Patricia M.

A teacher at an elementary school in Latvia said there was a girl who really wanted to have someone that she could exchange letters with. Before they distributed shoebox gifts in their school, the little girl prayed to have a pen pal. When she opened her gift, there was a letter from a girl about her age. With tears in her eyes, she excitedly told her teacher that God had answered her prayers.
“My name is Juliette and I am in the 5th grade in Burkina Faso. Thank you very much for the beautiful items I received in my gift. I got so many things in my box; I was able to give some to my small sister! Thank you Jesus for the love that you’ve shown me!”

Sherry Day had an MRI Monday and will return Monday, July 28th, to learn the results. Pray for her as she waits and for a good report.

Shirley Humphrey‘s surgery went well. She’s home now and waiting until next week when she can get results from the doctor. Thank God for her progress so far and ask Him to be with her as she waits to see her doctor next week.

Mr. Steve gained two pounds and has improved to only needing a cane to walk. He has resumed treatment, but changed the time of day so he can get more rest in the mornings. Continue to pray for him and for “Miss” Ginger.

Mission Project

We’re half way through our month of collecting red beans and rice. Lots of bags have been brought to the church already and some have already been delivered to God’s Storehouse in Amite. This is such an easy project to participate in. If you have not done so already, you still have two weeks. Even after that, it will be fine to bring some periodically. David and I will continue to make deliveries of all the contributions.

Hope Ministries

Our association will soon have our own thrift store and food pantry. The finance committee gave final approval this week. The building on highway 51 in Roseland will be rented the first of August with plans to open the first of September. Lots of volunteers will be needed for renovations, sorting, selling, food packaging, etc. I’ll be working on a list soon. Start praying and asking God how He can use you.
